edit - BTW I definitely recommend the icnreased merchant money mod. Makes each merchant have 10000 gold.
Now you can sell all your loot in one go!

I have over 40000 gold right now from enchanting daggers with Banish and selling for a nice sum
Alright, bought this from Steam Xmas Sale last night. Managed to crank a couple of hours and... is this it?

Not impressed by the characters, dialogue (voice acting is mostly terrible) and graphics look a shoddy low-res port even after turning on land and tree self-shadowing. Combat is shallow and AI is stupid on expert difficulty. Mind you I never played Oblivion so I don't know if I'd need it as precursor to enjoy Skyrim but in my opinion Witcher 2 simply destroys Skyrim on nearly all aspects.

I disagree by the way. You must be doing something wrong if the graphics look bad and saying combat is bad right before saying Witcher 2 is better in almost every aspect is hilarious!
Great graphics and gameplay are two aspects you can't criticise Skyrim for. Vocal acting and weird bugs are fair game. Pick on them!!
I find the bugs enjoyable lol. For example, with my Deadric swords, enemy now flies through the air each time they die. This also works when shoting things with bow. Total maddness and great fun.
Keep playing, I'm 100 hours in and only 30% done, a few hours is a drop in the ocean. Just when I thought I had seen it all, a twist comes along

The difficulty level only controls hitpoints and damage I think, not AI
Witcher is a small and linear game in comparison.

Graphics are fine, just textures can be low res, but there is a 4X boost mod at Skyrim nexus, and foilage upgrade
Along with Ugrids at 9. Don't use FXAA - makes it blurry. FSAA is better

Yeah, Witcher 2 is a decent game but it's so small, linear, and limited compared to Skyrim. Totally different experience really, I have a hard time getting immersed in a game where you're funneled down paths, even literally - when I can't jump, and can't wander far off the beaten path I just keep getting reminded that I can't really do anything I want, I have to do things they want me to do in the Witcher.

Honestly, I was a tiny bit underwhelmed in the first hour or so of Skyrim, and then I felt really stupid for being underwhelmed shortly after that :P. The game is probably the best game I've ever played for a full price "AAA" title. For once I don't regret paying full price for a game, there's a crapton of entertainment for the money.
How can you play for 100 hours and get nothing done? I have 51 hours(lvl 41) and I've done the main quest, dark brotherhood, thieves guild, imperial legion, winterhold college, companions and pretty much every quest I stumbled upon... And I don't get the feeling i'm rushing everything.
I think the main difference maybe is the use of fast travvel. While some people wants to take their time walking and exploring, others chose to fast travvel to nearest location to save time and effort.
Myself have used too much fast travvel
I know someone that does the whole roleplay thing and walks in towns etc

would drive me mental
Tried it for the first few hours, then was like "F**K IT!" an took the horse and carriage to all the towns.

I'm about level 41.
I use fast travel as well and I'm not playing slow, but not rushing either.
100 hours it is, I'm only just past the part of the main quest when you go to Riften

Just so many side quests, everytime I travel to a new location I get another 3-5 quests added!
I think the Radiant AI quest generator is working here maybe?
Haven't completed any of those quests lines you listed either
Most are partly done, but not sure how far in.

Not even married yet
Don't use horses, since you can't fight from them!!!!

I do explore once in a while with no regard to quests and find cool things.

I'm only level 30 after 150 hours. I've not set foot on 1/3 of the map yet.

I never fast travel anywhere. Quests are almost secondary to just adventuring/exploring for me. I'll do a quest if it's in the general direction of where I've decided to wander.

I just don't understand how you can have completed all those quests in 51 hours. Seems impossible to me. Must just be: quest, fast travel, quest, fast travel, quest, fast travel.....
The game is designed for you to use the fast travel feature. I just can't stand walking the entire map, I don't have that much free time...
it's not designed for either, there are just options.

80 hours played and at level 40 btw.
Quote from Nadeo4441 :The game is designed for you to use the fast travel feature.

No, it's there as an option for the lazy.

If the game was designed to use fast travel there wouldn't be all those amazing random encounters you have whilst on the road, or all the locations you'll come across no other way but by exploring.

You miss loads of the best things Skyrim has to offer by fast traveling.

Each to their own of course. That's the great thing about sandbox games, play them how you like. I wouldn't be happy missing out on so much great stuff by speeding through it all though.

Have you set a date that you have to complete it by?

I don't care if it takes me until the end of 2012 to complete all the main quests. It's not a race
everyone should give this a try, realistic lighting mod, change the way the game looks big time.

nighttime and dungeon is properly dark too, adds to the chill factor and makes candlelight spell actually somehow useful
Going with my second character, lvl 18 Breton thief (chose Breton because of the magic resistance). It's completely different playing as a character who relies mostly or completely on stealth and daggers.

I got bored playing as a mage/battlemage when got destruction, heavy armor, block, restoration, enchanting, smithing and alchemy to 100. Had over 1k armor in full heavy dragon armor with free destruction spells and full immunity to magic if using a shield (without a shield only had something like 80% damage reduction from magic). Funny thing is that I completely missed the warrior, mage and thief stones in the beginning so didn't use them in any point of the game.
Just a little thread bump.... Thumbs up
