Count me in Jason! Had a great time last year, I'd be happy with the same track again, it was fantastic (even if my back/hip was broke for 2 weeks afterwards).
Android smartphones

Hi guys,

I'm quite surprised there's not a thread about smartphones using the Android OS yet, I guess they're not as popular as the iPhone, Symbian, Blackberry, etc.

Anyway, I wanted to know what other users of these smartphones thought of their phones. I've had a HTC Magic on Vodafone in the UK for a couple of months now, and I've got to say it totally rocks for me. It's the first smartphone I've had that actually makes decent phone calls (strange requirement of a phone I know ), and in addition I can do VOIP, IM, I can webcast, read ebooks, sat-nav, etc, etc. Just like the iPhone in that respect.

Of course, there are downsides. It's user-friendly but only to a certain extent; I sometimes need to read forum guides in order to use features like Swype (dragging your finger across the letters rather than tapping as you text/email). Also Google Maps Navigation in the UK requires a bit of a hack in order to work, Google could take a leaf out of Nokia's book and do what nokia did with Ovi Maps (free for all satnav).

To tell the truth, it's a bit of a geek's phone (due to the Android OS). But that's why it suits me .

Wonder what the rest of you think.

Cheers.

Quote from GreyBull [CHA] :Any chance to get them updated?

Yes of course, to be honest I've been so busy lately they completely passed me by. I'll be reverting to the old userbars which displayed only the driver's position in the championship, if they were in the top 15.

Thanks for the reminder! I'll get onto it tomorrow (still busy with work )

Hi racers,

Sign-ups are now open for Round 2 of iTCC.

If you entered for Round 1, you will be PM'ed the server password for Pre-Qualifying. If you are a 'locked-in' driver (top 15 after Round 1), you will be PM'ed the race password closer to race day.

Please read the information below:

iTCC - The Touring Car Championship by iCON Racing Events.

This is a race series taking place in the first half of 2010, and will consist of six 'triple-header' rounds (3 races at each round). The car used will be the FXR restricted to 32%. The idea of this championship is for it be run, as far as is practical, in a similar way to both the BTCC and WTCC. This means a similar race format, with partially 'reversed' grids and also success ballast.

Timings for the race meetings will be Sundays at 1800 GMT (UTC)

Please make sure that before you sign up for this championship that you are eligible to enter.

Eligibility

To be eligibile to enter the iTCC you must be able to meet a minimum standard of outright pace - the iTCC requires that you can lap within 103% of a recognised benchmark. In this case it is (still!) Rudy Van Buren's fastest race lap from the 2009 Pre-Season meeting at Aston Grand Touring (AS6) - 2:45.22. So the time you will be required to beat is 2:50.18.

When registering your interest in this series please submit a .spr hot lap of your racing at Aston Grand Touring (AS6)

You must submit the .spr as an attachment to your sign-up post.

Joining iTCC

Please signal your intention to join the iTCC by replying to this post with the following information as shown below:
  • LFS Username :
  • Real Name :
  • Team :
  • Preferred Number :
  • And attach your .spr replay!
Teams

Unless you are a member of a new team that is entering iTCC at Round 2, you are not permitted to join an existing iTCC team. If you are entering a new team for Round 2, please bear in mind that your team must keep the same two drivers for the entirety of the season.

Race Numbers

Any numbers are available between 200-299

Allocation of race numbers is at the discretion of the admins. However, we will do our best to accomodate your preferred number.

Sign-ups

All signed-up competitors, other than those 'locked-in' drivers, are on the 'Reserve List'. There is a 'Pre-Qualification & Reserve Shootout' system for these competitors, please see the rules for more details.

Sign ups are now open. PMs will then be sent to the drivers with details of the next round. Sign-up to the Reserve List for subsequent rounds will be open after the preceding round.

The next round will be held on 31st January 2010, timings are UTC and will be listed in the rules thread.

