Round 6

Monday,13th February
18:30 UTC / 19:30 CET / 20:30 EET

After the little tour around the globe AWS returns to home of LFS - England. 2 of last 3 rounds are held in Westhill, both in custom configurations. And custom configurations is a key word in Westhill Street Cup - a round that has been held since 2017 in various support road courses around Westhill, this year - Tunnels configuration. The front stretch is surrounded by tricky chicanes, while turn 3 will turn many minds crazy as the downhill left curve vanishes in 1st tunnel and will await many drivers scraping their cars against wall. The track features quite few signature turns - the roundabout,semi-fast righthander after back straight, the dipping lefthander that leads back towards main straight, which cut with 2 chicanes... Even if RB4 is known being heavy on it's tyres, track's average speed is quite low, which will help most drivers, but still the trait of this car has to be respected if driver wants to perform well.

With 3 rounds to go it feels like just few turns left before finish straight - the championship table has 2 distinctive leaders,so this round probably will increase or decrease a lot the intrigue for title battle. Same situation is in teams championship - if one of leading trio performs significantly better than others, the situation will be either decided or heated up,while nations leader can even wrap up the title with 2 rounds to go.

Round info:
Track: Westhill RGE Tunnels (WE1Y)
Laps: 22 (81km)
Car: RB4
Previous winners : LLM.V Laguckas (2022, 2019 & 2017), S1DUS*R.Kardol (2021), RGˆDzidoris (2020), B2マ FasT (2018)

Quote from three_jump :Session: Race
Lap/MPR time: 18:50 onwards (lap 13)
Involved drivers: #1: [MRc] PredroBR, #2: Three Jump
Description of incident: #1 turns into the right rear corner of the car of #2 causing #2 to spin off and take damage.

PedroBR does not avoid contact and causes an incident.

Quote from ZFRL•LG-mies via RG discord :RandomCar 2023 round 1: Lap 20, start/finish straight just as the lap starts
bananas was behind me with significantly more speed so I drove the rightmost side of track to prevent him getting inside line on t1, but he decided to cut through grass to overtake me and have the inside line to t1

Bananas makes a pass outside track limits.

PENALTIES:

[MRc] PedroBR - receives a 30 seconds penalty added to his finish time for avoidable incident with multiple position loss and damage on lap 13.
bananas - receives a 10 seconds penalty added to his finish time for pass outside track limits.
bananas - the unserved DRIVE-THROUGH penalty is converted in 30 seconds penalty added to his finish time as per standard LFS rules. Both these penalties result in loss of last completed lap.

- - - - - - - - - -

The inaugural officially scored RandomCar race gathered up 33 drivers in the qualifying, featuring 15 different cars, however 5 did not take the earned position on grid, which caused loss of another different car.

A total of 4 drivers were drawn the Ultimate Road Car,but 3 of them did not even attend,at least the 4th driver made up for it and raced his heavily restricted supercar to victory, leading a total of 5 laps. The rather inactive in our events bulgarian driver named RD2 used the cars handling abilities and situation on track to progress from 5th position on grid to 1st in finish. 2nd place was taken by Fast, who received a car based on late 70ies compact car, gaining 2 positions between start and finish. Half of the race results top6 was taken by drivers with Imprezzive, best of them was V.Lagooga, who took the lowest step on podium.

Round 2 will take place in 4 weeks and the track for it has been submitted already - the longest standard South City configuration with self explaining name City Long. This race will be 17 laps long. Also the car for voting has been submitted, the voting for new addition will start on the weekend on our discord channel. Also next week will be busy at Race Green Events - on monday the AWS 2023 season will start looking to it's conclusion with the 6th of 8 rounds, which will be run with RB4 at Westhill Tunnels configuration. But tuesday will be the big celebration of 300th RTFR,combo is still to be decided in public voting - check out the RTFR forum section and cast your vote until sunday!

* PENALTIES :
[MRc] TimDC - recieves a 20 seconds penalty added to his finish time for pit exit line violation on 2 occasions.

