Has anyone thought about using the force feedback data from wheel software to drive a motion platform? It seems like that would be a really easy way to get data.

You could pair it with an arduino and a few high power servos with gearboxes for a cheap motion sim solution.

Why would you do that (take wheel FF data) with sim like LFS, where you can read directly the powers applied to the body of car (at least I think the insim script can read the G forces and position of the car body, or even driver position)?

Anyway, LFS is successfully used with motion platforms already, like:

That said, their "301" is "low cost" *simulation* platform, still priced beyond something what ordinary human can buy for home usage. There are ~100x cheaper pads which will basically buzz a bit under your ass. Still getting the data from LFS is not the problem. The platform itself is.

The 'forces' view (press f) gives a visual representation of the data that you're wanting to scrape from the outsim.

Then you'll need to build a half dozen of these:



Glue it all together with a few hundred lines of code, and Robert is the sibling of your mother or father.

Ah yes... Perfect example of the snooker table what I was talking about before, relating to the road surface of LFS.

And this video is from six years ago. See how much more intense Iracing is. LFS is far too easy, thats why racers are gone.
