Hi, my back wheel is making a strange clicking sound when spinning, you can hear the cassette but also another clicking noise.. I think it might worn hub bearings, although I am not sure.

I have posted a video on youtube which will hopefully explain the problem better.

What should I do?

Thanks.

Toyota Corolla 1.4 vvti 2002-2005 Insurance Quote with a black box: £2658 (I would get this car but I prefer the 2005 models, since they have a new shape, but they are harder to find, plus they're slightly more expensive to buy)

Vw Golf 1.4 2002 Insurance Quote with a black box: £2869 I would get but the mileage is always high on golfs, plus I wouldn't like to keep the car for more than 3 years

Vw Polo 1.4 2001 (60bhp puts me off..) Insurance quote: Similar to the Golf, £2800. I would go for the Polo but 60 bhp puts me off, and I prefer the 2001 or 2007 Model with the facelift, but the 2007 models are harder to find.

Also, if I were to get the 2007 model, I would go for the 1.4 80bhp one, but again, they are hard to find, and go slightly above my budget.

Vauxhall Corsa C 1.4, Honda Civic 1.5 and a Citroen Saxo 1.1 upwards were all above £2800 to insure.

I haven't tried to insure the BMW since parts will be expensive if something goes wrong, and insurance will want something stupid like £5000.

So I guess it's a choice between a:

VW Polo 60bhp older model/80bhp newer but more expensive model

VW Golf 1.4 2002

Toyota Corolla 1.4 vvti 90bhp

OR just pay slightly more on insurance for a Corsa/Fiat Punto/Seat Ibiza 1.4 2002.

If anyone has anymore cars to suggest or what car I should go for on the ones that I have mentioned above, then please say.

See, I wouldn't be so picky about my first car, since most people only keep them and wait for their no claims bonus to kick in, and then buy a new car. However, I want to keep my first car for a lengthy amount of time, like I did with my first push bike.

Quote from Mr_Lonely :First of, concrats.

Have you thought of older volvos ? like 240/740. Maybe not the best looking cars, but they are reliable and easy to work with if something would come up.
Have no idea of what they cost for you and how much the insurence is there.

I've tried getting a quote, but the companies are asking for £4000 or more..

I like the look of a 2005 Toyota Corolla vvti 1.6/1.4 , 1.4 you get 90bhp and with the 1.6, you get 101 (I think) bhp.

The strange thing is that from the Corolla, it's only a tad more expensive to insure than a 1.0L VW Lupo.

Thoughts on the Corolla, or a VW Golf 1.4?
What to get for a first car?

So I passed my driving test last week, and I'm looking at options for a car.
The maximum amount that I'm looking to spend is £2000, since insurance is expensive in the UK for younger drivers.

Something with 60/75bhp or more that is cheap to insure (as in under £3000) would be ideal.People have told me to possibly consider purchasing a VW Lupo, Vauxhall Corsa C/B or a Nissan Micra K11 however, personally I do not like the look of them (sorry to anyone that does own either of these cars).

So if anyone could give me some advice on what car to get that is somewhat good looking and most importantly cheap to insure and reliable, I would very much appreciate that, since I've been looking, but nothing seems to 'wow' me.

Thanks,
Edward.

Hi, a message appears on the screen when I boot up my pc, the message says:

' R520 GL P/N 113-A52018-100 BIOS 1.29V 600e/650m '

I have no idea what this means, but I cannot get to the log-in screen or do anything.

I was getting rid of some dust from my graphics card fan, when I plugged everything back in, this message appeared.

What can I do?

Thanks,

Edward.

Thanks for the replies, I have downloaded Notepad ++ and have managed to make this code, it's very basic but it's as far as I've managed to get for now.

a=msgbox ("Message Test",2+48+vbSystemModal, "gadget:")
if a= vbAbort then msgbox "quit" , vbCritical

This makes a box appear which says "Message Test", it has 3 options, if I click on Abort then another box appears which says "quit".

I would like to know how I can create simple .exe files or my own programmes. For example, I know I probably shouldn't mention it on this forum but lfstweak, that has many options and buttons that affect lfs, I would like to create a very basic program with buttons that do things which is like lfstweak, not for hacking purposes of course though, just for fun.

Would microsoft visual c++ be the best program to do this?
How to code?

Hi, recently I've been looking into tutorials on how to code in Javascript. Ive tried some online sites, yes they are good but the information does not really stick in my head as well as I want it to.

I would like to know the basics of coding and how to create simple .exe applications and vbscrips, html documents and java script apps.