- - - - - - - - - -

2 weeks after the fastest AWS race it was time for the "hottest" - it was known right from the start that the 380 horsepower RS1 Kenji will be heavier on the tyres than every other car raced in this league,so keeping balance between pace and consistancy was the main challenge of this. 2 drivers even sacrificed their performance on gravel parts of this track for tyre durability by selecting road super tyres instead the "logical" choice - hybrids. One of them won the race.

Unnoticed A.Valta opted for different tyres - even if he had slightly better run to 1st turn from front row outside position,he could not complete the pass and due compromised grip on gravel parts lost quite few positions in 1st lap. Then he started his comeback regaining position after position to even take over race lead just before half distance of the race to lead remaining 17 laps. With this the championship leader scored his 3rd win of the season - as much as he did in his championship season in 2016. The podium was completed by 2 other finns, both from team Zafiralis - surprisingly the better one was not the 2nd place of series, but his teammate Motimoukari, who started from low 8th position,Thehemuli finished 3rd,just like he started. Dzidoris scored his 8th pole position in AWS,but could not keep up pace after leading 1st 16 laps, but fastest lap of the race was snatched by recently dethroned MRc RX champion TimDC.

If series leader wins, then it's clear that his lead grows - after the unsuccessful oval race,A.Valta regrew his standings lead to 11 points over Thehemuli, even if theoretically a total of 11 drivers are still eligible for drivers champion title,it's highly doubtful anyone besides Thehemuli can endanger A.Valta's chances for 2nd title. There is however a tight race for last overall podium position - Lorenzo,Michal and Rony are seperated by just a single point with 3 rounds to go.

Not a single rookie driver took part in this round, therefor there is no change in race for this award - except driver with backwards spelled name lost his last attendance bonus point and is now 11 points behind Happyd.

With the 2 podium finishes Zafiralis scored most points between all teams in this round and by that they cut their gap to table lead by 8 points - they're now 17 points behind RGA. MRc lost their 2nd position in table and retook 3rd position with 26 points gap to lead. Finland did not score any bonus points in this round, but with 1-2 finish that does not really matter - even if a total of 4 nations are still eligible for the title, there are barely any doubts about Finland taking it for the 2nd year in row. Czechia is still 2nd,currently 64 points behind leaders, the 5-time champions Lithuania is 3rd,37 points behind 2nd place.

This is the 2nd short break between rounds - already next week round 6 of the season will take place. Even if the Westhill Street Cup was introduced just in 2017,it has become a traditional part of the series - an RB4 race on Westhill's support roads, each year in different course. This year it's the well known Tunnels configuration, original of it was known already from the first test patches of the rebuilt Westhill environment.

Round 5

Monday,6th February
18:30 UTC / 19:30 CET / 20:30 EET

The AWS journey around the world continues - after the stop in Japan, next destination is the other non-english raceway of LFS. Fern Bay of Jamaica has it's own unique track type and is the other one of 2 raceways offering standard rallycross tracks, which will be used in this year's Jamaican Trophy. If the course is well known, the car isn't - the RS1 Kenji is a hatchback based on a street legal version of a WRC car,a brand new addition to All-wheel-drive Winter Series. 380 horsepower will torture the hybrid tyres to glowing,so drivers will have to find best compromise between pace and durability for a good result.

Exactly a half of the season is complete, that means whatever was possible during 1st half is also possible during 2nd. With 6 points gap between championship leaders nothing has been decided yet, however now it's time to raise the performance and push the decisions in own direction. This round will also be 2nd of 3 Cross Challenge rounds, leading these standings after oncoming round will hugely increase the chance to receive this award.

