Press F when car is on track, you'll see forces view - if you take default LFS GTR car (XRR for example),you'll see at front, middle and rear of the car bars rising with increasing speed - these are forces from front wing, undertray and rear wing accordingly. Test around in different conditions, check forces in replay and you will have plenty of answers already.

I'll just hijack this thread to repport one minor thing about hosts menu - "Allow users to select tracks" does not send a command in console and therefor has no effect when setting up server.

Regarding "user-defined layout objects" - I'd say the current layouts system is fine,it just lacks few objects to make layouts better until a proper track editor gets in the actual working plans. We're been tricking around with speed bumps and various versions of concrete objects to create some proper curbing on turn insides, but nothing really works perfectly as both speedbumps and slab walls have the trait to cause damage to suspension (sometimes quite randomly) and concrete ramps as curbing are useful just on turns with rather high diameter and useless in for example in Westhill's roads where elevation is a factor.

I personally would like to see some extra objects in the same old layout editor before you start the journey of track editor creation/adaptation for mass usage. 1 meter short speed bumps and 2nd set of same speedbumps half as high would be a relativelly "simple" addition for starters, maybe the lower ones might be bendable. That alone would be a great addition to force drivers stay within designated turn and layout creators would not need to go full hardcore with walls. And maybe some trackside big objects like tribunes, trees and similar stuff could be useful as scenery, but that's least important stuff I guess.

Other suggestion regarding layouts - addition of dedicated spawn slots for objects,so we don't need an extra user to be a ball in a car football game. I hope I could throw an idea here.

And I'm risking to sound like a broken vinyl - with addition of the huge layout square environment, possibilities have grown,so an object limit rise would be very very welcome, might be even limited to layout square area which has almost no other objects around anyway. I would understand a limitation of moving objects like bales/tyres for sake of weaker PCs though.

All-wheel-drive Winter Series 2022
Round 3

Monday,17th January
18:30 UTC / 19:30 CET / 20:30 EET

Westhill Street Cup is a permanent round in AWS schedule since 2017 and has always featured RB4 racing around different areas of Westhill's support roads. This year is not different and as always will use a different racetrack - this year it's a 3.8 kilometers course layed out on western side of the environment, featuring a long and wide straight behind the original garages and braking zone to a very tricky hairpin, that has both elevation and surface changes. 2nd sector has a relativelly narrow section, where passing is considered rather impossible while rest is at least 2 lanes wide. The roundabout in 3rd sector is allowed to pass on both sides, but the left side is a bit shorter and the correct choice for better laptime.

First 2 rounds marked a possible duel for championship between defending champion and tied winningest driver of the league, but surely some other drivers still might have some arguments. With 5 rounds ahead in series, anyone can still apply for any of the titles, for newcomers the RB4 Master award is the best chance to put themselves in the history of the league - it's the 1st round for this award, which will be presented for the last time! (series future plans are to use more different cars, most likely each car just once per season)

Round info:
Track: Westhill West Street Course (WE1X)
Laps: 18 (69km)
Car: RB4
Previous winners : S1DUS*R.Kardol (2021), RGˆDzidoris (2020), LLM.V Laguckas (2019 & 2017), B2マ FasT (2018)

Race statistics
RTFR CCCC race wins:
1 - B2マ Upsas (JDM80 JZ)
1 - YES V. Laguckas (Bacalhau)
1 - S1DUS*Litti (P1666)
1 - LLM.Sobis (Transam)

This time we used a car which got updated between 1st test for the event and the event itself - the update caused the car being quite a handful,as seems like the modder has not much clue what he's doing. Anyway - the racers had plenty of clues how to adapt the setup and make the car drivable again and we had an intense race.

Upsas could set himself as fastest in qualifying by setting a new lap record and led every single of the 11 laps to put himself as 3rd lithuanian who wins a race in this highly experimental version of RTFR,adding the success to a single win he has scored in each of the standard RTFR series. Goszki has never finished a single RTFR race before, allthough he started one,but today went all the way to see chequered flag as the 2nd fastest of the race, leaving Fnatic 3rd - between his achievements is one top5 finish in normal RTFR.

8th february is the next opening for RTFR-CCCC,so stay tuned if we will try another untested car in competitional conditions, but until then there is plenty of action from Race Green Events side - next week monday RB4 will be raced around tricky Westhill support roads circuit in 3rd round of AWS 2022 season and on very next day one of the faster cars will be raced in 2nd normal RTFR event of this year. All the information as always in this forum section and as a reminder also in our Discord server!

Quote from Octosquad :well made car

No,it's not - there are lot of gaps to be filled,as light shines through all door, trunk and hood gaps, while there are other elements not finished, like window bezels, roof scoop, mirror bezel. Also the lack of Road super tires for car with such power seems not right, but I guess there is the idea of providing 70ies tyres behind it. Haven't driven this car yet though, just posting 1st visual impressions,I assume modder is aware of most issues already and it's just 1st WIP publication.

