What if..
LFS had easter eggs to compliment users?

let me try to explain.
we are at the verge of new types of graphics.
im thinking more animations may come in the future.
and a small gimmick at that could be making some easter eggs inside LFS while playing.

my idea is simply.
if we could have like animated bunnies and foxes (yep you read that totally correct).
they could cross the track, giving drivers a huge scare.

the idea is this.

if x number of racers (say 2000) is logged into Master server.
master server releases a code for the
"one in a million" chance to see a fox or rabbit crossing the track.
if it should have any "crash" effect. i dont think. but it would bring some "holy crap" moments into the very playzone of LFS. unexpected things your game style cant do anything about. "rare happening events".

sometimes IRL some animal gets through fences and barriers(mainly smaller animals) to tracks and we have seen before some animal getting destroyed by a race car on track.

i think in general also more animated things like gates and other things coudl be animated to open and close (maybe if car is nearby it or via insim).

i think you get the idea though.
meaning master server will "reward" you with a "rare event" if youre lucky and x number people are logged into master server releasing the possibllity to maybe just one player (which also would bring people into social talking, and perhaps even a competition of how many times you have seen an animal cross the track inside LFS) foreks. (pretty sure some would totally hunt it).

so in short. suggestion is master server easter eggs based on how many is logged into it.

EDIT:
in the context of "rare events" this could perhaps later on also be stuff like fallen tree logs on offroads and many other things. im sure the magical world of scavier can come up with something intensly cool though !
i may also say that as i do like animals. they should not interfere with the racing itself.
as such they should "survive" to the other side of the track, just giving a driver a "rare event" experience without ruining a race for them.

What the actual **** is this post
related to Erics post on animations :
https://www.lfs.net/forum/post/1958575#post1958575

i cant find it right now, but sure Scawen wrote trees will animate wind blowing in trees (moving trees).

which is sort of related too i think.

sorry i failed to find it so i could quote on it here.
Edit: found it in march report :
https://www.lfs.net/forum/post/1954341#post1954341
Quote from Scawen :Apart from all that technical stuff I did one visual update. The individual tree objects can now move with the wind. Not only the old auto-generated trees (which have been improved) but all the other individual trees and bushes too. It's a fairly subtle effect but it does make the place seem a bit more alive.

dang that was tricky to find again and quote on Big grin

to go full monty.
closed off areas could have like in westhill, horses and cows simulating a farm area with animations so they sort of walk around in their fold. to give an example far into the future. it would make LFS more real and also add to environment life which could also have ambient sounds to go with them.
as suggested in this thread :
https://www.lfs.net/forum/thread/92398-Ambient-sounds

another relation is my suggestion for moving water :
https://www.lfs.net/forum/post/1952521#post1952521
vegetation movement (made now) :
https://www.lfs.net/forum/post/1945572#post1945572
except for exhaust smoke this is also implemented in LFS today :
https://www.lfs.net/forum/post/1938060#post1938060
not sure how far this is currently :
https://www.lfs.net/forum/post/1945572#post1945572
and my stupid suggestion of helicopters rotorblades :
https://www.lfs.net/forum/post/1937723#post1937723

maybe its not that stupid after all ?
i may not always be so good at explaining.
but people have a loose tricker finger of discarding whatever i say because of perception to other things i have posted.
however. if you really think about these things mentioned in this post.
that would infact make LFS top of the line simulation very hard to beat for other sims on the "reality" side of it. it would make you feel very alive inside LFS giving you an environment almost as in real life. even more so with VR .
and again. excuse me for being way ahead in thoughts.
but i sincerely hope atleast some of it comes into LFS, as i can tell some actually has and is used today in current version.
and thank you a ton for that to all Developers.
regards Wiz.

Quote from Eric :Hi Warper,

Thanks for the kind words.Smile

I agree with you that it's much easier to build real tracks because the circuit design has already been done, tested and modified. We don’t have that luxury when it comes to fictional circuits and that’s where all the headaches start, unless you are unusually gifted..... which I am not. Smile Most of what I do design-wise is down to a bit of trial and error. When I think I’ve dialled into a design that I still enjoy driving the next day, I’ll continue to add the scenery.