Round info:
Track: Fern Bay Rallycross
Laps: 33 (67km)
Car: RS1K
Previous winners : LLM.V. Laguckas (2022 & 2019 / RB4 / Road course), S1DUS*R.Kardol (2021 / RB4), DzidorisIII (2018 / RB4), [WCL] A.Valta (2016 / FXR), CoRe A.Laipnieks (2015 / RB4), RGˆMatiss (2014 / RB4), CoRe T.Lähteenmäki (2013 / RB4), spdoreno (2012 / RB4)

Race statistics / RTFR .mpr folder / Event rating and other statistics (will be updated later this week)

This week we did something like a little blasphemy - we run one of the Rockingham's main circuits in reversed direction, which felt like almost a brand new racetrack. Still the unknown brought a new attendance record to FZ5 - 34 drivers set a laptime in qualifying, that's 2 more than in previous RTFR using this car and almost twice as much as all time FZ5 average.

Week ago A.Valta celebrated his 1st win in the longer RTFR version, this week he won for the 5th time in normal RTFR,but his previous win was in 118th RTFR,7 years ago. A.Valta took over race lead exiting turn 2 and never saw a direct oponent anywhere else than in mirrors, leading all 17 laps on his way to victory lane, scoring also his 14th top5 finish. Gábor started from 2nd row and slipped into 2nd position during the race to try to catch leader, but did no succeed and finished 2nd to score his 39th top5 finish. The driver with the bad habbit of using different name each time he joins finished 3rd which is his 12th top5 finish, but was able to set fastest lap in both sessions - that was his 12th pole position and 5th fastest lap of the race. 4th and 5th place finishers switched positions between start and finish - Onur passed for 4th position to finish in top5 for 3rd time in row,7th overall, leaving first time participant M.Nieminen in 5th position.

VOD at Youtube:

Next RTFR is scheduled in 2 weeks, which will be the celebratory 300th RTFR,combo is still unknown as the voting for car and track is alive until noon of sunday before it. Until then the server will be used for 2 other occasions - currently server is set with combo of 74th RTFR XL for laptime testing - Formula Americas 2019 at Kyoto National Reversed, please join the server at possibility to test for best possible laptime! On sunday the server will receive combo for the 1st round of the brand new RandomCar series - our new racing concept where everyone will get a car drawn for the race out of the pool of 17 balanced TBO class cars.

IMPORTANT INFO: When exiting garage, you have to turn RIGHT despite LFS's notification of turning left. This is due limitation of Rockingham, which originally does not support pitlane in different than right to left direction.

Additional info: The combo of 300th RTFR will be decided in public voting. Please cast your vote: CAR POLL / TRACK POLL

Not sure if that's intended or not,but I'll leave this info here - with electric car if wheels don't touch the ground, energy is not used with full throttle. Car's odometer still counts the wheel distance, but energy stays unchanged.

Race statistics / RTFR XL .mpr folder / Event rating and other statistics (will be updated during the week)

* PENALTIES :
[マ] Yasin - receives 9.23 seconds penalty added to his finish time for minimum pit time violation.
B2マ TωϊnCΔm - receives 30.29 seconds penalty added to his finish time for minimum pit time violation.
「DD」 tBug - receives a DISQUALIFICATION from results for unsportsmanlike conduct (intentionally cutting track to gain big advantage and cheat qualifying result). Since his server behaviour in chat has received multiple complaints and his past behaviour shows up multiple incidents (last noted was on 71st RTFR XL),Race Green Events has no other choice as to give out "cool down" ban for 1 month from all hosted events, starting from date of 73rd RTFR XL. If the behaviour does not improve after serving this ban,a longer race ban will be given.

- - - - - - - - - -

A very interesting coincident happened during the last 2 Race Green Events hosted races - in both AWS 2023 round 4 on monday and the 73rd RTFR XL on tuesday the race was won by a first time participant in the respective event series and both winners did so by leading just a single lap - the last one! If on monday that happened from race situation and the way how bumpdrafting in high speed oval works, then tuesday's situation was caused solely by actual leader's double mistake - first he did a too short pitstop, then the repeated pitstop was too long allowing the rival pass by - the 2nd pitstop was 3.5 seconds longer than required minimum and the race was lost by 2.2 seconds. Also this race saw the biggest attendance since 67th RTFR XL,which also gathered up 30 drivers in it's qualifying session.

