Sorry to revive this thread after several months.

I'm writing an article about the development structure of the Project CARS and I'm looking to speak to anyone who's invested in the game who'd be willing to briefly talk (via PM) about their experience with the CARS community and the game itself. Please send me a PM if you're interested!

I've been out of iRacing for exactly three years. I rejoined at the weekend, and started practising in the MX5 for the Grand Touring Cup at Mosport.

But now the track for that series has changed to CoTA? Do tracks rotate every week now or did I start practising at the end of a season?

Edit: Further reading answered my question. Track changes every week.

Just had a couple of races - surprising how similar to LFS the netcode feels. With that said, certainly needs refinement but it's super impressive how good it is at this stage. I did turn into an aeroplane at one point, but I guess that's to be expected.

I played a pre-alpha version of the game for an hour this morning - you can read my thoughts here: http://www.expertreviews.co.uk ... codemasters-refined-racer

In short: yes, it's simcade but it feels infinitely better than Grid 2, and I genuinely think that if you temper your expectations - ie it's not Assetto Corsa - you'll have fun. Assuming the career mode isn't a load of crap.

Oh, and I played it with a controller so I can't comment on input lag and all that jazz.

Terrific weekend as always. Thanks to Jason and his wife who kept us fed and, more importantly, drunk for significant periods of the time. Also thanks to Bob Smith whose jelly shots and weird rum jelly babies were... an experience.

Oh, I should also mention that I crashed into just about every object on and off the track at G-Force. But there was some quality racing out there and the worst injury I sustained (other than my pride and confidence in my driving ability) was a splinter from leaning on a fence.

Quote from boothy :Or you could just get a train up to Abergavenny?

Did not know you could do that. I'll do some research!

And thanks, Jason

I'm in. Legitimately (I've paid).

Will need some vehicular assistance to/from Newport station: whoever takes up the challenge will be rewarded with some beer of their choice (I have a job now, I can totally afford extravagant purchases...).

I'd like to formally express my interest in this. I can't quite pay yet so feel free to keep me on the possible list, but I've pencilled the day in my diary.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'm going to write a short piece this week about some of the examples you guys have come up with. Will give ya'll credit.
Virtual Motor Sport Series with Real Opportunities?

Hello all, long time no post.

With today's bonkers announcement of the Tom Onslow-Cole-backed 'TOC Clio Series', I'm trying to think of other examples of real-life racing teams/series trying to find 'the next big thing' on the real-life track.

Off the top of my head I can think of two others: The Gran Turismo one and the LFS one, which involved Formula BMWs (just remembered, GT Academy and V1 Championship).

If anyone could provide the names of others, it would be very much appreciated.

But are you going to add each other on Facebook again?

Not sure what's going on - the site is saying the league number is invalid. I'll try again tomorrow.

Great weekend - mega thanks to Jason and his family for being so accommodating for the fourth year in a row. Happy 10th birthday, LFS!

Quote from adamlfs :Michael, I can take you back to the station if you like. I plan to leave around that time anyway.

Don't worry about the petrol

Thanks Adam, sounds perfect. But I will give you some money anyway as thanks for the camping debarcle.

Quote from jasonmatthews :Michael, Tongey will pick you up

Great, thanks Jason. Could you PM me his mobile number? Just in case my trains fail.

Hey all, very very much looking forward to the event now. Happy to pay the extra £25 for extra kart-time also (even though I distinctly remember almost falling out of the kart last year because my upper, middle and lower-body had given up. I'm less fit than I was last year, so good luck to me and whoever my teammate is.

Jason - just to confirm, I have booked a train that arrives at Newport at 0930 on Saturday. Am I still correct in thinking someone will be able to pick me up? Secondly, I have booked a train at 1332 on Sunday - is it likely I could get a lift back as well? Obviously I will pay petrol money for both journeys.

Hey Jason - what's the latest I could arrive at Newport Station to be picked up to get to G-Force? The earliest arrival I could possibly get on Saturday is half 9.

The second question is, are entries still open? Sorry for being so late to inquire - I've been unsure as to my living/work/education arrangements until recently.

Yep, thanks to those who watched. I just watched the finish on YouTube - simply incredible! I'm sad I wasn't there to commentate the finish, but despite the safety cars, I had a lot of fun for the first two hours. Looking forward to the next one!

Re: the video - I'd hope to have it done within two weeks, but as ever with me, it could be 2 days or it may even be 2 years. But if anyone posts any more pictures of me, expect it to be 2 decades.

Aside from that, many thanks to Jason for a third year of awesomeness. I'm pretty much back to full health other than the fact that my left leg is making it pretty hard to walk long distances. But that's normal, right?
BBC & SKY to Share F1 in the UK from 2012

Details: SKY will have all of the coverage of all races LIVE (including practice, qualifying and races) on TV, on mobile and online (with no adverts reportedly) whereas the BBC will show 'key' races (up to half of the season) LIVE with coverage on TV and online for those races.

Thoughts? The death of casual F1? What was needed?

FYI those outside of the UK, the BBC is our licence fee-paid public broadcaster and Sky is a News Corp-owned subscription network.

Interesting - the graph shows that with an increase in hats, the amount of hats may increase or decrease. Valve are genii!

Battlefield 3 is going to cost a lot more than £30 for a lot of people because they want to see it in its full glory! I think I won't even buy it until I have a job, which is when I'll be able to afford a 'boss' computer to run it. Until then, I'll just have to watch YouTube videos and cry.

Quote from Kid222 :Nice shot sir.

Also i recommend Hampshire Heavies servers, they have 3-4 running, all are full most of the day though. Admins always present, good and fair game on 24 slot server with some skill, always a pleasure.

Thanks, I'll search for them next time I'm playing. I generally play on Uberium.co.uk because they are the only UK-based completely Vanilla server I know of. I can't stand 32 player instant respawn!

I've never been involved in so many team scrambles as I have been in the last week. Clearly the newer players need some assistance. Aside from that, I'm still happy it's Free-to-play: More people to play with, and more support for a game who's sales were declining after four years.

Also, the replay editor is fun.