But your reference should always start with real circuits. When we acquired the Rockingham Track license it gave me the opportunity to learn a lot about track geometry and over-all track design. Now I look back at all the existing LFS tracks and I can see lots of ways to improve them, which I WILL get around to at some point! Big grin

Btw, I didn’t build any of the worlds in Black & White. I was a character animator, which I still consider to be my main, natural talent if you can call it that.
Eric

Quote from THE WIZARD DK :Eric actually said a bit simular once :

i would have thought fictional tracks were easier to make .
because you design it yourself ,hence can decide whatever.
i didnt know you too were on black & white. now i do.
but as i never really seen this post before ,
maybe an update to marshalls in LFS with animation could be suggested?
go left (or right), he raises the arm as cars pass by, and lowers it while no cars in some distance from them?
that would also bring a little more life to tracks environments.
could go further even, to ambulance staff, lorry/truck staff etc.caravan people with a coffee table sitting watching the race.
and crowds could rise up and down with arms when passing by and sit down again when no cars around.
oh my. that sort of turned into a suggestion somehow. lfs player hacker tool, could maybe be updated by you aswell?
things mentioned here , i think people would take to them in a good way tbh.
maybe i should make that in suggestions, but i guess it will be noticed here.
take your time Eric. i for one am sure the time taken also makes it worth it. well thats my general idea with anything LFS really. quality over quantity.

EDIT:
Landmass flatness. in some areas of LFS it seems to be out of scale with some things. (not that its important as such) , but it is visible with some things. example could be tirestacks. one tire would go to the knee of marshal , when on tire wall side flat on ground. ofc some tires are made this big, but if looking at uf1 tires, compared. theres actually a very visible difference in scale.another example i noticed is the wood fence in westhill.im aware its a barrier to closed areas, but they are as tall or maybe even taller than a car which seems unlikely irl. heres what i mean :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxhxL1LzKww

as a last edition to a suggestion , it would also be nice to see containers actually in use like this test i made for lorry´s. only problem is its mirrored on the other side. as it is using the same file as in the old skin doors which also was mirrored on one side.this was made from the LFS containers on westhill. as you can see it has no top on it (yet) hence its a testfile, just to see how it would look ingame.

I think it's a good idea.
For real? This would be hands down the most useless feature of LFS. It is still a racing simulator, not a high seat simulator, you know?
That would be dumb, useless and ironically, a clip of a cutie bunny crossing the road during a race would generate easily over a 100k views on YT and make publicity for the game which helps the game sell. It's that kind of age we live in.

Developers are not publicists and publicists aren't developers so very often, viral stuffs turn to over-hyped empty shells while some rarities unknown to most people, such as LFS, have much more substance and commitment.
If Scawen ever turns LFS into a visual-novel on Steam starring some hot horny female racing drivers with bunny tails, cyan hair and giant anime eyes coupled with some disturbing personality disorder in their quest of "Lust for Speed", then I guess cutie bunnies might cross the street.

PS: I'm not saying I vouch for cutie bunnies.

PS2: This might be the weirdest thread I've ever read on this forum Wizard. Don't ever change.

dont forget it was mentioned Eric likes the cruise idea, hence open areas might be seen in southcity and perhaps beyond in the future.
and as shown, some ideas i had previously is infact in LFS today.

watch the comments forexample in the headlight beam thread.

thats exactly what you do now here Wink

Quote from Skytrill :PS2: This might be the weirdest thread I've ever read on this forum Wizard. Don't ever change.

why would i.
if you read what i wrote above.
some of my weird things are infact in LFS today.

racing is a flow aswell as music. sometimes crazy is the best way to go !

"cant find the flow, offtrack you go" Smile

weird thoughts and crazy thinking , put a man on the moon!
from post 1 :
Quote from THE WIZARD DK :just giving a driver a "rare event" experience without ruining a race for them.

i believe music as most know im in and coding can be very simular thinking process, as you in both, would have to think "backwards" sometimes, in order to make something fit. in djing you always have to have 2 tracks in mind at all times and therefore thinking how they can fit together even if completely different type of tracks(hard for many to even understand, even djs). in coding you also have to think "backwards" in order to make some things fit eachother, going back and forward in the code. the thinking process is somewhat simular with some things atleast. i think Scawen knows this too. to be perfectly honest with you.
I have to say that Samir mod seems freaking hilarious although it might get enervating and repetitive after a few runs.

