I second the 42" 1080p as a TV. I dont find the file size difference worth the quality difference but yes , i do find 1080p to be sharper than 720p, i mean,
that's what it does. Best i found was blue-ray player at 1080p and some proper movie, Avatar for example, to showcase. I used Wall-E .

Most of the time, 720p is more than enough. Thing is, when people say better resolution doesnt make a bad movie better, i found that sometimes it can
make them more bareable, some scenes have so much stuff going on in the background to distract you that you actually SEE it now :P.

As for playing games on it, i admit i never tried, too far for wires, blah blah, maybe one day. I would probably say the same though.

*note to self: Buy wireless mouse+keyboard+gamepad to play games on TV

This doesn't mean less terrorist attacks, it means less big ones from my opinionated stand point.

I would think similarly, and add it helps disorganise them. The timing of this
event is suspisciously good, like they've been keeping it for rainy days.
With all the democratic uprisings in the arab world (...), this is a
strategic strike in the 'arab spring'.

Thing is, what if Osama is actually Jesus. I mean, we have killed him all over
again. Although that means he should be back... Dumping his corpse at sea
shouldnt pose a problem for him, he could just walk back to land.

Ya, i should stop now.:insane:

Quote from Racer X NZ :
You lot are much happier believing your media, we're not so believing down here.

Wait, aren't you the one posting american media articles and british docs as 'evidence' ?
I think you are the one believing in 'our' medias. Most of us aren't, or at least can read through
the bullshit. Where is the proof that we actually believe everything in the medias ?

I've had my share of conspiracy readings and yeah sure, some can make arguments that make
lots of sense, but most often there's that "...and a miracle happens" step that just kills it. I think
the main difference is that some of us already accept this, we aren't surprised. Like someone
wrote a few pages back, governments lie, medias aren't objective, people make up stuff to get
attention or to create a diversion. That's nothing new.

Frankly i almost feel responsible for the mood of this thread since i posted that blue-beam link...
although there is one interesting part which i will repost here"

Quote :Project Blue Beam has all the usual hallmarks of a conspiracy theory:
  • It attempts to shoehorn events that have happened and are happening into its predictive framework, particularly with references to films being used to prep people psychologically for the conspiracy's dramatic conclusion.
  • It shows a lack of comprehension of the practical psychology of those who are not paranoid.
  • It plays on fears of alleged advanced technology that most people, including its author, do not understand.

I agree with DeadWolfBones on many points

To me, this is first and formost a political event. Like major. That said, it's been barely a day and this is probably
the most bullshit prone news of the decade so it'll take time to know what really happened, that is, the closest
we can come to the most probable outcome.

First thing i thought was, this is a movie. Visions of navy seals in black helis in the night...life imitating art. Most
of the details i've read so far seem spoon-fed to me perhaps because of how they are relativement consistent
in the maybe 50 or so articles ive read so far (from varied sources as much as possible). Obama mentionning this
mission being layed out since last august, all this well executed plan seems very credible, in a hollywood movie at
least. Still, i'd like to believe there really are some guys capable of doing this, and actually did. They made a plan,
they took their time, they made the hit count and it worked. It's not that far fetched honestly. Makes you wonder
why we sends thousands in plain sight sometimes.

To me the question would be why wasn't it done sooner ? I mean Obama didnt start from scratch, the USA government
had decades of back intel from the Bush years, and much further back, Bin Laden family diplomatic ties, helping afgans
repel the russians which is where they became associated with 'helping/arming/enabling' Osama, who had become this
sort of hero for the 'locals', at least that's how the story goes.

It'll do as previous have in this thread and mention how this is how i see it with the info i've had. I don't think anyone
here has access to actual classified documents, even then, he couldn't divulge it so...there.

Anyways, to continue on my opening idea, one of the first thing that came to mind when i heard this news was Osama
calling Bush. I lol'd. That's gotta be a kick in the nuts. This is politically a big thing for Obama, especially considering he
just discredited Trump and his senile ranting about his birth certificate (somehow i imagine Trump and Sheen would get
along great. Someone should introduce them, but im wandering off the topic..). Someone mentionned coming elections,
democrats have never been the 'pro-war' party but this single action actually means more and might get a few republican
votes.

