Announcing the Genuine Racing GT1 Challenge 2013!

OVERVIEW

The FIA GT1 World Championship might be gone, but the Genuine Racing GT1 Challenge returns for its 2nd season of GTR sprint racing with 7 events visiting a number of very diverse tracks over the course of its season. To ensure all cars have an equal chance in the championship the FZR has been performance balanced to be more equal with the other 2 cars available. As in the previous season the league will consist of seven 1 hour long races with a single-file flying start and a mandatory pitstop. There will be a driver's championship and, as promised after the Round 2 of last season, also a team's championship going along with it.

In comparison to the last GT1 Challenge season, qualifying now only takes place over a 24h period, from Friday to Saturday with the Race following on Sunday.

All LFS drivers and teams are welcome enter the league. Any team may enter any number of cars, there is no limit on the number of drivers a team can have, but only the 2 highest finishing drivers score towards the team championship.

Sign-ups can be found here.

See you on track!
So, after the recent rulebook updates it won't be long until the 2013 GenR GT1 Challenge is under way! We already have already received 33 sign-ups for Round 1 at Aston Historic, one of the fastest tracks on the season schedule, which is just two weeks away from now.
Sign-ups for the first race will be open until 23:59 UTC on the Saturday before the race. Feel free to join.
Special Thanks to Dave (cargame.nl) for letting us use one of his servers last week, greatly appreciated mate!
To avoid clashes with GT1WS, the final 3 rounds of the Genuine Racing GT1 Challenge have been moved back by a week each.
So, after four rounds, the Genuine Racing GT1 Challenge has finally come to South City, racing on the Town Course. The series has seen many thrilling and well attended races in its first half of the season. With three different winners in four rounds there is also a lot of diversity and good competition, and with this round using the slowest track of the season, the FZR should be more as in previous rounds aswell.
Up to this point, Italian consistency has prevailed, with the two team mates Max Norris and Michele Campini from 'PLZ & PRT' currently leading the team's championship while also being in the top two positions of the driver's standings. And although the field has slightly thinned down itself in the last round, there are still a couple of championship contenders able to fight back, especially in the driver's championship, with the top 50 still being mathematically eligible for the title. The main rival for the Italian duo on top should however be Niki Dakovic of Ixion SimSports, who's on a comeback points wise after two difficult events at the start of the season and has won the last round at Aston North.
Qualifying for Round 5 is already under way, but you may still sign up and set a time to be within 107% of the pole position to compete in the race as long as you do it today before 21:00 UTC. Good luck to all the competitors!
With one round to go in the 2013 Genuine Racing GT1 Challenge, one thing is sure: The season has broken many records. Since its announcement in early November 2012, we have received over 100 sign-ups, almost as many as the 2012 season and the inaugural Grand Touring Masters season put together! Once the season got under way the record breaking form continued with over 50 cars trying to qualify for the first race at Aston Historic and a healthy amount of cars in all races so far. In the six previous rounds we have witnessed some fantastic racing throughout the field, whether it was for first or for the final few positions, it was usually hard but fair.

But what did the six previous rounds give us? Well, first of all they got us our first ever GT1 Challenge Team's Champion in the form of the Italian due of Max Norris and Michele Campini, both of which showed remarkable speed and consistency from the very first race onwards making them team's champions with one round to go.

However, nothing is decided in the driver's championship yet! After winning rounds five and six, Nikifor Dakovic of Ixion Simsports is only 38 points behind our current championship leader Max Norris, and with 55 points there for the taking, the championship could go either way. Should Niki score maximum points, Max needs to finish at least 14th should he not already have received points from qualifying. And eventhough that scenario seems unlikely, it's actually very similar to what almost happened to 2012 champion Dennis Lind, on the same track and in the same week in April.

So make sure you watch this place, the title decision will be made in this weekend's event! Qualifying will start on Friday, the 19th of April at 20:00 UTC and will end 24 hours later on the 20th of April at 20:00 UTC. The race will start at 18:00 UTC on Sunday. Sign-ups are still open until the start of qualifying, so if you feel the need for a GTR sprint race, feel free to join in.