Exactly.
Even if there is some logic behind (players get spread in various servers and everyone wants that others join just his server),but banning the freedom of creating own server sounds like a communism.

Besides that list I would suggest some japanese "classics" - there are quite few Nissan S-chassis cars and few others, but still no NSX,MR2,Celica,proper street versions of RX-7 and 8 (both published have downforce),the older Impreza, maybe also some Lancer's,Eclipse and 3000GT... I'm pretty sure I forgot some great other models.
Also would like to see cars of the 80ies crazy turbo era - group C LeMans cars, while they had few amazing ones in 90ies (Toyota GT-one,the flying Mercedes and Bently),no objection to newer ones too.

(just keeping throwing ideas to modders)

Compared to previous event,we'll reduce number of cylinders, but raise the speed - the turbocharged 90ies japanese classic sports car is not the most agile car car due to it's weight, but will compensate that with some power - the power to weight ratio is a tick over the one of our well known TBO class cars.

You'll run out of objects most likely. I tried a different approach (without banking),which needs like 2800 or so objects to be properly made. Shrug So my project currently is on hold and will either wait for raised object limit or used half open and dangerous.

Quote from G.Metzo :I was hoping to join some sort of league to get some proper racing done.

There's a calendar of LFS racing leagues: https://www.lfs.net/leagues/calendar - most require at least S2 licence, some - already S3. Considering you'we already been in iRacing, paying for racing is nothing new for you,but here's a shocker for you - after purchasing licence, there will be no other costs! No subscriptions as LFS licence is one time payment and you're ready to go.
Some leagues might require minimum pace,in some more populated you just need to be in best 40 to qualify for the race, but generally - as long as you're a clean trouble free racer, there won't be problems to race in leagues. Saying this as I have no clue what does 2k irating mean. Some leagues simply use Rules of Clean Racing as guideline, some have more specific ruleset, just read info in the leagues section you can access from calendar link.

Race statistics / Event rating and other statistics (will be updated later this week)

RTFR has done already few firsts in it's history - the first organized races in freshly updated Westhill and freshly released Rockingham (coincidentally both with XFG),now it was first organized league race featuring full grid of mod cars and first widely broadcasted event with mod cars (Z.Cagaš's stream of AWS round 1 was first ever stream with mod cars race though). But it's just start of the new age of LFS,where more than just default 20 LFS cars will feature in various events. For the season opening a very simple car was selected and again LFS server limits could not uphold racers interest as the server was full - the 68 horsepower Shark C made it's debut in LFS organized racing with a bang.

The first race of the new year was won by someone, who has more pole positions in RTFR than finished races and he added another pole position to his list - the 6th. In the first lap V.Laguckas lost lead to his countryman, but after bunch of attempts he finally found a way past him and led the remaining 1/4 of the race, scoring his 3rd RTFR race win and 5th top5 finish. Upsas led 12 laps, but eventually had to concede to his countryman and finish 2nd,that's his 4th top5 finish, while 2nd place in qualifying was repeated personal best - he also clocked the 19th closest finish in RTFR history. R.Kardol finished 3rd with gap of 0.73s to winner, which is just 0.02s more than previous 25th closest finish between top2 - 52nd top5 finish for the champion of previous year. Pedro finished 4th,scoring his 4th top5 finish, but on the way he set also fastest lap of the race, which is the first such achievement not just for him,but also for Brazil. Top5 was closed by another lithuanian - Fast finished 5th and that's his 19th top5 finish.

VOD at Youtube:

In 2 weeks RTFR will return to one of the LFS standard cars as we won't host 2 following races with mods yet, that of course will be one of the slick tire using racing cars, more details as always in the weekend before it. Next week however is kept free for possible RTFR-CCCC - no plans yet,but we might throw together a relatively spontanious gathering and test one of the mods in racing action. But until that (and actually after it) RTFR server will have testing for next RTFR XL scheduled at 25th january - as always a combo without world record data will be set for public testing to find out best laptime for distance calculation. Server will be set up shortly after this post is published!

Here's some media from yesterday's race featuring this car - 40 cars were standing on grid.

(a little advertisement Tongue )

Full broadcast of SimBroadcasts.tv:

With low power and simple handling this car is well suited for mass pack racing,Aston/Kyoto might result in more side-by-side action. Being slower than slowest LFS standard car UF1,it's well suited as beginners racing car to learn basic handling of rear wheel drive car.

Model still have some downsides though (besides the disapearing front wheels bug - note about this car is at the bottom of post) - the biggest is visible with bright colors, where the empty engine bay shines through front openings, while another minor thing is noticable when closing up to door gaps - inconsistency which part is skinned and which not. Also the skin mapping is a bit difficult to understand - a proper kit might solve that.
