I think I'm severely CPU limited.

The interesting thing for me is even if I run LFS @ 1024x960 or 2880x1800 the avg fps remains very similar

Here is my 2880x1800 results.

Didn't do anything special on Windows 8.1 x64 here either, it just worked from my previous install folder that I copied to C:\LFS.

I do run other games that require dx9 and probably installed the dx9 executables some time ago automagically with another game?

I think the FFB is lacking in AC, dunno why it's so hard to get a proper setting?

I'm using the following with my DFGT, eliminates most of the wobbling when idling and on straights. Combined with 80% overall effects in profiler on 900deg rotation.

I do like to feel some road effects but they tend to overpower everything else, kerb effects feel good

Depressed, no job-no money looking for something to do.. my psychiatrist has prescribed me AC but it doesn't fill the void.

Quote from The Very End :Live in your little bubble mate, please do ^^
Alltho I know you are trolling, and if not - then you truelly are one ignorant little...thing.

While LFS was groundbreaking for it's time, now almost every aspect of LFS is adopted in other games, perfected and improved. LFS was great, but it stoped, the gaming industry did not and while LFS had advantages in the earlier days it's miles behind the rest at current time.

That said, LFS is still great, but it just canot compete.
The only thing that LFS actually has which other games might lack, is a great netcode and a fast and easy way to join other people in race.

So to sum it all up, LFS was and is great, but the development of the game could not keep up with the rest of the gaming industry and technology. It remains as a nostaly factor for the people that does not want to move on and admit that the newcomers (not just AC in particullary here) are actually pretty damn good. This means however that the newcomers are not perfect, they have flaws, but then again: LFS had and has flaws too so saying anything is superior compared to the other is wrong.

I am not trolling, or a little...thing.....AC feels like a dumbed down version of LFS. You can't even oversteer/understeer properly.

Now I've only played the pre-release version so maybe things have changed and it didn't run nearly as good as LFS on my core i5 PC. Yes the graphics are nice but the gameplay on whole is nowhere near as good as LFS.

I believe nithing from LFS has been perfect by other sims. LFS is stil ground breaking and will be even better with the new physics and new track and car.

Quote from Mysho :The typical process for every (serious) racer:

1. Be entertained with LFS for first couple of years
2. Join leagues, win races, be happy about what you achieved
3. When you have time, do some hotlaps, upload it to LFSW and see how awesome you are
4. Be less entertained with LFS for next couple of years
5. Be sad about old content and that you still drive same old thing over and over again without lack of updates which you were used to
6. Stop playing LFS that much
7. Start occupying forum instead of turning on LFS
8. Raise your post count, don't turn LFS at all from now on
9. Moan about how old LFS is and how you don't have time for that because your real life finally advanced somewhere
10. Remember some nostalgie memories every now and then
11. Be still around if something pops up in following 5 years.
12. Never give up on LFS as a whole, because it did find you some friends and gave some really nice memories in past

Sums me up pretty well... although my post count here isn't boosted much and my hotlaps suck lol

Dust is cleaned regularly.

I'm getting a new gpu soon so will see if that fixes it.

Not like that no, I can't alt-tab to anything or do anything else... the whole pc crashes, if i could alt tab I would get a crash address and give it to Scawen.

Quote from rediske :So you still don't know if your GPU is heating up or not ?

Use this tool: http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

...set it on logging temps to a file and then give your GPU some heavy stuff to do...

After your pc crashed open the logfile and see in what direction the temps developed.

post 5 quote my gpu temps I got using gpuz, fan speed didn't even near 100% so the gpu is obviously fine heat wise. LFS is the most graphic intensive program I have which I've ran and logged the temps were fine.

Thanks, hopefully this thread gets some people with the same problem sharing ideas...

I'll try that Intel app.. thanks.
My GPU could be the problem, it is getting old... I'm using 280.26 drivers which I just updated last week. This has happened with new and old drivers.

Quote from Racon :How long do you wait before a hard reset? I used to hard reset, then I noticed that it did unfreeze if I left it long enough. Sometimes a minute, sometimes 10 :/

I'm not going to risk my pc in a crash loop for a minute or 10

Quote from Gener_AL (UK) :Corruption is usually a drive or a memory issue.
Temps seem fine.
Run memtestx86 / chkdsk also.

*edit*
One thing you havent mentioned if its Just LFS that this is happening with.

I think the reboot during accessing the files that contained my player info and setup would've corrupted them.

Yes just lfs, I don't play any other games. Running win 7 x64 if it helps.

Anyone have any idea on player files I can delete?

Found it, it's in the misc folder...

It's not an AV thing, this pc has none of that and is behind a firewall and everything etc.... I can not just alt-tab, the computer needs a hard reset. It's not a memory or cpu thing either, with linx running I can play a replay fine although very choppy since all processing is done by linx.

This has only happened since 0.6B, didn't happen before that...
