Stunning. This thread went from weird to worse and is filled with incredible amounts of nescience. You make yourself look stupid when arguing about things you don't even have a faint grasp on the facts.

Also, I think the demo is perfectly fine as it is, it still has the same content when I started playing years back (apart from remarkable physics updates of course!), it's ongoing fun and I appreciate that it doesn't slap you "BUY ME, YOU LITTLE PRICK!" splash screens in your face before playing, while playing and even after playing all over the place. Though you miss so much more with a full license, I'm not certain that I'm satisfied with the development over the past few years and the future anymore. Iirc I even pre-ordered my S2 license back then because the game was awesome fun and I was very satisfied at the time :P

Though I'd love some modifications, especially new tracks. For example tracks heavily inspired (not copied *cough*) by Trial Mountain, SS R5 or Grand Valley from Gran Turismo 1 ... I do love those and actually, after playing some GT2 again, I'm craving for it but it may just remain wishful thinking.

Once upon a time Scawen wrote that there may be tools for modding when S2 is "done" but alas... S2 is in alpha for ages and as many other old players, I don't know what to believe and what to expect for the future, maybe they'll add the Sicrocco in a year or two *shrugs* :P

Can we have S2 Vertigo Refueled?

It happens to me *all* the time, not when a skin is being downloaded only. Every time someone joins the race really. Regardless of the server being crowded or just a few people online.

I've been away for quite some time and actually never had any serious problems until now. Every time someone (pits and re-) joins the race my LFS stalls for a fraction of a second (anywhere inbetween 100 and 500 ms, I guess) and the sound makes a short crack, probably due to LFS taking that short break. Also FF sometimes turns off during that period. This makes up for some serious interference as I usually go crash in turns or tight situations.

My machine profile is Win2k SP4, Athlon XP [email protected] 2048MB RAM, Radeon 9100, SB!Live. My drivers are up to date (well, the SB!Live is "end of service life" heh). Nothing running in the background that could possibly interfere with LFS, I have my AV turned off even. I know this has been an issue in the far past when I didn't have any problems :P

/edit: Since LFS has been known to be sensitive with overclocking, it didn't help setting the multiplicator back to 11.5, for the notes.

I read the Test Patch notes and while reading through the scripts commands, something came to my head very quickly. What about a script-command to change the "Wheel/Driver"-View setting?

I mean the option in the View menu where you can set DRIVER on WHEEL on, DRIVER off WHEEL on, DRIVER off WHEEL off. I got it set to off/off (because the wheel is always partially hiding the dashboard) except for the forumula chars with the displays on the steering wheels, then I switch it from off/off to off/on all the time

Hm if its Managed C++ using .NET you should be able to add the library as a "Reference" like the .NET Assemblies in the GAC (System, System.Data, System.Windows.Form, ...). Just "Browse" for it in the add dialog.

It doesn't make it superior for me with adding a Formula 1 car, even if its the third real car (along with the MRT5 and RAC). I know F1 from years ago and I formerly watched it with interest but I don't think its the kings of all motor sports. Maybe the kings of formula motor sports? There's speed, drama and excitemen in other motor sports as well

I also never liked F1 games that much

I guess there's still some stuff to do about the LFS patch and that is... less time for working on the kitchen's cooking physics. But I hope this will be worked on soon, the oven is heating up way too fast when cooking and it seems like it doesn't wear out at all, also my oven gets dirty very quick. It just doesn't feel right... especially when touching it *ouch* I hurt myself and spin out of the kitchen illepall

If I remember correctly there weren't any serious problems when the LFS Alpha was released due to a good bunch of mirrors and I actually don't expect to not get the patch when it is released. So... don't worry on the day, when the Guru is giving back TEH Patch

Well.. don't keep it a secret that the Guru is having a lot of fun atm, doing 59.99 and below on Blackwood, uh?

Rumours say, the Guru stole TEH patch and the devs hired Scottland Yard to find him and bring back TEH patch!

I can't remember one (about girls or women) atm but I still remember the one my roomate told me. So.. we were sitting together and talking and it was about something dream-related so she told me that one dream she got once.