The AWS 2023 standings leader A.Valta was not much seen on the broadcast as he was slowly losing sight to leader during the race while running 2nd,but the with the drama for race leader he just simply took over race lead on last lap and finished 1st to win his debut race in RTFR XL. Since he has chosen to hide his stats in LFSW,the win will be not awarded to any country (goes to "other"). After the finger biting mistake in pitlane, the leader of race's 50 laps R.Kardol rescued 2nd place, scoring his 8th pole position,10th fastest lap of the race and 35th top5 finish, but missed the chance to tie Botsi for all time most wins. Onur started 3rd and finished 3rd - that is his 2nd entry in top5,which is 2 positions better than his 1st entry. Fatal lost a lot of positions in 1st lap,did his mandatory pitstop right after it,rest of the race was just regaining positions to finish 4th - that's the 12th top5 finish for the 2022 RTFR XL standings winner. Texas closed the top5 by scoring his 5th top5 finish, that's his 1st one since 36th RTFR XL

* FUN FACT OF THE MONTH :
FXO was the 1st car that featured 30 or more drivers in a round - in the 2nd RTFR XL there were 32 drivers in qualifying,30 on the grid. These values were not beaten until the february of 2021,where the chance being shown on livestream atracted 1st maximum grid. Same was with races featuring the FXO itself - the next 2 races after the 1st record featured 15 drivers average until this tuesday where FXO returned to 30 atendees.

* CLOCK PITTER OF THE RACE :
M@CI3K completed his mandatory pitstop right after 1st lap,sat there for 10.15 seconds and left the pitlane - that was the shortest legal work free pitstop of the day.

* FIELD RUSHER OF THE RACE :
Dzidoris used a chance to join the race without qualifying, which is allowed by previous winners by default - he started from 26th position on grid, raced through field to finish 8th,gaining a total of 18 positions between start and finish.

VOD at Youtube:

Next week it's time for normal RTFR version, which will return us for another race in Rockingham, but the track will be a bit different. Full info will be posted here on the weekend as always. RTFR XL will return in 4 weeks time, combo is yet to be submitted by the winner of this race - he has time to reply the PM until next tuesday.

Lap/MPR time: 58/38:51
Involved drivers: ZFRL LG-Mies (jokuhemmomummo6) and [WCL]J.A.Katila (jkat)
Description of incident: LG-mies steers left side rear part of my car causing me to spin and losing many positions

LG-mies can't hold line between bottom of track and car above, his car washes up and hits the car above - causing and incident that could have been avoidable.

- - - - - - - - - -

The fastest round of the season this year was round 4 - the Winter 200 has always been a different round and has produced different results. 18 cars on the grid is repeated 2nd highest number for this round (last year's edition tops the chart with 20 attendees) and once again the round produced thrilling race with unexpected turns of events. The result is the 12th different race winner in 12th time of running.

The US-american Happyd made his AWS league debuth this monday and celebrated it with a win straight away. Despite being in chaser position for majority of the race, with 7 laps to go all 4 leading cars were together for a short while, but soon Happyd with his collegue run away and in the final lap sprint passed him to lead the only lap that really counts - the last one. Championship standings 2nd placed driver Thehemuli could not set anything against his rival and finished 2nd for the 2nd round in row and for 3rd round in total this season. The 2019 Winter 200 winner Sobis was in charge of the race by being one of 2 leaders, but eventually a big mistake destroyed his and his collegues car's,so they could only limp to finish - 3rd place finish for Sobis.

The series leader A.Valta wasn't too relevant in fight for win this round as he finished 8th in the race, but still keeps standings lead after half of the season, but his lead has been decreased to 6 points. Thehemuli is still 2nd - this round brought him closer to leader and further from his main rival for 2nd place - Lorenzo is still 3rd,but now already 10 points away from 2nd place. This round was also part of the fight for the Oval Trophy - Happyd leads this competition by 2 points over Thehemuli and 5 points over Sobis. The 2nd and deciding round for this award is the round 7 in Rockingham Oval using a slower car.

