Quote from ACCAkut :why? Its the non FFB version, no-one wants those today. But its a good base for DIY hardware, 8 buttons, two axis' (gas and brake is combined) and no extra power supply required. Easy to build a Shifter and an analog handbrake with it.

Turned out you were wrong

You quoted my post before I edited it

the 660ti is below the 560ti and the 570, but after googling around, I found this site for example:
http://www.hwcompare.com/13161/gefor...ce-gtx-660-ti/

This page is about comparing a 660ti with a 580. Of course the 580 will outperform the 660. This 2 cards are not in the same league of price and performance.

Quote :
Im not sure in what the 320 bit memory interface could do a best performance in gaming

The bit memory interface does not necessarily influence the overall performance of the Graphics card. There are graphics card's with 128bit memory interface with much better performance than 256bit cards.
Do not rely on it.

Quote :
I dont understand those numbers because a friend of mine told me that the real performance of GPU are not based on the amount of memory, so I dont know what to see in this specs list.

The amount of memory itself does not necessarily make impact on the overall performance as well. For example the MSI GT430 4GB DDR3 comparing to my GTX560ti hawk with 1GB GDDR5 is like comparing a XFG with a XFR

Quote :
the pci xpress 3.0 is a nice feature but my mobo (asus sabertooth x58) is pci xpress 2.0, I dont know if that would be a waste?

You can plug the card in your (very good) motherboard without loss of performance. And if there is a difference, you will not notice.
If you buy a pci express 3.0 ready motherboard along with a similar CPU to yours the difference will be generally 5% max.

It is very difficult to be sure how well a graphics card will perform comparing to others just by seeing the specifications. Even worse when you are seeing graphics cards from different generations.
From generation to generation the architecture of the PCB (Printed circuit board) is evolving every time so you can't just see the specifications and be 100% sure the X card will be better than Y card.

The trick is to search benchmarks and see the real performance about the GPU's you are interested.

At the moment if you have around 300$ to spend the way to go is the 660ti. (ti! not 660 non ti models, pay attention to that)
If you have around 250$ well.. wait a bit and get another 50 bucks
Be aware for further releases, the MSI GTX660ti Power Edition looks to me the better card to go at this moment. Don't know if it will be the same in 2 or 3 months. Be updated.

The motherboard+cpu combo you have is very good so if you have a decent amount of memory (4GB for example) then you are more than good to go.

Your english isn't bad

If you have the extra money, go get the GTX660ti. (MSI Power Edition preferably)
If you are a little low on budget, get the GTX560ti. (MSI Hawk Edition or 448 Cores edition preferably)

Basically is like this:

GTX560ti (Hawk Edition) vs GTX570 = ~10% less powerful than the GTX570, it is cheaper and consumes much less watts. (Games like Metro 2033 or Crysis 1: GTX570 will consume around 400W max, GTX560ti around 320W)
GTX660ti vs GTX570 = About 20% more powerful than the GTX570, costs a bit more and consumes much less watts. (GTX660ti and GTX560ti under the same games are very similar at power consumption)
GTX560ti vs GTX660ti = No need to make a comparison I guess.

I advise you to wait a bit and get a GTX660ti GPU. No point investing 250 or 260 bucks on a GTX570 if you can buy a GTX660ti for around 30 extras bucks. It's a no brainer.
In case you are low on budget buy a GTX560ti, it consumes much less than a GTX570 and still is an awesome GPU to play Live for Speed.

I always had MSI GPU's and never had the slightest problem with them. MSI is highly regarded because of their air cooling systems. I have a MSI GTX560ti Hawk and I have excellent performance playing Live For Speed, even with hi-resolution texture pack I can get around 40-50fps with the full grid with TV camera. (With 1920x1080 resolution and with everything maxed out)
But I always have my FPS count stuck at around 300-350 most of the time. Sometimes I get almost 500

Oh yes, do not record Live For Speed with Fraps please

Quote from Senninha25 :So much hate there that it's not even worth discussing.

This is something that looks small but is a major shake-up in the drivers' market. I'm feeling sure that Schumacher is pretty much out of a seat for 2013 - he wouldn't go to another team without 1. Asking for a big paycheck and 2. Being assured that he would be given a competitive car. Not to mention that he's got his age and this failed comeback as two BIG reasons for a team not to hire him. I would personally love to see him keep racing, maybe having a go at Le Mans or even (hopefully not) DTM.