On a related note...
I often hear about how big news are the best time to release bad news hoping it gets lost in the hype of the big news and
people won't notice or care. First thing i found, kadafi's (F*#@ the spelling) son was killed. Actually, NATO bombed a
'communications' building that just so happened to have kadafi and is son and grand-kids and bla bla, stories dont say
much, but all confirm one of his son dead. This would have been big news but i had to look for it, it's not in any local media.
That's just one. Conspiracy theorists can start having flashes now....Obama is a cover up for something bad going down under
our noses, they are all in on it !!! ohh nooess !!!

Maybe it's this...

Ok so i fall on this video and im not surprised to see them try such a stunt,
really, i'm not. The thing that amazes me is how is this even possible !?

http://www.break.com/index/cha ... -on-a-moving-jeep-2017478

What kind of 'transaxle' are we talking about here? I dont see any system
capable of stopping both wheels on the left side while being able to power
the right ones. One thing i can rule out are open diffs...it would get no
traction if it was the case. As for locked diffs, well, the left wheels would be
spinning so thats out also. So wtf is this ? A one off RWD (right wheel drive)
vehicle ? Surely that would be problematic once you need to change the
wheels on the right side.. Or is this some obscure (to me) vehicle capable of
deactivating individual wheels from the transmission ?

I imagine this must be some sort of military spec 'feature', allowing damaged vehicles
to continue moving.

Quote from speedykev :come off it Moderators don't stop us moaning it's passing the time away. lol

Yes, we are quite aware of that, heck, we do it too sometimes.

I never said i liked waiting so long for this update. I was asking for 'controlled' modding back in the beginning
and it's still nowhere near. There are many things i'd do with LFS if it was MY baby, but it's not.

It's clear that everyone is just stuck on their positions and whatever anyone says, will continue thinking THEY are
right and some even seem to think they are owed something. Honestly i dont care. Make a poll and be done with it :P

Scawen gimme my 'host scruteneering off' button NOW !!

Now all i need is to ask this repeatedly and argue vigourously with everyone who doesnt agree.
Oh wait, i don't have the patience for that...

Oh man, i can't say im surprised to see this thread digging itself deeper and deeper still, but reading (futile zillionth repetitions
of same ideas) i see one main aspect many dont seem to grasp:

LFS IS A CAR SIMULATOR.

No one ever implied that this was a customer service simulator. It's easy to sit at your PC and find flaws in everything,
we can all do that, yet we dont because some of us realise that the devs arent out to piss people off. They are trying
to make the best sim they can. THAT is the reason we are all here. Yes, we DID notice its taking time.

You've all had a product for the money you spend (imo a good investement),some even use it for free, it works fine as is,
it had many updates (which, i repeat, sigh, MANY other games dont do for as long as LFS has). How many of you are
demanding support for 10 year old games ?! Just the fact that we are all here still waiting just tells Scawen that we DO
indeed want the upcoming updates and WILL be around. There is nothing left to say that hasn't already been said and that
Scawen isnt aware of. Furthermore, nothing you can say will change anything. Accept it, be 'zen', go play outside, socialize
(many seem to need to practice that part). Yes, its taking long, but deal with it. IM SURE you've lived through worse.

Like XCNuse mentionned, as moderators it is our JOB to see that things dont turn to personal insults and such, it has nothing
to do with being a fanboy or denying reality.

One last thing, Scawen DID listen to the community (and probably regrets it lol) by posting this update. Still, some are never
happy and have this habit of always looking for flaws and/or are generally negative.

Ok, now go find flaws in what i said (even though i just wrote this real fast on my lunch break..) and feel almighty for doing so.

Don't worry, i still wove you guys.

Oh man, Scawen. What to say...

For starters, there are still many of us who remember the very beginning of this game and will always hold LFS very dearly.
It was back in, what was it, 2002 ? Back then it was one of the most realistic sims evah ! I still play from time to time
and im always amazed at how natural it feels. Sure, the tire physics arent perfect, nothing is, but the whole 'game' has always
felt natural to me (the gui, the online racing, the setups, the multiple options, the close contact with the devs, the community
well, the old one...lol...etc..)

