Thanks dadge.

Oh please don't understand Anthoop. Its nothing personal against you. Its just I read from a few other sources that WD40 shouldn't be used. I think I can salvage the situation anyway by spraying some switch cleaner to remove the residue so its not a big problem. I appreciate you were trying to help so please don't think I'm not grateful.

This was one of the sites I found that stated not to use it:

Logitech G25 - Replacement pots - where and what type?

Hi there. I wanted to clean my pedals today and I read a post from someone that I could use WD40 to clean the pots. After having read on a few other websites, I realise that this was a huge mistake so can anyone tell me what pots I would specifically need for a G25 and where would be a good place to get them (preferably Irish, UK or European dealer). My pedals are working perfectly now but just when they start playing up, I'd like to replace the pots then. Thank you.

Thanks for the advice Anthoop but I've read that using WD40 is a bad idea.

Hi there. My brake and throttle have started to spike slightly so I've read that its possible to fix it by cleaning the pots but I can't find any proper guide on how to do it so can anyone help me? I would greatly appreciate it if you could include pics so I know what to look for. Thank you.
Race On Expansion - Would it work with GTR Evolution?

Hi all! I bought GTR Evolution a couple weeks ago and loving it. I'm aware that there is now Race On which is just an expansion pack of RACE 07 but my question is, if I got the Race On expansion, would it work with GTR Evolution pack? Or would I need to own a sole copy of RACE 07. I'd hate to buy the full version of Race On as I already bought Race 07 a while ago (never used it as my machine wasn't powerful enough at the time) so I'd be looking to sell that but even after that, I don't want to have two copies of it (From Race On + GTR Evolution). Thanks!

GTR Evolution - Why would my machine struggle with it?

Hi all! I got the demo for GTR Evolution yesterday. Its running fine but something thats puzzling me is that I get a lot of frameskip whenever I put the AA up to Level 3 so I'm a little confused about this. Technically, my machine should be able to handle it no problem according to the Recommended system requirements. I know they're a load of bull most of the time but even if the requirements were slightly higher than that, my machine should still be able to run it fine. So can anyone explain why its struggling?

This is my system

OS: Windows XP SP3
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition (@3.42 Ghz)
GPU: ATI RadeonHD 5850 XXX (GPU: 755 Mhz / Memory: 1125 Mhz)
(ATI Catalyst 10.1 (without hotfix)
RAM: 4GB Corsair XMS3 Dominator DDR3 - CMD4GX3M2B1600C8
HDD: Western Digital WD5000AAKS
MB: Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4
PSU: Corsair TX650W

GTR Evolution Recommended System Requirements:

- Operating Systems Microsoft Windows XP Home/Pro, Windows Vista*
- Processor 3 GHz Intel Pentium IV or 100% compatible
- Memory 2 GB RAM
- Hard Drive 4.7 GB free space
- 3D Accelerator DirectX 9 compatible graphics card with 512 MB memory
- Sound Card DirectX 9 compatible
- Input DirectX 9 compatible Force Feedback steering wheel
- DirectX Version 9

thanks, I'll see about trying that but I don't think they'd have any PC games but I'll have a look

I'm on a tight bandwidth limit (10 GB/Monthly) so it'll be as if buying the game twice (€25 for internet + €20 for GTR Evolution). I'd also prefer to have a physical copy so that I can install it without having to download it again if I need to format my PC or something.
GTR Evolution - Anywhere I can get it from Ireland/UK?

Hi all! I just downloaded the demo yesterday and loved it. I went looking around to see about getting the full version but I can't find it anywhere. The only place I can find it is the US and I was kind of hoping for something closer. So any ideas? I tried the usual sites (Amazon.co.uk, Play.com, ebay.ie/.co.uk). Cheers!

Racewear - Nomex Long Johns - Is it enough to sort out the tackle?

Excuse the reference in the topic subject but there is no real other way of putting it. I'm looking into getting some racegear but I'm unsure as to whether I'd need to wear some Nomex Shorts under the Long Johns if its a little loose down there. So, would the Long Johns do the job in keeping the nether region in check?

Sorry, I wasn't clear about that. I meant like the voltage of the RAM matches what is required by the CPU. I meant as in Kingston say that the voltage for the RAM states what kind of system its designed for so any RAM that requires a voltage between 1.7v-1.95v is designed for an AMD system while any RAM with a voltage below that (1.65v) is designed for an Intel system.

Yeah, I did try looking for a no-cd patch but nowhere to be found. Something tells me that when it comes to piracy, cracking the DTT CD isn't exactly something at the top of the list of hackers

Quote from dadge :sorry bud but that can't be true. i have an ATI chipset and i'm using a NV8800GT. no issues. your friends pc blew up because he was probs trying to overclock it.

but back to GPU's, what'll put you into a spin is that ATI is actually AMD. what gives eh.

But I'm saying that he used an ATI GPU in an nVidia chipset. It might work the other way round. I don't think he overclocked it.

Intel i7 is probably the best CPU on the market but BOO! for Intel :thumbsdow. I'll always be on the green side of CPUs.

I checked the start menu and taskbar settings, auto-hide is off. I've tried making an image before but the disc has some sort of protection (from what I've read, SecuROM v7). I've tried a few programs that are meant to remove the protection but they didn't work.