Joining the series and winning straight away put Happyd in lead of Rookie of the year award chase - he is 10 points ahead of the driver with backwards spelled name, previous leader Richard has fallen down to 4th position due not attending.

In Teams championship the league hosts still keeps the lead and the gap to closest rival shrunk by just a single point - the biggest difference is that the closest rivals are now Master Race car,who took over 2nd place in standings. Zafiralis fell down to 3rd place, losing 4 points to MRc. 4th round,4th time most points scored - Finland does not have much competition this season and their lead has grown to 46 points over Czechia. Italy is still 3rd and also losing grasp for 2nd place chances as they're 32 points behind Czechia.

The 2nd half of the season will bring racers to Fern Bay in Jamaica for some slippery racing - the classing rallycross track will bring another heavy challenge for the racers with the 380 horsepower RS1 Kenji. This is where the drivers will be forced to manage the tyres through probably the hottest race of the season. The series will return again after normal 2 weeks break.

Race Green Events events presents new racing concept - racers get their car for the upcoming race drawn by randomizer from a field of balanced cars from PL200 class accepted in the list of cars for RandomCar.
Racing will be held on tuesday evenings between RTFR and RTFR XL races.

The car class named PL200 (Performance Level of 200 BHP per ton) used in this league is based on LFS default TBO class performance - street legal cars with power to weight ratio of approximatelly 200 BHP per ton, running on Road Super tyres. To balance out faster cars, performance balancing will be used - cars lighter than 1100kg will receive primarly additional balast weight (if tyre performance allows) to reach 1100kg,then air restriction will be added if required. Cars heavier than 1100kg will receive primarly air restriction,if car is still overperforming at max restrictor, additional weight will be added. With time car overall performance during different tracks will be monitored,if a car is deemed to be over or underperforming, the balancing will be adjusted accordingly. Despite all the balancing, some cars will still have advantage on faster tracks, some - on slower tracks, that is considered to be part of the RandomCar spirit - racers have to make the best out of the car they received in draw.

To take part in RandomCar,signup will be required as it is needed to know who wants to take part,so we can draw a car for the participant. Signups will be made on yearly base - each year a new series will be run and with it new sign up required. Each year will also have it's own info thread with schedule, points system and yearly specific updates to series.

As a bonus for winning, the winner will be allowed to select the track for next race, however the selection will be limited to next 2 environments accoring to standard LFS list (refer to LFS track selection menu). Custom configurations/layouts will be allowed as long as they're deemed to suit the PL200 class. Both LFS ovals (KY1 and RO3),other very high speed courses and tracks partially or fully without pavement will not be accepted (too much advantage for specific cars). Additionally the winner will be allowed to suggest a mod car for the next car addition voting (held in Race Green discord server).

Event times:
18:00 UTC / 19:00 CET / 20:00 EET - 60 minutes qualifying
19:10 UTC / 20:10 CET / 21:10 EET - Race start
* During sunlight savings time in Europe the UTC time will be changed 1 hour earlier to keep the event in same time in area of main userbase Europe (accordingly 17:00 UTC for qualifying).

Server:
For this league we will use same server with same name as in RTFR - car restrictions monitoring app will be launched once the server is set up for upcoming round.

~5 minutes before the draw a public link to scheduled draw will be posted and everyone can see the draw live (page reload required).
Currently (until there is better option) we will use simple https://www.randomresult.com/num.php numbers draw - the online randomizer will draw same amount of numbers as signups count in range from 1 to 29 (car ID number from cars list). The order of these numbers will be same as signups order - the 1st drawn car will be assigned to 1st signup,2nd car to 2nd signup and so on (a signups list will be added to draw link).