There are so many people eligible for that Sauber seat for 2013...I hope they will think about this wisely...and bring someone from either WSR or GP3, there's a lot of talent there

Unless something crazy happens Schumacher will not race in Formula 1 next year. In 3 years he only got 1 pole and 1 podium (just). Rosberg had 1 pole, 1 victory and 3 podiums.
When Rosberg started to show some nice results in 2010 I totally lost my hype about Schumacher delivering results in Mercedes.

It is hard for dinosaurs to understand that their era is over.

Looks it is working cool so far. No problems what so ever.

I notice joining the track now is faster, much faster. Joining the server is also much faster.

Incredible

On topic:

A cool addition to this multi-player patch or in a future one would be an online ranking in the Hotlap mode for those who are connected to the Internet so our times will be submitted in real time. So instead of having to save the .spr and upload it manually the lap could be automatically saved in the ranking. With that in mind a !top function like airio but implemented in LFS natively on Hotlap mode would be a must feature as well.

Watch WR's - all of them set with cutting T1.

Also watch this. I and Audi TT noticed one bug. http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=1730995#post1730995
Texture should be changed.

Sorry i forgot to tell it earlier. Thanks for responce

Dear LFS racers,

PLEASE STOP SPAMMING AND FLOODING IN THIS THREAD. DON'T WASTE SCAWEN'S TIME!!!!!!!!!

Then remove that big red idiotic phrase. You are asking people not to flood in this thread, who do you think you are to do it yourself? Pathetic.
Just another kid full of cheetos in his chest while he is pretending to be an e-hero.

Quote from Mille Sabords :No need to buy S2 to try it, that's where LFS is better than competition.
Add as many AI cars as you dare (they are CPU intensive, more than online racing) and join the race from the back of the grid. You will easily see what your computer can handle reaching Turn 1...

Another idea

Still, I find mine better.

If you want to know if your PC can handle LFS properly you should buy S2 first (lol for promoting the sim) and then see if it can handle at least 25+ cars showing on the same frame.

I have a i5 750 + 4GB DDR3 at 1600mhz + GTX560ti Hawk and, with everything maxed out, I got around 30-45fps when I got 30 cars on the frame with hi-res texture pack installed.
Don't know without the hi-res packs, maybe 35-50fps tops.

Of course you will not see 30 cars everytime or if you are driving but I prefer to make myself sure if my pc handle lfs decently at any circumstance.

Not that I like drift but the "Drift" animation + the point counter is just awesome. Not mentioning the drift angle.

Very good.

Looking forward to try this.

Quote from DANIEL-CRO :Also having no life helps... A LOT

Well not exactly, I don't spend all my time here. Maybe 2 hours a day average. That was enough for me to improve a lot my pace in the majority of the combos.

Quote from Sueycide_FD :Talent is key imo. I stopped playing lfs for a year awhile back and when i came back during the ironhorse days i all of a sudden started lapping a second or less off wr. Stopped playing again for a couple months and got back into it with the fz2 and i started appearing on the top of airio boards. Now that om back agaon with a whole new wheel. I suck.

In the end it could be either the g series wheels have a higher learning curve than the dfp or i been gone too long.

That's not talent jk

Quote from Zac86 :So I havent played LFS in a long time, booted it up yesterday and got my Logitech G25 out and started doing some hot laps.

I seem to be 3-4 seconds off WR times, is this good considering the WR times are god like drivers or do I still have tons of learning to do?

There are some reasons that can explain why you can't do better lap times:

Lack of experience, not having decent setups, not having the ability to notice you are doing something wrong and how to fix it, consistency and talent.

My suggest is to see the WR times and watch the lines, brake points, etc. That's exactly what I do and in a matter of 6 or 7 months I managed to do times under 1s off the WR in some combos (car+track).
You will never be able to improve substantially your times if you don't put effort on it.

Hello sjoblom,

Thank you for your reply

I agree, both on the edge there but it seemed to me that you closed the door unfairly. On the other hand, that place is an dangerous one to pass and I could avoid it too. No hard feelings of course :-)

See you on track
