Hi Bose321.
Firstly, thanks a lot for the program. I recently bought a Fanatec GT3 wheel, and love it.
The only issue is that I get these big FFB jolts when it's running in AC or LFS.
Is there any way to stop it from affecting FFB?

Cheers.

Outdated how? By that, you're inferring that this forum once was a prison, and that people could not leave when they wanted.

seniecka, its a computer game that you're ranting and raving about.
Find some perspective!

My umpteenth clean install of LFS, and one of the first things is always to download this set-up pack.

Quote from seniecka :If we compare AC graphics to LFS, then LFS is like Sega Mega Drive 2 game. Ancient graphics. Well, it's really big shame that those three lazy dudes can't put themselves together and release something that was planned to be released 5 years ago. It's just ridiculous. 5 years! Omg, there is no point of waiting, even if we gonna await it, some part of community won't play because of principles. Also, 5 years is really big time gap. If devs think that we have tons of time to wait and after s3 release all racers gonna come back, then I am afraid it's untrue. LFS devs are the biggest lairs. It's really shocking that they act so unprofessionally and irresponsibly.

This isn't a prison. You can leave any time you like (preferably right now).

Quote from dawesdust_12 :Thing is, I don't think that AC will win so many hearts simply because of high PC requirements. LFS can virtually run on a toaster, so a lot of people in less wealthy areas will be likely to stick with LFS.

Fair point, although that factor will diminish over time I guess.
Also, agree with TVE's point about AC being in early development. There's nothing like new content and features being released every few weeks to keep people interested.

Really hope that Scawen gets a major release in before AC multilayer though. It would be really interesting to see how it turns out.

My thoughts are that LFS has been kept alive over the last 6 years, mainly by a lack of competition. Other sims have come and gone, but none have been able to match LFS in 3 key areas; physics, multiplayer and value. Sure, numbers have dwindled significantly, but many people are still keeping a close eye out for updates as, although they may be bored with the content, there is still nothing out there that's better.

For the first time, it has a true competitor. The very promising Assetto Corsa has (I think) covered physics and value very well, but it has no multiplayer. The AC multiplayer release might seal the fate of LFS. If it is released before the next major update to LFS and is good, then it might be the end. If Scawen can get the update out first, or AC multiplayer sucks, then who knows.

My thoughts only, of course. ☺

Quote from ATHome :What I don't like about the AI is the feeling they're not on the same physics engine like you.

They only need to tap you the slightest at your rear quarter panel and you lose it.

If you on the other hand tap them on the rear quarter panel nothing happens, it's more likely that you end up spinning. Even if you dive bomb them on their rear end they correct it like it's just a little bump. You end up nowhere in the middle of the gravel.

Gives me that kind of train like "the AI is driving on rails"-feeling you know from games like the Gran Turismo series.

It's an interesting point. Hopefully it's just related to the way it handles collisions rather than the AI having different physics. The latter is just cheating!

Quote from dawesdust_12 :Tristan, I've simraced for >10 years and never done anything to setups, nor understand anything other than making them terrible

I'm kinda the same. Not much interest in setups therefore limited in knowledge. I'm happy just to enjoy driving (preferably in a car that doesn't need a lot of setting up). Either way I understand that I'll probably be slower than someone who puts in the hard work. Again, just like real life.

Quote from tristancliffe :Yeah, if it's a road car, then there should be a "showroom settings" option (or perhaps enforced for hotlapping completely), but the race cars that are MEANT to be adjustable should be. If you're too stupid to read a few books or guides about setups then consider sticking to the road cars. Then the simulation of racing is even better - you have to learn stuff and not be thick to do it.

Completely agree with this. Sims should always align with reality, and this is reality plain and simple.

Quote from sinbad : I can accept the invisible hands (I have own hands) more than I can accept a gear stick being moved whilst the car is already in gear.

Agree. It's wierd seeing 2 pairs of arms and 2 wheels in your peripheral vision.
I wish you could remove the wheel altogether. Hopefully the cockpit view will be completely customisable eventually ala LFS.

Quote from Keling :They are trying to attract arcade minded rookies at the same time, for whom AI weights more than MP.

They could have made another NKP, but they have more mouths to feed now.

More people race against AI than you might think.
I get maybe a couple of hours a week at best, and that will usually be in short sessions of 30 minutes or so. There's no way I can be competitive online.
AI or just simply doing a few laps is where I get my enjoyment.
Nothing to do with being an arcade racer

Quote from R3DMAN :I dont get this lust over multiplayer.. Sure i love racing people but its not like there isnt stuff to do now, go do all the achievements and then complain about MP.

I'd be more than happy with some half decent AI to race against.
Can't get enough playing time to be competitive at MP.

Quote from atledreier :You'd think that people trying to make a driving game/engine would care about getting something as fundamental as tires at least resembling real life. But they have clearly stated that they are not.

You could flip this around and say the same thing about LFS or AC.
"You'd think that people trying to make a racing game would care about getting something as fundamental as damage at least resembling real life."

You'd be wrong of course, because in the end they're just different games with different priorities. They're all still in development too.

I think the tyre model in Beam shows some promise anyway. It needs work for sure, but it's far from completely 'un-resembling' real life. And the game is young.