Rules:
* though this is just a fun race, so rule book won't be as long as race distance itself, but everyone should follow basic car-racing rules (like rules of clean racing) and keep sportsmanship in mind, so everyone can have clean racing fun in this event!
  • Respect BLUE FLAG - you may not interfere passing maneuver of lapping car! In qualification - you may not disturb passing car in any way.
  • Be careful at YELLOW FLAG - slow down if necesary, be ready to avoid crashed cars. Crashed drivers must make sure that their return to racing won't cause other incidents.
  • No shortcutting in any way. 2 wheels must be on track every time. Track is defined by paved surface (tarmac/asphalt,concrete),curbs,green pavement (in Kyoto) and astroturf are legal extensions.
  • Don't cross the pit exit (blend) line with more than 2 wheels and make way for cars racing at full speed.
  • Be careful while racing, avoid any contacts with other cars. No crashing, ramming or any other unsportsmanlike behavior at any time.
  • Drivers with high and/or unstable ping will be asked to leave if not improving it.
  • No voting for restart/qualification/end race after qualification start (unless command is given to vote for start).
  • Chatting during race is not forbidden, but pressing binds and (especially - unnesecary) texting too often can result in penalty.
  • Not racing observers (including drivers who already have retired) may not use chat at all.
  • This is specifically an individual event - every driver has to drive himself,no driver swaps are allowed.
  • Manual clutch is allowed only when using axis clutch to avoid botton clutch misuse. Normally server is set up with an app to disallow button clutch.
  • Car configs with safety car or police lights are forbidden as they are not deemed suited for racing in our events. Using such during official session counts as using unsupported equipment.
* every participant can recommend any changes to these simplified rules to make them better in any way, please report any mistakes found

In case you have any protests (crashing, blocking etc.) against somebody, please post them in this thread or in our discord server as soon as possible (best - right after race)! All protests will be reviewed and reckless drivers will be banned for futher events to keep clean and fair racing!

In case you timed out, crashed, run out of fuel and you have completed full 50% of race distance, please spectate and don't join again - replay will be analized with LFSstats and you will be added to final results! If you did rejoin in such situation, but still want to be added to results, you will have to inform event admins in server or post request in this thread.

Good luck and have fun! Thumbs up

Hallo,racers!

The 3rd century of RTFR racing closing to it's end and we will keep the tradition alive - you are now in charge to decide the combo for it! For the past 3 weeks drivers who scored a win since 200th RTFR,drivers in current rating top10 and 10 most active drivers in event's whole history had the chance to reply message asking to suggest car and track for this voting. Around 40% actually replied and with some use of RTFR auccess statistics,it was possible to create a list of 5 cars and 4 tracks that made into this public voting.

The anniversary 300th RTFR will take place on 14th february and it is planned to be broadcasted live by SimBroadcasts.tv - we might not have the option to produce fireworks in the LFS's virtual sky,but you have the chance to produce fireworks on track by delivering exciting action on track!

Please vote for your favourite car from options in poll! Also vote for car: https://www.lfs.net/forum/thread/102243
Poll closes 12:00 UTC sunday before the event (12th february)!

A reminder - server will be password protected 1 hour before qualifying start to keep not knowing crowded server jumpers out of way, pass will be always the same: green

Pitting rules:
Race requires a minimum time spent in pitstall of 10 seconds. That can be done either with single pitstop or sum of multiple pitstops. Driver who has spent less time will receive penalty time added to his finish time, which will be calculated by tripling the missing time to complete neccesary minimum time and adding additional 5 seconds. Drivers failing to pit at all will receive 1 minute penalty added to finish time (10s*3 + additional 30s).

Some historic stats:
Last race won by: S1DUS*R.Kardol
Last FXO race won by: S1DUS*Botsi (34th RTFR XL - WE International)
Most FXO race wins: S1DUS*Botsi - 2 wins (Finland - 2 wins)
Last Rockingham race won by: RGˆM@CI3K (60th RTFR XL - MRT @ RO Oval)
