I know what LFS is not.

It is not Racing Legends. And I thank Moses for that every time I fire LFS up.

btw, I have some swell RL swag for sale if your interested.

Here's my new setup, fresh out the wrapper. This was just a quicky to get it plugged in and working. Once I build another game pc, I'll move it away from my main desk.

Well, with nothing left try, I have commited the old Momo to it's grave in my new empty G27 box.

MUHUHAHAHAHA

Shifting with the H and Clutch as raw antics. I'm having to retrain my brain.
Sad Momo. No lights, no power, dead.

Having just rcv'd and setup my Obutto for the holiday vacation. Plugged in a new 23" Acer.

I have become a victim of irony and feel like a the ski guy from CBS World Sports "Agony of Defeat" (if your old enough to remember that)

My beloved Logi Momo of 4+ years will not power on. Dead. Silent. Still. Lifeless.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

And it appears that a replacement is not easily found. BestBuy, NewEgg, Amamzon, they are all gone. The only option is a G27 (which is not what I want). I actually prefer the Momo greatly over the G.

There's goes my vacation plans. I am so sad and defeated.

I just signed up. Privateer backmarker #80

Just finishing the race will be a good result for me.

Well, sometimes widening means to increase the length between the 2 turns of the chicane. So that boths turns of the chicane actually function as turns instead of speed bumps.

Of course. I am not Troy Lee and I couldn't hope to redraw what he drew.
It did require some creative snipping, cropping, and squezzing, but that's basically what I did. I think yours looks pretty good though. As does mine. If I ever finish it :P

Thanks for all the comments on what was a fairly knee jerk post whilst thinking of racing while I had to work.
To most of the -1 people, you have taken your desire to post rants beyond actually thinking, or being provoked to think, more deeply about what I suggest.

The title of course is completely over the top and blantant. But it's gets peoples attention yes?
It's absolutely typical of people to say go NFS, or go Oval, or drag and stuff. And I ignore most of these comments really.

The CoRe guys speak most closely about what I was thinking about it. The chicanes are not functioning as they should given the in game performance and simulation. On almost all the tracks, with just a couple exceptions, the chicanes are worthless.

And Nighthawk, don't correct yourself, you were right on your first post.
Note, saying remove a chicane, does not equal make it a straight. Think outside the box man. More turns = better, yes. A chicane is not a turn. It is an interruption of a turn or section.

Quote from wiki :A chicane (originally meaning subterfuge) is a sequence of tight serpentine curves (usually an S-shape curve or a bus stop) in a roadway, used in motor racing and on city streets to slow cars. On modern raceways, chicanes are usually located after long straightaways, making them a prime location for overtaking.

Now, this wiki-def is by no means some bible law, but it does apply generally to the topic. The last part as well I think is incorrect. ANY braking zone is an overtaking area.
The placement of a chicane at the end of a long straight does not promote overtaking any more then a 90deg turn at the end of that straight. What the chicane does do however, is restrict that short section to one racing line only.

No, more turns the better, but there are some chicanes that are really not turns.
But whatever.

-1's ouch.

Remove All Chicanes

Before I make an Improvement Suggestion I thought I'd drag by the General mob.

Chicanes -- what are they good for?

Most real life tracks install or build-in chicanes in order to slow the cars down for safety.
We are virtual, there is zero safety to worry about. We should be going hella fast (and usually are).

There are several chicanes that are simple "cut here" markers. And servers have taken as many steps as possible to put in bumpers to stave people off from them. Is this is so, Remove the Chicane.

In general, if any Track is being reviewed for udpates from the devs, they should first look at any chicanes on that track and do all possible to remove them.

This is Live For Speed after all.

(just a thought, not a whine)

BTW, despite my best attempts at breaking the thing, I just re-lubed, put it back to together, and all is well.

I'd say that the little tab wiggled out of it's holder too much, and that caused the issue. I think. We'll see if/when next time it happens. But for now, all good.

Got to try it last night over beers and stuff. Only ran it in GTR2 (911 and Saleen).

It is nice. But I wasn't sold. The shifter is kind of gimmick imho. The gates are not greatest feeling, and I wanted to take the ball off and just use the shaft to shift. Kind of like a little switch. I'm sure it gets easier with use. I only managed to blow the engine once on a bad downshift to the wrong gear.

The wheel feels really great. I still don't like only 2 buttons (coming from Momo which is best imo). I never used the paddels so don't know about them. The feedback and all that is top of course.

The pedals I am really crossed up about. The feel is great, but my boats are too big. Even with just socks, they are all just to close together for me. With normal shoes forget it.

In the end, I don't think I like the G25 enough to outweigh the Momo Black's lower cost. I'd buy it for the pedals if there was no clutch and the spacing was better but I don't like the button/shifter unit either. So to me, imho, best would a 2 pedal G25 base with the MomoBlk upper. I'd pay $150 for that. Come on Logitech, realease one more version of the Momo Black with a 2-Pedal G25 base.

(this review is only from about a hour of play before we moved on to more beer and other games)

I'm going over to my friends tonight to give his G25 a spin. I'll post my feedback sometime.

I love my MomoBlk wheel. But my pedals are borked right now.

Hey NightHawk, hell yeah, I was just getting into it and all of the sudden I was trail braking the entire lap. Haha.
So, I had the whole thing apart last night and even put a order in to DigiKey for the $17 pot kit (backordered though, maybe not available).

That's a good link, I found some other old forum posts from 2004 that had good info as well, including the Digi-Key replacement part.

So, I took a good look and all the external bits looked great. I rotated the pot with my finger after I got it out and I think it's internal. It feels rough at times, then smooth. The actual range of motion of the pedal opposed to the full pot range is quite small.

Mines a Refurb from an online store, so it's true age is unknown. I've used it for about 2 years I think at least.

And I really can't see the value in putting FrexGP SuperTurboIntercooledHaliBot Pot in there at $55.
MOMO Black, Brake Pot gone?

Of all the darn luck, I was just started to think I was really slow (okay I am a little) when all the sudden it was like I could even get to 4-5 gear on BL1R on CRTA.

A went to check calibration and my Brake axis would not go out all the way. So I was dragging like 10-20% braking all over the place.

I exited, and check Control Panel, it did the same thing. Brake Pot seems to have messed up?

Is surgery in order? Does this sound hardware or software?

Damn, I hate when this happens.

So after disection and some web searching all those hours of waiting for RL was not wasted. I recalled this problem from the past.

This is a Google cache link with highlighting so you can skip to relevant posts more quickly
"Only 80% of Gas" RSC.net

I am prepared to take pictures of with my computer microscope in order to solve this software/hardware conspiracy theories.
I believe this is a hardware problem completely. The software solutions only mask the fault reading of the pot. Either due to the pot internal, or it's holding pin.

See this page from some good pictures and solid content.

So now my only question is..
Where can I get some really cool pots to put in this thing?

PS . let me know if anyone wants pictures while I've got it open. Although I'm sure they are Internetted somewhere.

Hats off, good job.

The first part went pretty well, the rest will take some time and I'm likely to screw it up. But so far, I am pleased it looks as well as it does.