A vote for LFS is a vote against deadline-driven faceless global companies buying each other until they merge into this one big
ugly entity sucking the life out of us. Forget about technical support. Just format, reinstall or buy a better PC. With this comes
compromises many are not willing to live with. Many have gotten used (or were simply not alive before that..) to this instant
society where you can blame others for your impatience. That's a shame really, because many of us can asure you, happyness
doesnt come from instant gratification.

I for one feel lucky to have found LFS when i did. I've always felt priviledged to be part of this community ( although my
beginnings were disturbing to some..) and i'll continue to support the devs whatever they ultimately do with LFS. Sure, its
easy to sit here and bitch on a forum because you didnt get the xmas gift you wanted. Then again, did you act nice ALL
year ? Really ? What about those 'links' i see in your browser....mmmm. I thought so.

So, yeah, of course i'd love to have ANY 'alpha', 'beta', 'test' patch. I mean, that's always been a part of LFS, the constant
progress and the feeling we were part of it. That is, unfortunately, the thing i miss the most. This tyre physics is a pandora's
box ( it is even for people MAKING real tyres...). While i doubt Scawen can attain the level of perfection he is aiming for in
reasonable time, im sure he knows that and will eventually find a compromise he is confortable with. When that day comes,
i'll still be here and i'll be happy to go online and try it . :P

Until then, Scawen, Victor, oh and Eric (we barely knew ya), i wish you a happy christmas and a happy new year. Take a
break from the stresses of LFS, go drift your cars in the snow while NOT visualising the tire and what it must be doing
(im talking to you Scawen...lol) and let the ingrate kids complain, they always will.

Maybe i'm not understanding correctly, but you can put the 'startline' wherever
you want using the editor and pressing 's'. Although maybe you mean the

All you apocalypse freaks can calm down.

There's been many waves of cheats/hacks in LFS.
The first dating back to the very beginning in 2002-2003.
LFS has always been resilient to cheats/hacks.

Personally, i think it brings some spice to a stagnant
developement and i don't think there's any 'new' hacks
Scawen hasnt already seen 100 times. As much as you guys
like to complain about slow developement, unlike many other
games, it is STILL being developped after all this time

I dont think advertising all this on the forums is helping
much though. I'd recommend anyone witnessing these
kinds of behaviors to record and sent info to the devs.
Stop giving cheaters/hackers the attention they so
obviously crave. More than that, i see it as glamourizing
these behaviors and giving ideas to other people.

Nothing special here really.
Fonnybone

I thought the extra heat when 'new' was caused by the
actual contact patch having a varied pressure on the
ground due to camber, as the tire wears out, the 'higher'
parts wear down to the surrounding thread, evening out
the pressure across the contact patch and consequently
overheated less.

Wow this thread is getting ridiculously big:
200 000+ views,
1900+ posts,
66+ pages.

I've seen quite a bit of small dev teams (game mods mostly) use an update blog, once a month,
game related or not, they put a few lines just to show they are alive. I still think it could help all this
useless b!tching and moaning. If Scawen has the flu for a month, he can just write that No need for
false promises or pressure. Heck lots of people were helping out when he bought his house, had a whole
thread on it if i remember...

Seriously though, i understand both sides and there's just no perfect solution. We need to wait, and to help
waiting, people need entertainement. Some come here to chat, some play other games, some come here just
to complain. In all cases, as Gunn noted, if you still come here looking for updates, then you obviously like this
game enough to be bothered with waiting so long with no update

Hey, it's a valid investment towards your karting 'career'.
Even better, LFS will outlast any parts you can buy for
your kart. You'll get the MRT5 which is similar to karts
AND you'll be able to make your own layouts, great for
practicing the different venues you would be racing.

Server's aren't as busy as they used to be, but there are
still some good ones out there. By the time you get familiar
with the new cars and tracks, we should get that infamous
tire (i meant tyre :schwitz physics patch.
