All drivers entered to the 2024 E-Challenge are automatically assumed to be attending every round, so a proactive "yes" confirmation is not required this season.

Drivers must provide a "no" if they cannot make a round, or they risk being dropped from the series entry list, and will have to re-enter.

Because we understand that things come up last minute, we give some extra time to tell us the "no" - if you will miss or do miss the round you have until 23:59 UTC on Monday, April 22, 2024 before entry list purge processing takes place.

Race Day passwords will be PMd to all competitors shortly before the event start.

Revision 2 of the regulations has been posted with the OP. Changes marked in red.

Some language fixes to try to clarify some procedures.

Attack Mode usage reduced to 1 in the Sprint Race. Remains 2 in the Feature Race.

Added a regulation that a season-long briefing must be read and confirmed that it was read - that briefing will be posted in the next 24 hours.

MRc E-Challenge 2024 - Announcement

Hello racers!

The E-Challenge is back for it's 4th season!

Michal Malek (michal 1279) is once again the man with the grand plan, and we at NDR are happy to partner with him and Sim Broadcasts to bring you another season of the LFS version of Formula E!

The E-Challenger EVO mod will be used once again, and will still be restricted in races to 301 kW of power, but you'll be at full 350 kW in Qualifying and the Qualifying duels. This season, we are making Race 1 a Sprint race, where energy conservation is not the name of the game, we will see what you can do without having to worry about making your batteries last the length of the run. The Feature Race will remain the standard stretch the batteries to go the distance.

Also gone this year, the bumpy physics exploiting boost zone. We are using the live settable Player Handicaps that were added to the sim after last season to on-the-fly give you the Attack Boost, the same way it's been done before in Fomrula E. You will have a target zone to drive through to activate Attack Boost, which will give you 4 minutes of full 350 kW power. You'll get two of these activations in each race session. With this change, we are also removing the PowerUp Wildcard from last season.

The experimental weather system remains the same, and is unchanged. You will be given a weather forecast ahead of each round, and then wait to see if we're any better at predicting the weather than the real meterologists you listen to for your weather.

All races will be streamed live by our good friends at Sim Broadcasts

2. Communications:
All drivers are required to be in the NDR TeamSpeak server: teamspeak.newdimensionracing.com - Race Control messages will be broadcast to anyone in a channel in the Pit Wall in TS. If you would like a subchannel for your team or friendly drivers, please let us know and we will create one.
Make sure you have your race number and/or your LFS username as your nickname on TeamSpeak

If you need to downloat the TeamSpeak 3 Client, please visit https://teamspeak.com/en/downloads/#ts3client and select the appropriate download for your client system.

3. Broadcast
This race will be broadcasted by Sim Broadcasts: https://twitch.tv/simbroadcasts

They will be in the NDR TeamSpeak. You are invited to be interviewed on stream during the breaks between sessions. Please follow their terms listed at https://simbroadcasts.tv/voice - we will apply those to our Commentary Box area.

4. Driver Naming:
Be sure to be in your proper name format: Number, [space], first initial, dot, last name [eg. 00 J.Provost].

The car number must be in white. Your name may be in colour.

5. Virtual Safety Car Test
Should time permit, there will be a test Virtual Safety Car deployment in the free practice session, starting approximately 5 minutes remaining in the session. All drivers are encouraged to participate in this test.

6. Pit Entry and Pit Exit
On pit entry, all parts of the car must be to the right of the blend line along its entire length.
On pit exit, all parts of the car must be to the right of the blend line along its entire length.

7. Qualifying Procedure
Qualifying will be set to 22 minutes, with the pit exit closed for the first two minutes. The fast lane will be closed until declared open by the race director, at which time drivers may queue at pit exit in single file. The course will open for laps with 20 minutes remaining, and remain open until the time has elapsed. The pit exit will close at the chequered flag. No driver should exit the pitlane without sufficient time to start a timed lap.

Qualifying is run in Semi-Hardcore mode. This means drivers are only permitted to Shift+S or Shift+P from within the pit lane itself. Any driver spectating outside of the pit lane will not be allowed to rejoin the session.