Well, the MB designated speeds are 1066Mhz - 1333Mhz and 1600Mhz so are you saying that as long as I go with RAM thats within the range of 1066Mhz-1600Mhz and the voltage matches the CPU then it should work fine?

Quote from R3DMAN :leprekaun - i have had horrible experiences with ATI cards, driver problems mainly, and games pausing and not responding, my friends who swore by ATI also started to suffer from the same problems and we switched to nvidia and never had the problems ever again..

so unfortunatly, im scarred for life, i wont buy another ATI aslong as nvidia is producing cards.

hmm... I never read anything about that so I hope I'm not one of those victims . A friend did tell me that his ATI card did blow up but that was because he was using an nVidia motherboard. In terms of the driver issues, I think the thing with the black screen after logging into Windows is no big deal really as the card functions perfectly afterwards. I think it started happening with drivers after 9.12 but fair enough, I know the feeling when you lose trust in a company. I had a look at the XFX nVidia GTX cards on Scan, GTX 260 (SLI = £315.52) so maybe that would be a good setup but to be honest with you, I've only briefly read through nVidia cards, I mostly researched ATI stuff.
Looking for Kingston 4GB (Dual Channel) thats compatible with Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4

Hi all! A big mistake which I've done in my recent PC build is that I didn't consider what RAM would be compatible with the MB. I got the Corsair 4GB Dominator and although, I'm unsure as to whether my system instability was because of it or the CPU, its not listed as one of the compatible RAM of the MB.

Since I've always been recommended to go with Kingston, I'm trying to find some Kingston 4GB (2x2GB / Dual Channel). I've had a read through the compatible RAM list (Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4) but I'm a little confused because I've come across 3 different chips which Kingston claim are designed for AMD based systems (1.7v-1.95v / KHX1333C7D3K2/4G | KHX1600C9D3K2/4G | KHX1800C8D3K2/4G) but I can't find any of them in the compatible list of the MB and looking through the list of the supported RAM, I've found a couple different chips (dual channel - 4GB) but they're both designed for Intel systems. I've found two 1GB setups but they're not listed on the Kingston website. So can anyone help me out? Thanks!

Those upgrades are pretty good but to be honest, I'd recommend ATI over nVidia. I've been reading on a few benchmark websites about different cards and the RadeonHD 4890 is pretty good and you could go for a Crossfire setup (twin 4890s) for £300 so that would be a complete beast for sure or alternatively, you could go for 1 GPU like the RadeonHD5850 which you can get for £250 which is also a beast (don't consider 5870, can't overclock that as fast as the 5850 so you'd be wasting money for the 5870) and 1 GPU ofcourse means you can make do with a smaller and cheaper motherboard since you don't need the extra space because the ATI cards are fat muthas. For my setup for the AMD Phenom II 965 BE and RadeonHD 5850, I went for the Gigabyte GA790XTA-UD4.
Windows XP toolbar - Not showing when minimising Driver Theory Test application

Hi all! I know this seems like an odd question but bear with me. I'm currently using a PC called the EEE Box. Unfortunately, it doesn't come with a DVD/CD-ROM drive so I bought an external enclosure to connect an IDE drive through USB. Its working great but the problem is, I need to keep my HDD connected to it. I have a DVD-ROM that I've used to install and run the Driver Theory Test CD but the problem is, I haven't been able to find a no-cd patch for it. Now, before anyone starts flaming, I'm NOT looking for a no-cd patch.

I found that after I access the questions section of the program, it no longer checks the drive so this is my plan. I don't want to keep connecting/disconnecting the IDE and power cables whenever I want to switch between the DVD-ROM and HDD because I don't want to weaken the contacts of the cables and then I can't use the HDD or the DVD-ROM.

I never shut down this PC so I was going to leave the DTT program running in the background and then just maximise it when I want to use it. The problem is, through Task Manager, I am able to minimise it but for some reason, the windows taskbar (or if it isn't called that, the big blue bar at the bottom of the screen) has disappeared so its a little frustrating so would anyone know how I can get it to show? Thanks!
Opening ports using 3 Mobile Broadband - Possible? and if so, how?
Leprekaun

Hi all! Unfortunately, I'm unable to get a regular DSL connection so I'm forced to use mobile broadband (3 mobile broadband to be specific). Anyway, something thats annoying me is that there seems to be some ports blocked off. I used to get NAT Type 2 for my PS3 but that has changed to Type 3 over the last while. I contacted 3 and gave them a list of ports of XBL (suffers the same issue, NAT issues) and the PSN ports too and hoping that I could setup LFS servers through those ports too. After 40 minutes of trying to explain what I want to do, the guy said sorry, I can't do it without consulting the energy department? so I assumed that he didn't know how to do it and he was just making up an excuse since it doesn't make sense how it would be related unless I misunderstood what he meant.

So, now that I can't get it done through 3 themselves, is there any way I can open ports from my end?

Thanks for the links guys

I'm pretty sure that even if it was just for karting, it would be more than enough since karting is generally rougher so I'd be sure if I was fit for karting, I'd be fit for racing.

The series didn't really seem certain and the organisers seemed to be quite vague.

I'm hoping to see about Irish FF1600 (depending on funding).