The iTCC website can be found here

Rules are available in the rules thread

Calendar is available in the Calendar thread

Best of luck,

Joe Keaveney - iTCC Admin

Sign-ups

All currently entered drivers in the iTCC can be found in this spreadsheet. Your sign-up details will be added to this list when you sign-up. Please check your race number as it may change after you sign-up.

Any red area on the spreadsheet next to your race entry needs some attention. If you have not yet attached an .SPR hotlap to your sign-up please do so now and reply to this thread informing us you have attached said .SPR file. If your name is in red, please make sure you have given us your FULL name, forename and surname please.

Hi guys,

Yeah so I guess this has arisen due to Ostgaard's penalty, with him unavailable, I took the 16th place driver, as this is my interpretation of the 'top 15 drivers in the Championship' . I don't regard Ostgaard as being in the Championship right now.

What you've highlighted Yann, is that the rules can be interpreted in more than one way. and are therefore ambiguous - the meaning is not clear. So I'll look at a re-write of that rule in order to make it clearer. Just to make it clear as of now, my interpretation is that the top 15 means the top 15 drivers on points, taking into consideration suspension/exclusion.

I'll leave this thread here, I welcome (reasonable!) discussions about what could be improved in iTCC, in the short term and long term, and also it gives racers a place to get something off their chest, and admins a place to explain why things happen as they happen. That's the whole point of a forum IMO.

Warnings

The following drivers receive warnings for infractions during Round 1 of the 2010 iTCC Touring Car Championship

Spectating/Pitting/Disconnecting whilst on track

71 K.Gasiunas (TexasLTU) - Spectating
80 J.Sebire (Worm) - Disconnection
63 P.Peron (theodinho29) - Disconnection
19 R. De Jong (Rikje) - Disconnection
84 T.D'Souza (travyd) - Spectating

Wreckless Driving

44 R.Koots (VtiRacing) - Race 3 - needless weaving & losing control over start/finish line

The drivers listed above are warned that a repeat of their behaviour in future rounds of the iTCC will result in more stringent penalties, including deduction of championship points.

Exclusion

The following driver is excluded from NDR-organised events (including iTCC) for a period of two months from 10/01/10, followed by a period of probation of 4 months.

66 T. Ostgaard - wreckless on-track behaviour in the path of oncoming traffic.

After long discussion, the admin panel felt that the driver's behaviour was not of the standard required for the iTCC.

Quote from NickC :Thanks Joe,

I heard i was p1 so that means i will have 42kgs of ballast voor the qualify and 1st race at KY2R.

right?

Btw, have to give you guys a big thumbs up about how you are running this league!

Well we haven't done the points table yet; we'll do that once the protests (if any) are processed and the results declared. But yeah, if you're P1 in the Championship, you will have 42 Kgs ballast for Qualifying & Race 1 of Round 2.

Quote from NickC :Huh? I heared i have to qualli and race one with 35 kg ballast. ?

Is it going to be reset or? ( maybe i should just read the rules )

Quote :Before each round, the top 6 in the championship will be given ballast, and shall carry the ballast for qualifying and race 1

I think Scott is getting a bit confused Nick, that excerpt is from the rules and is what you're looking for.

It means that if you're FOR EXAMPLE, 2nd in the Championship, then the ballast you'll carry in Qualifying and Race 1 of Round 2 will be 35 Kg.

Hope this clarifies the situation

Cheers

Can I urge all drivers to please submit protests if you have any. Although the admin panel watches and re-watches the replays, we don't have the time to view all races from all driver's points of view.

The best way to improve the standard of competition you meet in the iTCC is to lodge a protest if you feel you have been wronged. We'll take a look, get the other side's point of view also, and then we'll make a decision. Simple.

So please, get those protests in.

Cheers

Question: Is it also forbidden to have a manga picture on the car? Just to know if I can have something else on the roof that doesn't brake the rules.

Manga pictures are okay, just not of the variety you chose the first time

Remove the image on the roof please, IMO (and I'm not entertaining any discussion here) it's against LFSW rules on skin submissions.

My apologies drivers, it was brought to my attention that I hadn't updated you on whether the new ballast system was in force for 2010. (The round-by-round system as used at the Pre-Season Race).