If anyone knows any websites that give clear and simple instructions or is willing to give me a few key facts relating to coding and to what I will need (since I am only using notepad right now for the coding), then I would appreciate that.

Thanks,
Edward.

Mountain Bike Shocks stuck down
eddy678
S3 licensed
I removed the spring from my rockshox absorbers from the front fork on my mountain bike, in order to do so, I needed to remove the cap and then press down slightly, this would cause the shocks to compress and the spring to come up.

Now the shocks are compressed and they are stuck. I've tried to free them by pulling upwards whilst standing on the handlebars when the bike is upside down but they are still stuck.

I am unsure on the exact model of the shocks, I have taken a few pictures which will hopefully explain the problem better. The spring which is shown in the picture is meant to sit fully in the shocks, however it sticks out at the top, this is because of the shocks being compressed down, I have tried pulling on the fork but they will not budge. Would taking the seals (shown in the picture) help me free up the shocks so I can put the spring back in?

How can I fix this?

Thanks,
Edward.

Hi, my Madcatz mc2 wheel for xbox 360 has a problem, the A button does not work.

I am unable to start games such as Forza 4 since it requires the player to press the A button.

Is there a way which I can either use the ' start ' button as the A button or somehow switch between my gamepad and wheel without having to sign in and out of a profile?

Quote from troy :Looks like the Asus one "only" runs with the ivy bridge i5 3337U while the Toshiba got the newer haswell 4200U processor. They are pretty similar on clock speed but the 4200U got the quicker internal GPU. If you're planning on gaming every now and then it may be worth going for the Toshiba.

That is just from a quick glance on the specs that I've found, you should double check if they really run different cpu's

I will go for the Toshiba laptop, plus Toshiba seems to be the bigger brand name. Thank you for the help

Thanks for the help guys, had another lesson today and managed to get used to the feeling of the pedals so I guess it was just down to getting used to the car. I am now able to feel less heavy footed .
Toshiba or ASUS Laptop, need a vote, fast.

So I need a new laptop, I can't decide between the ASUS X550CA 15.6 Laptop and the TOSHIBA Satellite L50-B-137 15.6 laptop. I am going to purchase one of these laptops tonight or tomorrow.

Toshiba has the bigger Hard Drive but the ASUS has had slightly better reviews...what do people think, should I buy the Toshiba or the ASUS? Both cost £380 and have the intel i5 processor.

Thanks,
Edward.
Car pedals question
eddy678
S3 licensed
I had my first driving lesson last Monday and I found the throttle and brake pedal to be a bit too sensitive for my liking. Is this just because of not being used to the car or my seating position being incorrect or simply because of my size 11 feet? The car that I was in was also a 2013 Ford Fiesta (1.0 ecoboost titanium)..

Due to the pedals being sensitive, I found it almost better if I pulled away by just releasing the clutch pedal slowly and not using any gas until I was actually moving. I did this because I found the throttle to be a bit too sensitive for my liking. Is this a good technique to use? If not then I'm just wondering how I can get round the 'pedals feel too sensitive' issue...maybe it's just like riding a bike, I'll get used to the feeling over time?

Thanks,
Edward.
Where to sell a Bicycle ( UK )
eddy678

Hi, I was wondering if there's a website or company by which I can contact that can give me an offer on a bicycle that I would like to sell?

I would post on a facebook selling page but you never know who might turn up at your doorstep.

So if anyone knows of a website/company that value your bicycle or give you money for your old bike, please let me know.

Hi, I installed windows 8 onto my computer but now I am unable to find the driver for my graphics card which works with windows 8. This causes LFS to have very low fps...

Does anyone know where I can find an ATI Radeon Firegl V7200 driver which works with windows 8 (32 bit)?

Thanks,
Edward.

I was on skype and then suddenly the laptop screen just shut off. When I had to reboot the laptop, the colour problem was there again. Is this a graphics card driver bug? :/

Managed to finally fix the problem.

If anyone else has the same problem, here's what to do.

1. restart the laptop and press f10 a couple of times.

2. once the sony vaio recovery program has loaded, click 'restore C drive'

3. once the process has finished, the screen should no longer have the weird colour arrangement. However if it does, keep on reinstalling windows, this is probably some sort of hardware glitch.

NOTE: I attempted to reinstall windows 5 times before the laptop finally let me. If you are simply unable to install windows then I suggest taking the laptop in for repairs. Otherwise, follow these steps and you should be fine . Thank you for the help by the way
