I'm sorry Rudi. That's at 7am start my time, and I'm not going to be able to make it. Wish I lived in the UK time zone n still lived in Australia lol.

You've touched on a real hole in LFS. The entire sound engine needs reworking. I applaud the changes you recommend. However I'd like it to go further. We need the sounds from the suspension working, stones etc hitting insides of fenders... the sounds of the entire car flexing. Race 07 sim gives an excellent example of how to do this well. On top of this, the car needs to move around the driver, particularly going over bumps, and particularly the natural movements of the driver as his whole body attempts to lean into corners. Currently this is poorly simulated with just a slight head tilt. I'd like to see the current driver positioning controls be made dynamic in 3 dimensions. So he bounces & strains against the harness over bumps. My ultimate wish list is the driver being thrown forward in a crash against his harness... small movements but add to the immersion.

On the whole, I'd like to see the sound and dynamics of the car/driver be brought up to date with the new immersion sensations of Race 07. LFS is a much better sim than Race 07, but doesn't compare with the immersiveness & intensity of Race 07 or netKar Pro.

I'm sick of non real tracks. I really want to see what it's like to drive on a real track. Bathurst is my dream in an FXR or any of the cars really. It's a sublime track.

As for this idea, I'm all for going to an Rfactor style of modding, but it should be open for us to decide. People will decide online pretty quick what is good n not.

It looks like the display problem is a faulty Nvidia 7600 GT, which my supplier is going to repair under warranty.

However I'm still left with no pedals and it doesn't make sense they'd just stop. Usually there's some indication of a failure. Any ideas anyone?

Wingman Formula Force USB - Pedals don't work

Hey,

I've got a Wingmand formula Force USB (Obviously), and the pedals just stopped working. I wanted to uncombine my thottle n brake n a friend suggested you can do it in the logitech profiler. So I got one, installed it, and from then on, my pedals failed to work, and won't work ever since.

The profiler says it doesn't detect any controller. In Control Panel Game Options, the wheel is there. The wheel works, as do the buttons n paddles, but the pedals are totally ignored.

I tried everything to get it back so eventually reinstalled windows (twice a complete install including format) but still no pedals.

On top of that, it's lost a floppy drive (who cares) and when I go to add my Nvidia 7600 GT drivers, I end up with 640x400 res with 4 bit (eeyuk) colour. The only way to get it back is uninstall the drivers.

I can't work out what the hell is going on, it was all fine until I installed the profiler to get the pedals separated.

Does anyone have the slightest clue on how to fix this please? I'm at my wits end. With the vid card, I did open up computer totally clean it out, removed the card and cleaned the contacts & replaced it. Same with the pedals. On top of all that, with the crap graphics I can't run any games.

Desperately in need of help.

Don't be cheap and pay up. S2 is all you expect of it and more (cept for the fox which is dead). As has been stated many times, Absolutely not, last thing we need in S2 is all those wreckers, not that they'd last long.

One side of me thinks you've got it too good in demo, n it should be limited, but the other side remembers the online racing added alot to my interest in buying S2. If I'd just seen the offline, and not been exposed to online, I wouldn't have bought S2 (let's face it, its and online game, offline sux). So; no, buy it if u want to see S2. Compared to other games, LFS is damn cheap!

AHhh the stutter problem. I know this... I had the same problem. It's nothing to do with the net. It's caued by two problems with your system. 1. Your hard disk is too old and too slow, and you don't have enough memory. What happens is windows ends up swapping to disk all the time when you're playing, and the slow disk is using up the CPU which is causing your stuttering (lagging) problem. One way to check this, is watch your hdd light when ur in live for speed driving (not easy to do lol), particularly when its stuttering. If it's coming on when it stutters, you've found your problem. Upgrade mem & hdd (fast as u can get on both).

That will almost certainly solve the problem. Fixed my stuttering problem imedeately, which had exactly the same symtoms.

As I said... I'd tried that, obviously... originally it said I had 3 axis, X, Y & Z. Now it says I only have 2, x & y. So throttle n brake have to be linked. I want to know how to get the z axis back. Someone must know.