I can tell you now that it is. It's a very simple system, easy to administrate, and was very successful at the Pre-Season race. So for that reason, it will be used at all rounds of the 2010 ITCC Touring Car Championship.

Please read the updated rules in the Rules thread; apologies for the lateness of this notification.

Cheers

@320_ - He's right - I PM'ed you guys to send me your SPRs, if you don't send them, you won't get the server password for pre-qualifying which means you won't get the chance to qualify for Sunday.

Looking forward to receiving your SPRs

Quote from boothy :So number 35 will be in shootout 1, number 77 will be in shootout 2, and number 126 will be in shootout 1.

Or, you might be moved if there would be too many people in one of the shootouts.

@ Oliveira From the recipients of the Race 1 PM, it was sent to the 15 highest drivers in the championship who signed up, so you don't have to pre-qualify.

Yann, I think the top 50 drivers is a rigid amount, but with the main qualifying and the races, if a locked in driver isn't there 10 minutes before the start of qualifying (at 1800) then we'll get the next person in the list from the reserve shootout. I'm sure Joe will confirm that 31 - 15 = 16 soon

Thanks Boothy - yeah spot on - we will take the next person on the reserve list until we have the number of drivers we need for the track we're running on.

And Oliviera, you were PM'ed as you were the 15th highest placed returning driver.

P.S. Entries close at 2200 GMT tomorrow tonight
iCON Racing and New Dimension Racing have merged!
Joe_Keaveney
S2 licensed
Hi everyone,

We are pleased and excited to announce that ICON Racing and New Dimension Racing have merged. The combined team, which will operate under the New Dimension Racing banner, gives its members a much larger base from which to build both a strong racing division, whilst at the same time, the team now comprises several experienced league admins and broadcasters. It is felt that the new team will be more capable on both the racing and administrative front.

The racing division of New Dimension Racing now boasts several talented drivers who together will form the core of NDR's entries into leagues such as GT Amateur League, Desire of Patience Tour, and IGTC. With these drivers in place, NDR will set its sights on becoming a competitive force in the leagues it enters.

The creation of this new team means that the successful iTCC and RACCAR leagues will come under the umbrella of New Dimension Racing, joining other successful leagues such as GTAL, LFSCART, Mini-FBM, and Kyoto 250 and 500. The growth of the team in experienced admins will only serve to improve the racer's experience in the leagues organized by NDR.

With this merger, NDR are changing their online tag format, from the familiar blue, yellow and white [NDR] to an all-blue NDR, followed by a black full stop, then the racer's name in white.

The new members of New Dimension Racing are:

NDR.Joe - Joe_Keaveney - Joe Keaveney
NDR.Tom - snoring_snoopy - Tom Madl
NDR.David - Hypothraxer - David Novak
NDR.Tobba - Laser171107 - Tobias Osterhouse
NDR.Darren - Pantera70 - Darren Taylor

They will be joining the current members of NDR:

NDR.J@tko - J@tko - Jack Atkinson
NDR.JO53PHS - JO53PHS - Joseph Ellis
NDR.Falke - TFalke55 - Thilo Falkenberg
NDR.Timo - hyntty - Timo Hynninen
NDR.dekojester - dekojester - Jonathan Palmer
NDR.Timdpr - timdpr - Tim Russell
NDR.Wilko - Wilko868 - Chris Wilkinson

Skins - Also, the new merger brings a new skin format to NDR, but keeps the familiar style of the old ICON Racing skins.I'm afraid with it being Christmas I haven't had time to make a render of the new NDR skin but I'll give all you guys a look at it as soon as I can!

It only remains for me to say that we're very pleased to be forming this new team, I'm very proud of what we've all achieved so far and I look forward to working together with all the members of the team, whether it be racing together on the track, or creating new leagues for you guys in the LFS community.

Thilo Falkenberg has very kindly took time out over the Xmas period to work on a great little video which gives a taster of the events you can expect from NDR in 2010. Click here.

Thanks,

Joe Keaveney - New Dimension Racing