She does some painting from time to time and once dreamed, she went in to her former roommate's room at night, with a brush in her hands and cut her all over the body while she was asleep. Seriously! She just killed her with a brush! Hence my smile "Ah.. okay..".

Well yes, they didn't like each other very much. None of them washed the dishes, food got alive in the fridge, nobody wanted to bring out the dea... I mean, gargabe and things like that, that make you hate each other over time.

Edit: Btw, she was very calm when telling me, guess it was kinda satisfying?

Woah. I Just remembered the strange dream I had this very morning. The starrings were me, VvV, some guy I don't know, a white shark and... something else you'll discover later in the text

Things I'm not sure about are marked with (?). Okay, listen...

I used to live together(?) with VvV and another guy I don't know. One day, VvV kinda bored said: "I wanna do something weird, something exciting, something noone has done for ages!". We were hardly thinking and the guy I don't know said: "Hey... maybe tame a white shark? This has noone done for ages!", VvV excitedly agreed. OMG.

The other day I came into the bathroom and guess what I was seeing? Correct. There was a baby white shark in the bath tub.

Later on... (dream jumps in time?)...

I heard loud noises from the bathroom, I assumed the washing machine was badly damaged and is flooding the bathroom. But guess what I saw? Indeed.

It was Triple-V fighting in the bath tub with an approximately one meter long white shark. I watched him fighting and the guy I don't know joined as well... a few minutes later he came out of the bath tub (uninjured), swearing like "Oh damnit, everyone can tame a white shark, why is it ME who fails at it!? Ah f..., I give up. What are YOU looking at? Do what you want with it.", while leaving the bathroom.

The guy I don't know and me looked at each other and smiled, then looked at the shark and said: "Wtf? I'm NOT gonna touch it!" ... "Me neither!".

The dream then jumps another time in time...

Some morning I came into the bathroom, kinda tired, I just woke up. I couldn't believe what I saw, there was a baby snake in the basin! OH ZEH GODS. Now VvV was trying to tame a cobra!?

The mini-snake set up for a jump while showing his tiny little teeth while I tried to avoid being bit and fled to the exit. But I was too late... the snake jumped and just bit in my hand already and in real-life I woke up twitching... I was shocked. I also overslept, damnit

So, this was the weird dream I got. Serriously. Just in case you want to know before moving together with the guy I don't know and/or VvV

(LFS-Jeopardy: Beside LFS, he likes to tame animals and play golf online.)

You can set roll values. "You cannot control the custom view camera" <- That was meant to be, that you cannot change the 'offset' of the camera like you do in LFS options.

I just fired up the LFS.Live 0.0.2 version where's the working camera position utility and can possibly say something about what camera positions is possible. No warranties though :P

You can rotate, pitch and roll your cockpit and custom view camera (Frankmd: Set the 'view override' flag in CamPosPacket IS_CPP for making the "roll" value work.). You can go beyond the limited like 5m height in Shift+U mode but you cannot "roll" (/tilt) the camera and no other camera can be rolled atm. You cannot change the FOV to below 12° or abover 120°.

Indeed, the only way to have one (really only one) camera like "mounted" is to use the custom view. The custom view settings cannot be changed via InSim though.

Now that's some really hard stuff to get a program really interesting stuff. For like switching to a spinning car would not be that hard, though the defined threshold of a spin will be probably so high that you won't catch the whole spin or it will constantly switch cars if it is set to low. We know you can catch that, Silkswift's LFS Marshal already did something like this IIRC.

And it should also be possible to detect some "close racing" via MCI/NLP packets, I've just implemented some kind of "live positioning" and "overtake count" in my .NET Assembly (there was the Race Tracking Discussion - Position determined by node thread on RSC ).

For the cameras.. it will be tricky to get the cars onto screen while in Shift+U and taking turns, won't it? I don't know if you can calculate the correct heading value constantly just by knowing "I am in front of the car" and the car positions/heading from IS_MCI packets. But nice Shift+U cameras were always awesome in videos IIRC

But I don't know if it works out to be possible and quite amazing to set a few sequences of camera's around the tracks. Hm, guess it's some kind of art of actually using the program then.
