A1: Yes,what you do in the 30 seconds mandatory pitstop is totally up to you,if your car can run the distance without service, you can even do a work free pitstop.
A2: Numberplate (car registration plate) is free, but of course you should not write anything rude there.

Race Green 300km of Westhill 2022 - information and discussions
Eclipsed
S3 licensed

2 years ago event at the Westschleife layout turned out to be success, last year's attempt to extend distance unfortunatelly was not so successful,so we'll return to original 300 kilometers distance this year. But to spice up the competition,we will add few more cars to last years selection of 5 original cars - a total of 39 different cars are up for selection in this year's race, all balanced to be on similar performance level to ensure that driving skill will be the deciding factor for entry's race pace. Cars' transmission layouts cover practically all possibilities - there are plenty of front wheel driven cars and all wheel driven cars, while rear wheel driven cars feature all 3 possible engine locations. Cars' weight ranges from lightweight below 600kg to heavyweight over 2000kg. Also engine size and power has huge variability - from 660cc 3 cylinder to 6.5 liter V8,while having also a V10 engine in the field, power ranges from 125 to 404 horsepower.

Also the track has received some updates - a total of 3 new sections have been added, one of them quite long, while 3 sections have been updated. Track length has been now extended to 14.42 kilometers and the track features a total of 84 turns (this number however is a bit variable as it depends from definition of a turn). To reach the distance of 300 kilometers,it is required to circle the track 21 times, where a good laptime will be below 9 minutes - with average speed a bit below 100km/h,the race length is expected to be over 3 hours. As always it will be allowed to race alone or in a team with up to 3 drivers - the track alone is an endurance factor,so it is highly advised to enter the race in a 2 or 3 driver team unless driver is ready for a proper endurance to race alone. A mandatory 30 seconds pitstop has been added to ruling this year as part of cars balancing and encourigement to create teams (some cars can finish race distance on single tank of fuel).

Timetable:
Sunday,12th June
15:45 UTC / 17:45 CET - 60 minutes open track qualifying
17:00 UTC / 19:00 CET - race start for the 21 laps race
* the shown CET time is current (summer) time - if not residing in CET time zone, always refer to UTC for correct time zone convertion!

Qualifying:

Due the track length an outlap is very long and takes more than 1/7 of the qualifying time - all the drivers should be patient and leave large gaps (preferably even out of visibility range) to ensure a clean hotlap! Organization is encouraging to drive multiple hotlaps back to back as it will ensure more completed hotlaps.
Multiple driver entries are allowed to qualify only with 1 driver! The driver who qualified the entry must complete a minimum of full 10% of entry's total distance during the race (3 laps in case entry completes whole distance)!

Race:
Race will feature an extended starting grid - cars will be placed on grid in rows seperated by 20 meters distance between them to lower the probability of early incidents. Every entry is expected to be familiar with pitlane entry, exit and driver change procedure for error free pitstops.
Race requires a minimum time spent in pitstall of 30 seconds. That can be done either with single pitstop or sum of multiple pitstops. Entry which has spent less time will receive penalty time added to his finish time, which will be calculated by doubling the missing time to complete neccesary minimum time and adding additional 10 seconds. Drivers failing to pit at all will receive 150 seconds penalty added to finish time (30s*2 + additional 90s).

Track limits:
Due the low average width of the course it is important to point out about track limits - track is defined by paved surface (asphalt/tarmac/cobblestones) and 2 wheels have to be on it at all times! Drivers may not cut corners over grass and also may not run wide on grass when exiting turns with more than 2 wheels. If such event happens due a mistake, driver has to lift off throttle to make sure no advantage is gained. Fastest laps in both sessions will be checked for any violations while other drivers might be randomly checked during whole race. Best way to avoid any penalties is to stay fair!
There are serveral sections where leaving paved surface with all wheels is tolerated - these are marked with white and red chalk arrows. All around the track there are posts on both inside and outside of turns - even if these have no legal use and they are just visual help to determine track limits, drivers still should avoid knocking them down.

Cars and restrictions:
To level out performance of all 39 available cars,an restriction table has been created - the used restriction method is voluntary air restriction in percents. Each car has it's advantages and disadvantages, but overall deemed to have relatively equal performance after our limited testing.

Car setup limitations:

Slick tyres are not allowed!
Mods configs are not allowed to have rollcage, crashbars and lightbars - please select configs without these (illegal equipment)!

It is advised to test several cars before signing up to decide the best car for your or your team's performance! Cars have different handling characteristics, some might be slightly less competitive. Cars list and their full specifications data can be found in this spreadsheet (test laptime and fuel range refers to 2021 layout where the testing was done).
Some cars still have WIP status and some do not have skins support.
Drivers are responsible to use correct restriction in all sessions and also in pre-event practice!
DISCLAIMER: Race Green Events is not affiliated to any of these user created cars! This means that organization of this event cannot affect existance and quality of these cars. We will contact mod creators 2 weeks before event start to ask them to withhold any perfomance affecting updates - before that we will monitor any updates and check for their effect on cars performance to decide if any alteration of restriction is needed.

