If you plan to get this going give me a shout and I'll add it as an event in the LFS AC group on steam, everybody should get a message on event start then, maybe we'll get some random joiners.
Use lfsworld, not sure why we don't have a button in the LFS internal serverlist too, but it works nicely via lfsw (you can also join servers directly)
edit: And you got the nice buddy list with lfsw too of course, tbh I never use the LFS internal serverlist anyway, its so much more convenient with lfsw.
Also had a go with default set just for giggles, and I think 43's is pretty good already for a motion sim with default set. Did a 42.8 on my comfy chair but I suck in single seaters so I guess people with talent will probably do 41's even with default set. Couldn't take the chicane flat mainly because of tyre temps and zero camber, but that could again be my lack of talent.
You can download some hotlap replays there and maybe get some pointers, but the default setups in LFS are quite old (if indeed they use default) and don't work very well if you want to go even remotely as fast.
Sounds like maybe some power saving feature kicks in? Did you already try to set windows to "best performance" (or whatever it is called) in the energy settings?
I don't think we would see much in videos, after all it's supposed to be a subtle change in tyre physics not a complete overhaul, I think we where already in the ballpark with the tyres we drive right now they just needed some work in certain areas. Of course it took a long time but the end result should look pretty similar but feel better I guess?
I wouldn't mind a video driving on new westhill with the added bonus of physics though.
The other young guy on the lower step of the podium beside him is Dominique Aegerter, riding quite successfully in Moto2 at the moment. He mentioned on Swiss TV that the bikes are quite different but it's not that big of a problem as long as he got one or two days in between switching from one to the other.
Good to see the young guns riding just as well as the "old"school riders in the endurance events.
Just wanted to echo the thoughts of most people here, it's so easy to keep a large part of the community happy, a bit of communication and people got something to speculate and talk about, loving it.
0.21.6
- New Race Control
- Server is now in control of fuel rate
- Server is now in control of tyre rate
- Server is now in control of damage level
- AI does not flatshift cars with no autocutoff anymore
- Added "transfer" grip from session to session
- AI cars now try to park on the side if they have a broken engine
Finally!
And yes some nice racing again yesterday, I just keep forgetting to save replays. The lotus' just need some work on the set to get them somewhat balanced, z4 is a really nice car to get close racing despite having no brakes! Monza was crazy with it.
According to nvidia the first time shader model 3.0 got introduced was for the 6000 series cards, they seem to have been released in 2004. They go on ebay for 10-20 euro.
edit: Also interesting to see there are no nvidia cards in use at steam with SM 2.0 (scroll to the bottom), it looks like AMD was slow updating to SM 3.0 with some of their cards, the rest looks to be internal chipsets mostly, which got horrible gaming performance and will probably not be used for gaming?
edit2: about 70% of those 0.85% overall users of SM 2.0 cards seem to be on internal chipsets, from what I can see all of them got pretty much zero gaming performance.
Sounds like some ini files are corrupted/changed for your tracks. It checks for the correct files if you join a server that has it enabled, I guess yours doesn't?
Yes, the plan is to run a freejoin server tonight, with the latest update you don't need anything anymore on client side, while I as server owner can switch cars and tracks when I run it.
I'll turn it on in about an hour, will create an event on the ac steamgroup too.
Same problem, I've tried to save some too but it was imola, I guess the replays don't get written properly if the server is in non booking mode, it used to work with booking on.
And yes, thanks for the races had a great time, netcode looked pretty good too.
edit: Looks like you need to leave the server for the replay to get created correctly, the very last before we left was saved properly. Just tested it, cr file only gets created with proper data once I leave the server.
LFS at AC server at 18.00 UTC for people not in the LFS steamgroup. The plan is to get some netcode testing in (fiat 500 abarth) and then do some other cars when we've done that.
Mistake on my end, was fiddling around with that sweetfx thing I've posted earlier and forgot to change the rgb gamma to the correct value, just imagine it was getting dark!
