He is right though dave, some parts run at 100HZ some run in the kHZ range. I am 100% confident I remember Scawen mentioning that.

edit: Only found Bob Smith mentioning Scawen right now but I'm sure I'll hunt down his post too at some point

I think Scawen (or maybe somebody else explained it) mentioned at some point that this is a problem from how the tyres act with surfaces and the physics meshes. There where some pictures in that thread too but I can't find it any more. As far as I know it isn't fixable without a physics rewrite which is in progress atm so maybe it'll be better/gone once those see the light of day.

edit: Found it, wasn't Scawen answering though, still some nice infos in there:

Try it with this one, it's the complete DX installer instead of the web one. At least this seemed to fix the same error for others.

Thats a common problem with the G25/27 pedals, what you can do to fix:

1) Try to clean them.
2) If you've got some WD40 around open them clean the potentiometers with it.
3) If you're lazy and it only comes on very slightly get DXTweak and add a deadzone for your brake pedal

(new dampers and setup, removed the slicks and some little other setup changes)

Just wanted to give you a virtual hug, finally found the time to try this... AND I LOVE IT! Just how I always imagined such a thing should handle, point and shoot a bit of understeer that is easily solved with throttle and countersteer! Big grin Did I mention that I love it already? Could easily turn into my favourite car once it is more complete. (And gets an H-Gate Big grin)

Quote from Scawen :An occasional frame rate loss has been reported by several people. For some reason apparently the CPU is randomly switching to power saving mode. I don't know of any way to avoid that, but I believe you can avoid it with your settings.

It's the (Nvidia) GPU, I had to set my GPU to "max power" mode for LFS in the nvidia control panel, otherwise it would go back to a very low clockspeed causing those huge FPS spikes.

Not sure if that is a problem on the nvidia side, could be a driver update or something that caused it and not the testpatch.

I ran into this problem, to recreate:

Add concrete slabs directly above the starting grid (Z Axis a few metres above ground), first start everything works as expected, after you restart the race you get spawned on the concrete slabs instead of the tarmac.

I'm sure sicotange is working hard at updating his clavico addon. https://www.lfs.net/forum/thread/77749-ClaViCo-Autocross-Plugin

Sounds like a good feature suggestion.

One thing that keeps happening to me in "Shift+U Mode": I want to change the size/height/x/y/z heading of an object but instead I select another object somewhere in the distance that happens to be just below where I want to click.

Example in attached picture, if I would want to make my object smaller ("Length" down arrow) I will select another object instead.

Is it possible to fix that? Or is my workflow just screwed and I should do this in a better way?

Not sure where the problem is exactly...

Sorry for the quote of myself, did a quick test. This is single player with just me on the track, you can see some huge GPU usage spikes and some FPS spikes.

edit: I'm on a GTX 770 (using supersampling)

Finally found the problem, my GPU went into powersaving mode (135MHZ clock speed) thats why I had all these FPS drops. Now manually put it in "max performance" mode....

Quote from Scawen :
Have you tried half texture resolution, to see if that helps?

There are really a lot of textures...

I've got 2 GB RAM it's using about 800 MB on Westhill, still got FPS dips even though my GPU usage never went above 80-85%(GTX 770 as mentioned earlier).

I for one will certainly come back to check out westhill and whatever else they got in store for us. He's right you know, nobody if forcing you to wait around here and be miserable about it.

Some oldschoolers will never come back but thats just how it works, some leave new ones arrive... That doesn't mean that the community is ruined, it'll just be different people and in 5 years they will be the oldschoolers complaining that everything was better and more active when they joined on the westhill release.

You must've picked a bad server then, I am no fan of the online part in AC mainly because it's lacking a lot of features and is sometimes prone to errors. If you find a properly configured server though you can have some really close racing.

Just to make sure it's not a problem with Internet access, can you start LFS in demo mode, go to Multiplayer and see a list of hosts?

Are you on the latest LFS version 0.6G?

If both answers are yes I am out of ideas, maybe you need to contact support at: https://www.lfs.net/mailus

Where do you have LFS installed? If it's in C:\Program Files it most probably is a problem with UAC denying LFS to write to files without Admin access.

Otherwise maybe a firewall is blocking internet access to LFS on your main PC?