Other info:
Blue flag behaviour - due long lap very rarely such occasion might happen. Even if the usual Race Green Events' rule of "you may not block lapping car's passing manouvre" is used also here,it is advised to try not to stay ahead of lapping car and let by in safe location before lapping pass is needed. Lapping cars still have to be very patient, wait for safe opportunity to lap and not force a pass in narrow turns.

Basic racing rules - we'll use as always basic rules of clean racing and judge incidents with common sense. It is advised to avoid any contacts in any situation to ensure clean and fair racing.

Rejoins - in case of time out, rolled or undrivable car it is permitted to rejoin the race. To ensure better visibility of race positions, the rejoined entry will receive back the completed laps as soon as possible - race administration will check the replay during race. If the timeout or telepit has happened before reaching 1st split of a lap,one lap will be deducted to avoid possible misuse!

Postrace action - after the distance has been completed,3 highest finishing cars are asked to take a place on a podium for post race media, located between tribunes. It can be accessed when followed the track - after the roundabout section on the left side of the straight. After top3 have taken their positions and photos are made, all other competitors also may join the area besides podium for further photo sessions.

Chatting - is limited during the race session. Allowed are short communications like appologies, thanking for letting by or between drivers of same entry when deciding when to pit and make driver swap, allthough it is encouraged to use external voice chat application (Discord,Teamspeak, phone call or whatever suits best). Race Green Events can offer a private voice channel in it's discord server if needed.
Unneccesary conversations will receive warning first and if not stopped - entry will receive drive-through penalty.
Not competing observers may not use chat at all!

Skins - specific car skins are not required in this race, allthough it is highly suggested to have a skin that displays entry number on car's side. Feel free to use event's official full logo on your skins! Also skins must fullfill lfsworld skin upload requirements and drivers may not use skins they don't have rights to use - like private skins of others or other teamskins.

Name format - entry number (may not be colored black or dark blue) required in front of your registered name, number and name must be seperated by a space.

Event server - server is online,is set in practice mode and has an Airio for laptime tracking (due hexadecimal code, most mods laptimes cannot be shown on simple !top table). Airio can spectate connections with very high and unstable ping for safety reasons (stable connections even from Australia should not be affected). Server will be open for public use until race weekend. For private practice feel free to use the attached layout.
Server link (click2join): Race Green Events

Event will be held using the latest stable version of LFS (currently 0.7D),compatible older versions are tolerated.

All information here can be changed,if so,notification will be posted about changes.

Quote from Iron|Doni via Race Green discord :Something like a report, but just in videoformat without proper explanation

(FJ) Leandro911 approaches 1st chicane with group of cars slowed down due battles - his controls show that despite having slower cars ahead and no opening between them,(FJ) Leandro911 accelerates with full throttle until he hits car ahead.

Quote from S1DUS*uNite via Race Green discord :Again a videoformat report with some vague hint of protested situation

Jereloco tries for an impossible overtake attemt in last hairpin from far distance, hits a car ahead and rolls his own car from contact.

TATAEME - receives 10 seconds penalty added to his finish time for pit exit line violation.
TATAEME - the unserved drive-through penalty is converted to 30 seconds penalty added to his finish time as per standard LFS penalty system.
[MRc] Michal - receives 10 seconds penalty added to his finish time for pit exit line violation.
(FJ) Leandro911 - receives a WARNING for incident on lap 2,exiting 1st chicane, future incidents might lead to disqualification or even race ban.
Jereloco - receives a WARNING for incident on lap 1,approaching last hairpin, future incidents might lead to disqualification or even race ban.

For the 2022 Season 1 finale a difficult combo was selected to provide a proper nerve-crackling challenge - a rear wheel driven race spec car without few of features normally built in race spec car, which made it very tricky to race, while trackside sausage curbs punishing drivers for their mistakes way more than simple walls would do. Still there were 40 drivers who qualified for the race and on the grid just the last row was left empty,so there were plenty of racers taking the challenge.

Gábor was the one,who addapted to this car best in this tuesday and took all the achievements from this race - he scored his 12th RTFR racewin, tying his teammate R.Kardol and A.Wiśniewski for 4th most RTFR racewins. It was also his 8th pole position,7th fastest lap of the race and reached a quarter-century top5 count. The season leader V.Laguckas finished 2nd to confirm his lead in standings also after final scored round for standings,it was also his 11th top5 finish. R.Kardol scored 3rd place in both sessions, scoring his 58th top5 finish, his teammate Unite finished 4th despite an attack from behind in 1st lap, that's the 57th time he finished in top5 here. Thehemuli repeated his both best achievements - 6th in qualifying and 5th in race results, scoring his 2nd top5.

