League Rules
1. Eligibility

You must have a Live for Speed S2 License to participate in event, because the event uses cars and tracks that are only available in the full version of S2.

Clean and friendly racers of any skill level are allowed into our races.

2. General information

If you're not already S2 Licensed, an S2 License can be purchased at the Official LFS Website

All events are held on the "vMaxHome" LFS Server. The server will be private at the time of the event. Passwords will change from week to week. This information will be sent by e-mail to all participants.

All events will use the LX4 and LX6 cars. One driver from each team will drive the LX4 and the other will drive the LX6. There will be two classes on the track during races. There will be a seperate points for each class as well as a team championship.

3. Racing Etiquette

3.1 Driving

Take care to race clean/fair, i.e. do not hit other cars or obstacles, do not force other racers off the track, and do not ignore flags.

The driving line must be taken as laid out by the track. With this in mind, you must try to keep at least 2 wheels on the track at all times and not hit any of the cones, tires, barrels or walls. If you consistently cut corners you may be penalized.

Resetting the car will usually result in disqualification from the event. In the case of a car reset being forced by an incident, a racer may continue the race. The racer should report this incident and appeal after the race. The incident will be reviewed after the race by the stewards. If the other driver(s) involved in the incident are deemed to have caused it and thus forced the appealing driver to reset, this driver will be allowed to retain his finishing position.

3.2 Overtaking and racing

The overtaking driver must have a significant overlap on the leading car before the turn-in point in order to overtake in a corner unless the leading driver makes a mistake.

The leading driver should make his intentions clear using the body language of the car. Leaving a car width for the driver behind by not apexing and not leaving room out of the corner is unacceptable.

The car on the inside must not squeeze the car on the outside off the track when coming out of the corner. The car on the outside must not squeeze the car on the inside towards the apex. To make sure that you are able to drive both inside and outside lines it is recommended that you also practice 2 laps hugging the right hand side of the track and 2 laps hugging the left hand side of the track. This way you won't be in unknown territory when you are racing close.

Drivers following another car must leave enough room to the car in front so that they can take evasive action to avoid an incident if need be.

3.3 Pitting

Pitting is allowed. However, you may only pit by driving into the pits in the direction of the track. Pitting by other means, Esc+Pits or Shift+S, will result in a disqualification for the event.

4. Teams

Teams are made up of 2 or 3 drivers, the 3rd optional driver being a reserve driver. Teams may call on another driver to take part in the race, provided there is proper reason for the reserve and one of the drivers to be unable to take part in the event. Drivers may swap cars during the season.

5. Events

There will be 9 events per season - 7 normal events and 2 special endurance events. The events will be weekly, with a one week break after every 3 events. Exact dates are to be advised.

5.1 Practice and warm-up

There will be a weekly practice session. This will not be compulsory but it is recommended that drivers attend. During this time the "vMaxHome" server will be private and only accessible to members of the league.

There will also be a 1 hour warm-up session prior to qualifying. This session will not be compulsory either.

5.2 Qualifying

Qualifying will be in a single-lap format with no more than two cars on track at any given time. First, all the LX6 drivers will go on track, followed by the LX4 drivers. As one car begins its flying lap, the next car leaves the pits behind it. Once a driver has completed his flying lap, the driver must spectate immediately. Drivers will go out in the order in which their teams have registered for the league.

5.3 Normal Races

Normal races will be approximately 40 minutes at LX6 WR pace on the given track. Pit-stops are not mandatory. There will be 7 normal races per season.

5.4 Special Endurance Events

Special endurance events will be approximately 80 minutes at LX6 WR pace on the given track. Pit-stops are not mandatory. There will be 2 special endurance events per season.

6. Points

At the end of the race, LX6 drivers only collect points from the overall standings and LX4 drivers collect points from both the LX4 class standings and the overall standings.

LX4 Class points go as follows:
1st : 12 points
2nd : 8 points
3rd : 6 points
4th : 4 points
5th : 2 points
6th : 1 point

Overall points go as follows:
1st : 16 points
2nd : 12 points
3rd : 9 points
4th : 7 points
5th : 6 points
6th : 5 points
7th : 4 points
8th : 3 points
9th : 2 points
10th : 1 point

Results will be updated once all appeal deadlines for infringements have passed for the event in order to avoid the confusion of changing results. This will usually be within 4-5 days of the event.

Points are awarded to the cars of each team rather than racers. If team members choose to swap cars throughout the season, the points they acquire will be awarded to the team's LX4 and the team's LX6, rather than the racers themselves. This is because LXCC is a team-oriented event.