Can you please fix the FOX back to what it used to be in X. Patch Y took the life out of it. Presumably to use to be the base of the FMB build. Now you've got the FBM, there's no reason to put the excitement back into the fox. It feels dead now. To prove that, you only have to compare driving it in patch Y, then drive it in patch x. They are radically different. Then it might start getting used again like it used to be. No one runs fox servers anymore, especially on aston club, which in redline racing 2 was always full.

Hey,

I was wondering if any of you know of a way to have the thottle and brake work independantly in LFS? When I first connected it a year ago, it worked independantly for about 30 minutes. Ever since then, its only able to work linked. So throttle cancels brake n vice versa. Anyone know how to separate them? I know there's an option in Options/controls lol but its greyed out ever since that first time.

His main issue is the changes to the Fox on As2 which is where he used to love racing. We're all aware of the detrimental effect those changes have made to racing the fox on as2. He loved that car/track n now is seriously peed off about it... personally, so am I. lol

I'm a mate of Marcus, n that's his and I have to say my issue also. Oh well,... nothing will change... which is why I don't use lfs anymore.

Actually, HL's were not reset in the last 3 patches (excluding Patch Y).

I have to agree with you Marcus. Since Patch Y was released, click on any of the car types and you are lucky to get 1/2 page of occupied servers. n yes, it did used to be 2-3 pages of them.

The biggest effect is of course the fox on as2. Patch Y killed the interest in that. I can only think, the tv deal put stars in their eyes n they lost their way because of it. Problem is, they forgot LFS is a global product, not local.

It's a shame, I loved LFS. I used to race it everyday for hours. Now; I hardly ever race since patch Y. For me, it just killed it! Which is a real shame, because it was an awesome game. The FXR on as3 is still awesome, n that seems the only saving grace. The fox though might as well be removed, as it was certainly killed.

I also think you are right about the business side. It's obvious to anyone who was involved deeply in LFS pre-patch Y how few people are on these days. Oh well... that's life... tell you what though, the only thing that would get me to buy S3 now, would be if they added Bathurst track. Other than that, as far as I'm concerned; its dead.

Dead Simple. Add V8 Supercar AND Bathurst track to race them on If you're still dry after driving that there, there's something wrong with you lol
Venus

Absolutely Bathurst. Anyone who has driven Bathurst for real would love it. From late entry onto entry of Skyline (across the top), its all late entries, n you can take the entire top flat out. The way the car skitters on the edge of balance down thru the twisty bits off skyline is definitely pucker facter 10. lol

Most definitely the best track in the world.

Personally, I vote no for one very good reason. Since the release of patch Y, I don't believe they deserve it. They ruined the game with that patch.

There's masses n masses of servers. Just that most of them are empty. For any car type, with empty off, I rarely see more than 1 page for SS & GTR. As far as I can see it, LFS is dead. Except for conedodgers, most places only have a few players. I don't race anymore since the patch came out. I think that killed it, and that's why there's no one on anymore cept for lots of empty servers. Might be different in diffrnt time zone though differnt time of day.

Its' got nothing to do with the wheel. Sheesh. Just adjust the steering lock in your setup. Reduce it. The higher the steering lock angle, the more twitchy the car. If your not used to that, then it'll feel twitchy as hell. eg on fox as2, I use 16 deg, on fxr I use 20. Its nothing to do with ur wheel. Change steering lock. Dead easy.
Bah!!! Patch Y sux

I'm going over to rFactor... this has been ruined now. Fox feels dead now.

Big problem with that is you extend your braking distance because you no longer are using engine braking.
Venus

Another problem with the race tests I did, was an AI passing another AI, the first one would sometimes just brake, even on a straight or anywhere really. Thought that very odd.

The main thing I don't like is the step back from realism with the rev limiter. Real cars don't limit revs, its up to the driver to control that. You took away throttle blip etc that's fair enough, it adds realism, but to then take away driver control of his revs, I think is a step backward. I suspect the real formula bmw is limited revs since it's a training formula class. I know you are mad on realism, and I love realism, and stepping away from realistic rev control is a bad idea.