VOD at Youtube:

With this the scored season 1 of this year is complete - next 6 RTFR races are set to be non-standings races, just like in old times, while combos might be a tick more experimental, season 2 of 2022 will start on 16th august. But next week the whole year long RTFR XL season will continue with race 5 of 12 - full info has been already posted! Also tomorrow the info for upcoming 300 kilometer race is planned to be posted, which is set to be 1st event in LFS where theoretically a full 40 car grid could consist of 40 different cars, which of course is quite unlikely.

Pitting rules:
Race requires a minimum time spent in pitstall of 10 seconds. That can be done either with single pitstop or sum of multiple pitstops. Driver who has spent less time will receive penalty time added to his finish time, which will be calculated by tripling the missing time to complete neccesary minimum time and adding additional 5 seconds. Drivers failing to pit at all will receive 1 minute penalty added to finish time (10s*3 + additional 30s).

Seems like this time we raced a car that's still quite a construction site as it showed some unfinished features (some reports already made in mod's forum thread),one of those might have contributed to a big accident exiting 1st turn. This lead to another reminder of absolute no restart policy of these races - if something goes wrong, you have to deal with it! In worst case rejoin and make a chase run or use it as a practice. Every restart might lead to another incident, eventually leading to unfair situation to someone avoiding incident in abandoned racestart, being crashed out in accepted restart. Also the event proved that owning a real counterpart of the car that's replicated in our sim does not give one any advantage over others - none of the 2 attending MR2 owners did show any great results (rushing on streets does not contribute to racing skill obviously).

The used to be affordable mid-engined sports coupe race was won by Unite, who was the only driver to crack 2:51 laptime mark and that in both sessions. Despite having an opponent slipping by in 1st lap,he led the final 8 laps, finished almost 8 seconds ahead of fellow front row starter and leader of 1st 3 laps Nosle. Michal got lucky in the big mess exiting turn one and jumped in high position, eventually bringing him 3rd place finish.

Finale of the 2022 Season 1 points challenge is up next and it will be a difficult challenge - we'll use a car that's as rollhappy as the well known UFR,but features rear wheels drive and it will be raced on track famous for it's "sausages" - full details of this mandatory vegetarian race will be posted in the weekend, while in 2 weeks the RTFR XL will have it's 2nd ever rallycross race. Also this race was a little prologue to RGE's next big event - 300km of Westhill 2022,a race using TBO class street legal cars on support roads of Westhill, where the actual track will be 3 times longer timewise. If cutious, here's a little HINT!

Wrong - that was always the case. What's new with mods is that if you change car,it's selected with default colors no matter what was selected before. The color selection memory still works with standard cars though.

4 weeks ago we tested a good candidate to match LFS's STD (GTi) class, this week we'll step one class up and test a car that's close to be on par with LFS's TBO class - the so called "poor man's Ferrari",which is just a sixpack heavier than XRT and delivers about same power as the original TBO cars, but due having the engine mounted practically above driven wheels,it will have the advantage when exiting turns. Why exactly this car? Because I have one of these and of course - because I can! Razz As the testgound we'll have a long time unused track - almost 6km long layout in Westhill with almost 3 minutes laptime!

2 weeks after the heated tempers chaos race we cooled down with a slowest original LFS RWD car on a quite long track. That however brought drivers with similar skill closer together and of course brought plenty of battles through out the field, including some paint trading - again no reports were made,so whatever happened, seems to be judged as racing incidents. From organizational side there was again something that does not seem right and that has been repeated irregulary - someone changed the name before the race to start from back of the grid. This can be considered as unsportsmanlike conduct as everyone should take the grid position they earned in qualifying. If this trend will keep repeating,a new ruling regarding this will be added.

The winner of previous RTFR race using the same car returned to victory lane also yesterday, becoming the 3rd driver to score an XRG race winning streak - Upsas started from outside of front row, blasted by the polesitter and after some position swapping through first few turns the lithuanian secured leading position and kept it for rest of the race to score his 2nd RTFR racewin and 7th top5 finish. R.Kardol started directly behind racewinner and also was able to improve the qualifying position during the race - 2nd place finish after some battles is his 57th top5 finish. Unite was able to set the fastest lap in both sessions, scoring his 9th pole position and 21st fastest lap of the race, but single lap pace was not enough during 9 laps race to finish higher than 3rd - 56th top5 finish for him. The freshly baked 10 race rating leader Fatal finished 4th losing a position compared to qualifying, rounding up his top5 finishes count to 10. Top5 was closed by rather rare guest Mantas, who scored his 3rd top5 finish from 4 tries.

