Rules, penalties and point allocation (Update '08-07-07)
General Rules

Preamble and general agreement

Thanks for your interest in this LX league! Our goal is to provide an organized way for great and fair racing during the whole season for everyone regardless of his/her position on the grid - thus we don't like to overregulate every aspect of racing and trust in generally accepted driving standards you can find in the etiquette and on good online servers. However, some custom rules to ease common and potential dangerous situations are inevitable. Please take a few minutes to read and understand the next paragraphs carefully.

Across-the-board behavior on league servers
1. Do not swear or use bad language under any circumstances, doing so can result in a kick or temporary ban.
2. We understand some accidents can be quite nasty and cause angriness, but if you feel unfairly treated set up a complaint after the race in a civilized manner.
3. Obey any decisions and instructions given by administrators even if you may not agree on them at this moment completely. Although we accept critics in post-race discussions, you have to follow them during league races without compromising the organization in any way. If you fail to do so after several requests we are allowed to enforce our claims by penalties.
4. If you are unable to participate in a one of the races, please notify us up to and including 6 hours afore on the according Sunday. Unexcused absence will be penalized by starting from the back in the following league race.
User reports
1. If you have to set up a report regarding an accident after a league event, post them within three days in a civilized manner and include a detailed description (involved drivers, lap/split, own point of view). We will then review the particular replay and announce possible penalties.
Rules on race tracks
§1 Official practice sessions
1. Our primary league server Volvolandia LX will run the next combo of the following official race for training purposes - feel free to join!
2. Previous weekly LX events you can find here will be kept and run the current combo with reduced duration, i.e. all league drivers can use them for training as well.
§2 Official qualifying
1. All drivers are required to join the league server ten minutes before qualifying starts at 18:30 UTC resp. 18:00 UTC for endurance (unless mentioned differently). The password will be submitted via private messages (LFS Forum) on the race day.
2. Ingame chat is limited to a short sorry bind.
3. If you decide not to use the whole session, use Shift+S or finish your cool down lap by pulling into a pit stall. Do not hinder any hotlapping drivers and keep yourself out of the racing line.
4. Using Shift+P is not allowed until the qualifying finished or an admin requests you to do so, i.e. you cannot leave the pits again after running out of fuel or driving a badly damaged vehicle which is unable to reach the pit lane for repairs without being a hazard for other drivers.
5. In case of two or more drivers starting at the back due to penalties, their position among themselves will be determined by extending the qualifying by 5min which are not available for non-punished drivers. After those first 5min have passed, all others are allowed to leave the pits; cars with penalties can complete their current lap and have to spec immediately when crossing the finish line.
6. Depending on possible penalties, it may be necessary to adjust the final grid manually via race entry screen. Do not join or remove/swap other drivers on your own and follow administrative instructions.
7. There will be a ~10min break for e.g. smoking, drinking or visiting the toilet before the following race starts.
§3 Official race

§3.1 General
1. All races will use a random combination of weather and wind.
2. During the lag lap, don't use Shift+S, behave in a civilized manner and do not cause anyone to get out of bounds. Due to LFS engine limitations, he/she will lose the determined position on the grid and intricate correction via race entry screen would be necessary. Server password will be changed afterwards to stop further connections from late joiners.
3. Show extra care when approaching the first few corners. The race won't be restarted under any circumstances except for administrative or server-related reasons.
4. Do not cut corners to gain unfair advantages or face penalty points otherwise. If necessary, anti-cutting layouts may be used as well.
5. Your are not allowed to join resp. leave the pits again after timing out or using Shift+S/P. However, there is no problem to stay as a spectator if you like.
6. To avoid distraction, you are instructed to use the chat for a sorry bind only.
§3.2 Pit stops
1. Some races will include mandatory pit stops as shown in the race calendar.
2. Until further notice, you are not allowed to pit on the last or first lap, resp. on latter for heavy damage resulting in an unroadworthy car only.
3. Stick to pit entry and exit lines at all times and show extra prudence to drivers following the racing line to avoid any unnecessary accidents.
4. Cars on the pit driving lane have right-of-way over those pulling in or out pit stalls.
§3.3 Flag rules
1. All drivers are expected to react to yellow flags properly. If you approach an accident, slow down and prepare to brake or even stop - the road may be blocked completely. Do not try to pass with full throttle.
2. Yellow flag means no passing (except for cars involved in the accident), i.e. if you accidentally did give the other driver an opportunity to regain position as soon as it's safe to do so.
3. It is always the responsibility of lapping drivers to pass backmarkers safely and without causing a great time loss for both, i.e. avoid to overtake in chicanes. Blocking faster cars under blue flag purposely will not be tolerated either.
4. When being blue flagged, stopping on the track or slowing down to walking speed is forbidden at any time.
5. Based on administrative decisions, additionally sanctions like black or red flags may apply as well.
§3.4 Safety car
1. In case of large pile-ups or exceptional hazards, a full-course safety car phase can be declared for a certain amount of laps. All drivers will then receive the message SC (62/100) - NO PASSING on their screens.
2. The driver currently in first position has to slow down immediately, take over the safety car role contemporary and lead the grid at 62mph/100kph. Following cars are instructed to catch up, stay behind with maximum caution and keep a safe distance.
3. SC means no passing, i.e. if you accidentally did, give the other driver an opportunity to regain position as soon as it's safe to do so.
4. Once the accident is cleared and the track is free again, the safety car phase ends with a green flag and normal racing continues instantaneous.
§3.5 After the finish
1. After finishing the race, all drivers should perform a cool down lap at reduced speed and stop in pit stalls. Chatting is reallowed when every driver crossed the finish line.
