Hi there, so I am wanting to host a server in Australia or New Zealand and I have no idea how to do this.

I have looked through the wiki bit of hosting and I just don't understand a thing about it.

Can anyone give me step by step guide to do this?

Host from where? Home? Datacenter? Windows? Linux?

I think the wiki is pretty clear about it, but you need to have some basic internet/computer knowledge yes.

Yes it is... The difference is that you don't have to figure out how your home router works with port forwarding and all that.

But "some company", it doesn't sound like a solid plan yet

Is there some Linux VPS hoster in AU which actually is not that crazy expensive? Last time I looked two years ago it was way too expensive.

You can try Linode $10 US/month... Which is pretty good and has a server datacenter location in Singapore ( https://blog.linode.com/2015/04/27/hello-singapore/ ).