The standard RTFRs are making one week break, but action should not make a break - another edition of RTFR-CCCC will be held with some mod from the list, which and where is yet to be decided. In 2 weeks the 2022 season 1 of RTFR scored standings will finish with 10th round - what will be raced and where, you might get a clue from the broadcast, but full info will be posted as always in the weekend before the race. Also the combo for next RTFR XL has been submitted - it will be the 2nd ever rallycross race of RTFR XL! Just like the 1st RX race it will be held using LX car, this time the slower one caring the number 4 in it's name and also we'll switch to Blackwood this time, the combo will be a repeat of 161st RTFR won by Dzidoris (results few posts below info),the XL race will be 73 laps long however.

You can make one yourself - in garage under colours tab you can generate both skin texture (delete white to have black mask) and wireframe (again blend out white to have it transparent). Press generate and then ctrl+V in your favourite graphics software, provided skin kit won't offer anything more unless specially altered.

The one I made is 600m long (0.39mi in case you need in weird distance units) 4 lanes wide and has some minor dips and elevation. It's not a perfect oval as it has 4 corners, each slightly different, yet the best line is one smooth slide around each 2 turns, quite a challenge with powerful RWD cars. It's layed out in Westhill's grass area (despite being green, grass kinda provide similar grip levels as dirt),if curious, you can get it when downloading this attachment: https://www.lfs.net/attachment/247669

Another previously untested mod featured in this RTFR XL - the GTR class car called MRG V8 GTR made it's debuth in organized racing and proved to be very close to original LFS GTR class regarding laptimes, despite being less powerful but also lighter. The car delivered it's own handling characteristics and new challenges to experienced GTR racers. With official number of 38 participants this car will take the 1st position in most attended cars chart. Despite few questionable incidents,no actual reports/protests were received,so everyone seems to have accepted the mishaps being racing incidents.

The seasoned GTR driver mr. Alpha returned to RTFR XL after 4 unattended races and put himself into history books as the 1st winner using this car allthough the win did not came easily - he was in chaser position for most of the race and led just 1/3 of race laps, making the pass for lead in final lap - the finn scored his 3rd RTFR XL racewin. He also scored his 3rd fastest lap of the race and 11th top5 finish. V.Laguckas was fastest in qualifying and scored his 5th pole position, tying Litti for 3rd most pole positions, but could not convert this into 3rd racewin in row despite leading 2/3 of the laps, including the penultimate lap - 2nd place finish is the 8th top5 finish in account of the lithuanian. 2nd most successful driver of RTFR XL R.Kardol finished 4th,but got promoted to last podium step - extending the leading count of top5 finishes chart to 29. Fatal blasted directly out on track after completing pitstop and earned himself the position deciding penalty to be scored 4th in final results, that's 4th top5 finish for him,Rony closed the top5 and scored his quarter-century of top5 finishes.

* FUN FACT OF THE MONTH :
Aston North configuration seems to be an obvious favourite between all Aston configurations - from 13 RTFR XL races run in Aston,7 were selected to be run in this exact configurations, bigger half of them in reversed direction. South City's longest configuration is a close 2nd with 6 selections.

* CLOCK PITTER OF THE RACE :
Only 2 drivers did not had any pitwork during their only pitstop - Jaroslav Dohnalík was the better one of them with a 10.09 seconds pitstop, beating the pit clocking veteran by 1/10 of a second.

* FIELD RUSHER OF THE RACE :
Starting from behind gives one a good advantage over others when it comes to opportunity of gaining positions - Young started from the 37th position and gained a total of 21 positions between start and finish.

VOD at Youtube:

The combo of the 65th RTFR XL is currently unknown as this specific winner is never really fast answering the messages,so it will be announced later - when received in our discord channel, here at first opportunity. But next week we will use majority of the same track as this week, but with very influencing addition - more details as always in the upcoming weekend. Besides RTFR,RGE organizes also other races - currently we're in a phase of public testing for the upcoming edition of Westschleife event, which will be most likely another 300 kilometers long edition. Cars list (32 ready cars plus few candidates) and more info currently available only in our discord server (link in opening post of this thread) in according channel.

I just compared with original LFS GTR cars as also the RB4 is an original LFS car - felt like also the RB4 GTR should follow that path. Maybe then call it RB8 GTR? Or RB V8 GTR?

Quote from UnknownMaster21 :I do not care what it uses, as long as it is GTR compatible. Even better, 7-Speed gearbox.

That would actually give advantage against other 6-gear cars as more gears means opportunity to keep revs closer to powerband peak than 6-gear box.

Shift+o - rest like in attachment. If that does not solve, open the window and use freefall hardware acceleration.

Some historic stats:
Last race won by: YES V. Laguckas - 2 wins in row