7. Penalties

7.1 Handling of Infringements

It is impossible for the administrators to watch every replay of events and analyse it completely. Because of this, racers are asked to report anything unfair that they see during a race. To have a successful claim, the driver must also provide a replay of the incident. If the administrators decide that this offense is worthy of a penalty, this can result in points deduction, disqualification, penalty in the following event's qualifying results or a warning for the penalising driver. If a driver continuously receives penalties, the administrators have the right to ban him from the league.

The penalty is attached to the car as opposed to the driver in the case of a penalty for the following week's qualifying session. This is because of the possibility to use reserve drivers etc. Therefore, if the LX4 driver receives such a penalty, the LX4 driver will receive this penalty the following week, even if it is not the same driver.

Penalties can be issued for any unsportsmanlike behaviour, be it driving the wrong way around the track, deliberately crashing into other drivers, the use of bad language or anything else that the administrators consider unacceptable.

Infringements and penalties will be posted in this thread. Racers can report infringements in the same thread. Once infringements are past the date of appeal, they will be moved to this thread.

7.2 Appeals

Once a racer has received a penalty, he has the right to appeal to the stewards. Appeals can be posted in this thread.

Penalties will not be increased for failed appeals. Successful appeals may result in a lesser penalty or a reversal of the penalty altogether.

Complaints that someone has been let off lightly will also be considered (provided the said complaint is filed by someone involved in the incident - i.e. one of the parties involved), but the decision will rarely be changed but for some compelling, factual argument.

If a penalty is deemed, categorically, to be too harsh, or - indeed - not harsh enough, then we will consider revisions to the rules to reflect this. This, however, will not affect a penalty that has already been given (even under appeal), as the race would have been conducted under a previous rule-set.

Details on how to appeal can be found at the bottom of each infringement report, along with the appeal deadline.

8. Connectivity

8.1 Player Connectivity

In the case of a single player lagging out, that player is allowed to reconnect to the server and rejoin the race. However, this will lead to him starting the race from scratch because it is difficult to keep track of laps completed. This may change once time-based racing options expand and we can get closer to our target race lengths, but this change will not take place in the middle of a season.

Drivers timing out during the lag lap will have three minutes to reconnect to the server. This is sufficient time for a reboot a PC and get LFS up and running again. If it is a major issue, the league cannot put the race on hold for a single racer.

8.2 Server Connectivity

If more than 25% of the field times out before the race is over, the server is considered to be the issue. 5 racers dropping out could lead to major shifts in points and this would not be fair on anybody.

If server problems occur after 2/3 of the race is completed, 50% of the points are awarded to everyone, as per standings before the server crash.

If server problems occur before 2/3 of the race is completed, the race is rescheduled after the end of the season and qualifying is repeated. Due to reserve drivers etc. we can't just shift everything a week forwards because this may lead to a reserve driver's practice for a particular combo going to waste.

Rules updated on Wednesday November 15th

Previous Rules in normal text, comments in italics:

Resetting the car will result in immediate disqualification from the event.

A clause has been added for the case of a car reset being forced due to a racing incident.

4. Teams

Teams are made up of 2 or 3 drivers, the 3rd optional driver being a reserve driver. Of the other two drivers, one will drive the LX4 for the entire season and the other will drive the LX6 for the entire season.

These rules were altered prior to the first event and teams were notified by e-mail that they can swap the driver. Also, teams have been allowed to use more reserve drivers where proper reason has been given. I apologise for the late change in these rules to reflect this.

6. Points

At the end of the race, LX6 drivers only collect points from the overall standings and LX4 drivers collect points from both the LX4 class standings and the overall standings.

LX4 Class points go as follows:
1st : 12 points
2nd : 8 points
3rd : 6 points
4th : 4 points
5th : 2 points
6th : 1 point

Overall points go as follows:
1st : 16 points
2nd : 12 points
3rd : 9 points
4th : 7 points
5th : 6 points
6th : 5 points
7th : 4 points
8th : 3 points
9th : 2 points
10th : 1 point

Additional information is now provided about official result updates. Further clarification has been provided concerning the awarding of points.

A clause has been added to describe the procedure of dealing with racing incidents and appeals. Also, some minor grammar corrections have taken place with regards to possible penalties. The rules as to how penalties are handled have been made more specific.

Furthermore, a new section - Section 8 - has been added to deal with connectivity issues.

NOTE: These updated rules will be in effect from Saturday the 18th of November 2006 and Tuesday the 21st of November for both Saturday and Tuesday divisions respectively.
