For such a small car, that RAC can be made soooo wide
I'm down to a best of 1:18.30, but consistency will play a big part in the race. I don't believe T1 will be a big disaster, these aren't sprint races and we've seen a lot of mature driving so far in the season.
Well, I intend to be somewhere other than hanging off the rear of the pack in this next race. I've done 10 laps and I'm hitting the 1:19s, so with some practice over the weekend I may get down to FZ5 pace ... suspect some RACs may be quicker!
I cannot find a server running FE Green (EDIT: with any drivers on!). It would be good to get some practice tonight or tomorrow night online. I'd really benefit driving amongst other cars to see where on the track I'm comparatively quicker and slower ... well, to see where I'm slow and even slower .
I'm going to sit on the fence on this one. If it is run as a special event, given the comments people are making then the attendance may not be that high. There again, it wasn't in the original schedule and as a unique challenge it doesn't sit naturally alongside the other races.
Would the event be open for non-championship drivers to participate if slots are available?
By the way, where is the poll option for sitting on the fence?
My local telephone exchange has been down since 10pm last night. I'm not able to get an ETA for when it'll be working again. I'll hopefully find out more before I leave work today. Fingers crossed, I'll be connected again for tonight.
The website says KY Oval, not reverse. I suspect that may be the problem ...
EDIT: I have just tried to upload a KY1 hotlap using FOX via the orange 'upload' link above chatterbox on the site, but i cannot upload either - wrong track !!!
EDIT 2: Just checked again, on the website under Calendar, it says Kyoto Oval, on the home page it says Kyoto Oval Rev. Now I'm not at all sure which it is!
EDIT 3: It is KY1R, but you need to use the send hotlap link above the chatterbox
There is a bit of a speed differential off the start for the first race (Aston Historic). The RAC gets off the line quicker, but the FZ50 catches back up by the end of the straight. The RAC then can take the first corner quicker, but no doubt many will be twitchy.
It would therefore be very useful to remind everybody before the race about their responsibilities to make the race clean for all. There will be plenty of opportunities to pass elsewhere; for T1 it is best to merely hold position.
By one shot qualifying, I take it that you can do as many laps as you like in the 15 minutes, but you just can't pit?
At the end of the 15 minutes qualifying, can you finish the lap you are on?
Do the yellow and blue flag rules apply to qualifying as well? If so, it may be difficult to police except by retrospective penalties.
As far as I can remember, last year we had very clean drivers who behaved exceptionally well. So hopefully we can expect the same this year even with the bigger grid.
Is it possible to see who has voted for ' No, not interested'; I'd like to understand why they are voting in a poll which is of no interest to them
If there is a full grid I think that this would be a rather interesting event. I'd need to resolve a fundamental problem though ... how to get cold beers out of the fridge whilst driving
I was wondering which definition of 'provo' these drivers belong to. According to my learned sources, provo has a few meanings:
1. a Dutch or German political agitator, esp. in the 1960s and 1970s.
2. a city in central Utah
3. a member of the Provisional wing of the Irish Republican Army
Assuming number 2 is not the correct meaning, we're either in for a political tirade or something rather more deadly. I suggest all cars are searched prior to each race to ensure we don't have carnage!
I agree with the simplicity of the best time for each team across 3 servers approach. It might not be ideal where a team has a large variance in driver capability, but then with a larger team even averaging the top 3 drivers from each team would not adequately reflect the capabilities of the drivers in a particular event.
However, if this approach is adopted, I am still in favour of regular movement of teams between the divisions to reflect actual race performance. As I mentioned previously, this will help to add interest to those teams who are towards the rear, or near the top, of each division. It'll provide a very real target to aim for, or to avoid if you're towards the rear of a race field. It will also ensure closer racing over the season as the division become more evenly balanced.
Many thanks for your responses. I'm not looking for any retrospective penalties to apply (any penalty for teleporting would have applied for the race in question), but I would like to make sure everybody is aware of these rules and not flaunting them in future events.
Edit: I've seen the results on the MultiCup Twist website. Very prompt, well done. Nice to see one person had read the rules and survived the event without picking up any 'naughty points'!
We got there in the end, and had some good racing. Thank you.
Could we clarify some of the rules before the next race though?
The MRT was not in the list of 12 cars that we were due to be racing during this season, but it was used tonight. I've prepared the 12 cars with setups. Luckily I have used the MRT before and had a setup. Are we restricting the future races to just the 12 announced cars?
I think there was some teleporting during the quali, but no penalties. If so, that unfairly disadvantages those who stuck to the rules.
Other than that, everything went well and it was good to see some close fair racing ... and some kind deeds to rescue those who got stuck
