How about LFS for Android?
Hello,

Could it be developed an Android Version of LFS?
The LFS is a quite lightweight simulator, so i think it can be ported to Android. So, we can use it with Smartphone VR(like GearVR), play it without PC, and multiplay it anywhere! Don't you think it's an interesting idea, uhu?

(Forgive my poor English)
Hi, doubt this will happen anytime in near future
...aaaand you want to steer with what? Touchscreen?
I know that most Android phones are compatible with gamepads, but still - it's a racing simulator and as long there aren't a bunch of Android-compatible wheelsets,I don't see a reason.

Android mouse and keyboard?

I guess there are already some hacks to connect some USB wheels... but even some VR controller should be enough, they are reasonably accurate.

That said I don't think this will happen anytime soon, unless Scawen would be willing to spin-off that sub-project to somebody else. Smile
You can try to installiert a Windows Emulator on your Android Device.
But i dont know how good the games will work.

Where excactly do you want to play VR games?
Remember it is not like playing normal games on smartphone, you have the display mounted on head and can not see anything. So it is not practical to use in almost every situation where people typically play games on phone.
Liquidsky is another solition.

And you can use 900Steering Wheel app to use the Gyro of your Phone as Input.
Its simply possible to make a simple own Layout for Racing.

I test Assetto for about one year with this setup. Runs great. Very Less latency
(10-35 ms)
Thought I would bump this old topic with some new information instead of creating a new topic.

Seems there is the possibility of Android running LFS in the not so distant future due to WINE.

With version 3.0, there is now an android port of wine for x86 and arm devices. For x86 android devices, LFS will just run and play (then someone needs to make a good system for driving itself). For ARM its a bit different though; only Windows RT (that dumb ARM version of windows 8) apps will run (or other ARM based apps for windows).

It's said they are implementing QEMU to emulate x86, but that would probably end up being terribly slow... So I see two options:

1: Port LFS to Windows RT (probably will never happen)
2: Wait for the QEMU implementation and see if its usable at all.

Just tried the arm version on my phone and it booted and gave a nice windows desktop. Haven't done any more testing.
I'm gonna strap a V8 to an abacus, that'll probably run it too Wink
Guys... Dont you forget the accelerometer? Its almost like a wheel!
Phones are becoming more and more powerful. It's not as far fetched as it sounds.
Yes liets drive LFS on a pfhoon.. Realism baby

Lol, what a time spent to switch between accounts to reply this post 2 times
I think you guys are missing the big picture idea I'm presenting...

Crossover phone/"desktop" setups are probably gonna become the norm at some point, and seeing as x86 won't make it into phones anytime soon, it will have to be functional on an arm device.

yes, using tilt controls would be fun and all, but the main idea behind Wine for android is just being able to run windows applications.
x86 in phones already exists sometimes, but don't expect windows OS to happen...

About "being able to run windows applications" - well, that's already in linux and stuff, and it's good for some retro computing, but you normally don't need to run windows applications, that's historic stuff, all modern SW is available on modern platforms.