8. Race Start:
The race will have one unscored formation lap, followed by a double-file rolling start.

Note: the grid will be in the pit straight at 45 degrees, drivers are to leave this location in single file behind the safety car. Make sure to turn your pit lane speed limiter on when the grid spawns, then turn it off once you exit the pit lane.

During griding, the pole sitter will be asked what side of of the grid they would like to start from. All other drivers should file in accordingly.

On the exit of Turn 11 (just before split 2, the safety car will reduce speed. All drivers should get into double file formation after Turn 12. The safety car will pull into the pitlane, then the leader and all other drivers should maintain a steady speed up until the green flag signal is given, at which point overtaking is permitted.

In the event of an aborted start, drivers should maintain pace until Turn 1, and then return to single-file formation for another attempt. The race director will then instruct drivers if there are any changes to this.

For the avoidance of doubt, the race timer of 1 hour 45 mintues will start at the conclusion of the formation lap - terminated by either the green flag, or an aborted start.

The race clock will run during all flag conditions with the except of red flag.

9. Safety Car:
On Restarts, the Safety Car will pull away from the field after Turn 10 (where possible). It must not be overtaken before it crosses the 1st Safety Car line.

Overtaking is not permitted on SC restarts until YOU have crossed the start-finish line.

The race director has the discretion to operate a safety car wave around procedure as documented in the regulations.

10. End of Race
After finishing the race, please slow WELL BELOW racing speeds after Turn 1 and proceed back to the pit lane. The top 3 shall report to the start/finish line.

Top three and anyone else wishing to be interviewed on the broadcast should join the Commentary Box Waiting Room, and one of the commentators will move you to the Commentary Box.

11. Miscellany:
Do NOT under any circumstances Shift+P or Shift+S from on course during the race without authorization from Race Control.

You do NOT need permission to retire once you are in the pit lane.

If you suffer a lost connection or timeout from the server, you are permitted to rejoin the race, and we will add your completed laps to your car once you've rejoined.
Stop & Go penalties may ONLY be taken from the penalty box located at the location noted above.

Please post any procedural questions in this thread.

Good luck!

Hello racers,

Pre-Qualifying
The top 10 drivers in the Drivers Championship are locked in to Round 4 of the season. All other drivers must take at least one timed lap in Pre-Qualifying in order to be able to partake in Round 4.

Pre-Qualifying starts at 13:00 UTC on 15 March 2024, and runs for 48 hours.

The following drivers are locked in to the round:

Vytautas Laguckas (Excellent15)
Isaac Price (IsaacPrice)
Gábor Gyüre (Viperakecske)
Pauli Peltokangas (Botswanan Salama)
Darius Veržinskas (Pathseeker)
Joni Katila (jsrk)
Dennis Lind (dennis93)
Jordan Lavrikov (imudilaskyline)
Dániel Balla (MandulAA)
Niko Puntola (nikopdr)

It will take place in the NDR.Pre Qualifying server. 28 cars will make it into the round on Sunday, we ask the first three drivers outside the top 28 to be ready to jump in last minute, if necessary.

Drivers may take as many laps as they want. Drafting is permitted, bump-drafting is not. Drivers should not impede other drivers at any time.

Confirmations
All drivers are assumed to be planning to attend a round by way of their entry to the series. For Round 4, we ask that Top 10 drivers post a yes/no if they plan to race, otherwise please only confirm in this thread if you are NOT able to race. You have until 06:00 on Tuesday, 19 March 2024 to tell us a no. Please use the following format, replacing the car number and username with your own:

no/99/dekojester

If you do not state a "no" here, and do not attend pre-qualifying, you will be removed from the series entry list.

Car Declarations

You are allowed to test all cars and use all cars during Pre-Qualifying - we will use your declared car laptime to make the Pre-Qualifying result.

IF you raced or pre-qualified with a declared car for Rounds 1, 2, or 3, you are locked to that car choice, and do not need to choose again.

You must declare your car choice by 13:05 UTC on 17 March 2024.