Quote from Skytrill :I have to say that Samir mod seems freaking hilarious although it might get enervating and repetitive after a few runs.

didnt noticed the photographer running across the road...
if that was in LFS, would you have noticed him on track?

Quote from BeNoM :The same as the rest of his schizophrenic ramblings.

you race right.
many use LFS for Folk race or rally stages.

in those terms it would be highly plausible to have some animals running around.

but you may not think of that, if racing.
so its not only meant for racing on tarmac, which infact could have a simple option . animals on track [ON/OFF]. could be useful for Cruise too.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOc2OUi2Fzw

warning, fatal hit of animals:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEAnsFScWqc
also sort of shows racers dont really care much for animals.
i live in a nation where the law says you have to go help anyone you may hit. human or animal.
but it DOES happen.
and no animals dont understand what a road is...

EDIT:
A friend of mine once bought a Truck/Lorry, a Scania i forgot the version of.
1.4 million dkr i think.
after one week, hes ego told him if he had to turn heads of other lorry/Truck drivers,
it was a thing to have one of those front bars, which i believe (in my nation) is called Kangaroo fenders.
basically massive iron bars on the front. so he got those made , 40.000dkr.
after they installed the thing, he was happy with his new front full of chrome and all.
he got it back on a Friday from the auto shop. on Monday he went back to work.
first delivery he was supposed to do, went through the worldknown cheese town of Holme-Olstrup,
which have a road with a massive turn going first downhill then uphill again.
many drive that road to get the "fly" feel as their cars suspension stretches full out,
hence it feels like flying. its a 60 or 80 kph zone ,but most go through this winding road alot faster,
because of that feel. he did too. however in the bottom of the hill, which is also a sharp turn, especially with a lorry full cargo and theres high trees to block the apex view.
and right there, was a fullblown cow bull standing in the middle of the road, and boom.
it totalled his newly bought kangaroo fender completely. and also major damage on the truck.
i believe a cow of that size can weigh 6-800 kilos, which make such an impact mega hard.
cow died on the spot, and he sold that truck as scrap metal. its was simply destroyed.
i dont know how much cargo he had in the trailer, but i guess some tons.
as he later said, maybe it was expensive to buy that front,
which i later on believe was banned (the type he had)
simply because those trucks if hitting a human would insta kill and take no damage.
but even it was expensive for him to buy it, it did save his life.
thats why i think its highly plausible having a one in a million chance for that to happen in LFS.
if you look at it from a racey perspective, how many times have you or someone else,
hit the exactly same lap time in same race ? doesnt happen often. but it does happen.
thats the type of "chance" i think would make LFS so much more than most other SIMS.
hope that schizophrenic explanation gives you an idea of what i mean.

Meanwhile down under :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awwQC-32R2k

it perhaps also would teach some, to actually use their brakes for life.
i mean is it that important to keep a place in a race, that you have to not lift at all?
taking a life for it ? yes its "just" an Animal. but hey. its also LIFE.
theres almost no freaking Animals left in this world exactly because of that thinking.
personally, if i saw a Kanagaroo on track i would most likely protect it with my car from other cars, until it safely can return to Nature.imagine the stress Animals get finding themselves in the middle of a race.
well look how that Marshal runs for his life.. to give an idea...
also. it keeps your reaction time ajour!
and thats what this is about.
bringing more LIFE into LFS.

and i know DEVS can make cows Wink
another of these crazy thoughts could be having ambulances and fire trucks but also police cars along with civillian cars and lorry´s.
but those with blink on roof could actually have those turned on whenever a race or open config is in use. could be attached to insim but also to start lights, so they turn off when start goes green. (to not be annoying while in a serious race)
Quote from BeNoM :The same as the rest of his schizophrenic ramblings.

Quote from UniValvePlums :a good one

yer it is. only problem with people typing in this thread is they dont really get how far ahead it is. but you probably know when the time comes.

what people dont seem to get into their brains is these type of ideas is only just that. ideas.
the more the better. suggestion section is the place where devs can explore ideas.
and thats what it is. ideas. some said i was crazy suggesting headlight beams.
one thing lead to another and today that lead us to get night cycles and graphical improvements, steering lock ,new tires etc..
