E7400 or Q8200?
Ok so, I'm planning to buy a new computer. I've two choices of processors which are Intel C2D E7400 and C2Q Q8200. The other hardwares are both same (2GB RAM, 320GB Space, GF9500GT and Win7). I'm pretty much a gamer, but sometimes open more than 2 programs at once. I'm on a tight budget so this is only I could afford.

Right now, I'm on E7400. I might change my mind though.
I say you go for the E8400, it's better than both of those CPUs you listed.
Q8200 is quad but slower that the E8400?

Most likely, yeah.

Im on E8200 - i could recommend this instead of E8400 tho, depends what ur gonna do with it. E8200 runs on 2.6Ghz default and can be clocked more than 3.6Ghz with stock air cooler. People have got it on 5.2Ghz tho with stock cooler. I clocked a bit, just for little improvement, im on 2.8Ghz. The difference between E8200 and E8400 is the standard clock, so if u buy E8400 then u pay for the 1Ghz what u can do for free by overclocking

E8400 is better binned and so overclocks higher.

Q8200 is slower than an E8400 in single threaded apps, but the Q8200 is faster in multi-threaded ones / multitasking.

All depends whats more important to you.

A gamer would never consider 2gb of ram and a 9500GT lol
I used to think as the guys who had replied, 2 cores at higher clocks is better. But you know, after having a quad core my opinion has changed

If you're solely gaming, a quick dual core will be faster than a slower quad for the time being. Maybe in the future when most games are multithreaded will 4/6/8/16 core CPUs be better.

Well, it's better than my old MX420 and a 64MB RAM (can't even pass 15fps on LFS). And yeah, I'm also looking for an E8400, but I can't find it anywhere near my place.
I don't know about overclocking, but can Q8200 overclocked to somewhere around 2.6?
I still have some money left to get 3~4GB RAM if I buy E7400.
