The hotlap page is not ordered in date order at the moment. If you look at the dates the next event on 25/2 is South City Town Rev, which is the same as the Race Calendar

It's been a very enjoyable season, especially the last two races for me as I've actually found some speed and gained some confidence. Pity the season has to end now

Well done to all the 'fast' guys who've won the races ... especially Hyperactive for his fine win tonight despite his illness (or maybe I misunderstood when he said he was 'feeling hot'!).

And thanks for all the work putting the season together Anton. I think it's all been very worthwhile.

Hopefully see you all on track again soon.

I just tried, and the site seems to be having a break! I can't upload a hotlap either, or post a message.

Quote from Davo :This is a really stupid question but how do I upload hotlaps? I can't see the box anywhere? And when is the hotlap deadline?

You need to login to the website. When you log in, the time until the deadline displays in the top right corner, and there's a link next to it to send the hotlap. Also a link appears on the left navigation pane.

Deadline is 6pm UTC next Friday.

Changing the subject somewhat (but still related to race 9), I haven't received the password yet. I'm not usually online so early on a Tuesday, so maybe it just gets sent a little later?

Quote from Madman_CZ :Time table 4 for me, as much as I like GPL i don't see a point of racing it just as a practise and at a LFS meet. Should be a full LFS day!

My thoughts also.

That looks like a nicely balanced schedule of races. Let's hope we see lots of close racing ... I'm sure we will.

Quote from nihil :Oh my days... This sounds so serious - I am so going to be last....

I had my 'thinking cap' on, sorry to sound so serious . I'm not a fast driver as I'm sure you'll soon find out, but I don't enjoy the racing unless I am at least lapping consistently. That's what I mean by preparation.

It's no longer 50:50

I tried GPL a long time ago, didn't get on with it, and haven't touched it since. I take the point that Sim drivers shouldn't have too much difficulty getting used to another Sim (given a half-decent setup), and I would make the effort if necessary.

However, for me it's a risk - I know about LFS racing and getting prepared for an event. I know nothing about racing in GPL, and would prefer to stick with what I know rather than spending a lot of time getting prepared for a single event, and then probably never touching GPL again. I have enough difficulty finding enough time for LFS, let alone trying to drive another Sim on top.

Anyhow, that's my opinion

I calculated that the race pace for the LX4s would be around 3:32 / 3:33, based on taking a peek at filur's best online lap of 3:34 something. I only got down to 3:36 something in practice, and thought that might be okay to cling onto the coat-tails of the main bunch. Ooops!

I'm not sure if it was my setup or my lines, but I lost most of my time in that middle sector.

I had a worry during the middle of the race when Pow found some pace, lapping some 1 sec a lap quicker than me. Then Tonix did a pitstop (and drive-through penalty), and the pressure was on to try to retain 9th place over the last 10 laps. Tonix caught me on lap 21, and sped off into the distance, but thankfully I maintained a gap between myself and Pow.

Pity about all the disconnects. I saw the out of stash message and really did hope we weren't going to see a repeat of last week ... both for the sake of anybody disconnected, and because I didn't really fancy another long race on this circuit!

Blackwood next. Let's hope it's a good one.

I think a fixed setup would please most people and reduce driver change times to a minimum. As long as we have plenty of time before the event to practice with the setup and combo, there shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Perhaps we could trial 2 or 3 setups in the next few weeks, and have a poll to select the setup that we use during the event?

I had a very enjoyable race today ... I'm at least somewhere near race pace around this circuit

I had about 12 laps trying to keep filur behind me, but he made a good pass after I made a bad line through the final chicane. Then spent the next 13 laps trying to catch him. Makes a change for me to be fighting for position, and I enjoyed it ... I'm looking forward to a repeat race.

It's good for me.

I'll be travelling from near Stanstead, if anyone wants to share a lift.

Quote from filur :+1

I agree, keep the wind as scheduled. It shouldn't be so much of a problem if we practiced some more in the conditions that are scheduled for the race. I was caught out at the last race because I wasn't used to adjusting to the windy conditions. A bit more practice specifically aimed at learning how to drive with the wind in different directions and it shoudn't be too difficult to adapt to the wind in the race.

A disappointing race for me. I was confident before the race that I could be racing further up the field, as I'd raced on this circuit a few times before and felt confident I knew how to push hard and consistently. But ...

quali - I didn't manage to warm my tyres up enough (a skill I really should learn), and then took it too steady during the hotlap. I was slowest to qualify, apart from Tristan who made a boo boo on his lap.

race - Started well for me, as I hung back a little during the first lap and cruised past all those who had their moments. I got up to 9th, which I was quite chuffed about. But then the mistakes crept in, and I lost 4 places in two separate minor wheels on grass moments, but they slowed me enough to make it easy for the following racers to pass. I finished in 12th only because of the disconnect.

I am downbeat because my pace was just not fast enough. In hindsight I didn't work out how to maximise my speed through some of the corners in the windy conditions.

I'm glad the next race is a few weeks away. It'll give me a chance to get motivated again, and practice, practice and practice some more. Hopefully I'll surprise a few people in the next race ...

oh no! I thought this was a 18:00 GMT race start.

Unfortunately AtomAnt (King of the Wild Frontier!) I've got the last round of the CRC's Challenge Cup starting at 20:00 on Sunday. So unless someone promises to beat the WR by 2 secs a lap (for 60 laps), we'll not be finishing in time .

Sorry, looks like I may need to miss this one.

I do not have a problem with the 19th, and would prefer to be racing if all teams can be present.

@Ant

As I was driving down the finishing straight, I saw a few instances of lag times above invisible cars, just like you see when someone else is about to disconnect, then I got kicked out along with most others. There wasn't any out of stash space message, which I have seen previously on the server. We had that message before the server crash in the first race.

Lost my connection with the finishing line in sight. More than happy to have my points as at the time of lost connection .

I thought that I had a good start today, gained one place early on, then lost a place to Gabbo. Managed to stay reasonably close to Gabbo for a few laps, then he decided to take a trip into the kitty litter. Grabbed my chance, tried to put as much distance between myself and Gabbo, and hoped that he would make another mistake in trying to close the gap. My plan didn't work . He caught me before too long, but I did enjoy a few laps fending him off. Once he got past though I could see that I'd been holding him up, as a gap quickly grew. That was it really, then I just circulated, again, and again!

Mind you, I did a good impersonation of a Super Aguri from about lap 18, getting lapped by quite a few drivers. But I was expecting that given the performance advantage of the LX6 on this circuit. Indeed, my fuel calculations were based on only doing 29 laps .

Thanks for organising again Axus. It was enjoyable practicing and racing here. Hopefully you'll be able to join us again in the next race, in a racing capacity.

Well, that was a tough race, even for me and my rather slow speed today. Took a few laps to get my braking points sorted, which lost me the few places that I'd picked up when scything through that first lap mess.

I was then on a consistency drive. I was in 16th place and couldn't make any headway on 15th. I was therefore driving to finish as near to the racers in front so that I could pick up a place should anybody fall off the track. Luckily for me (but not Lars!), that happened, and I got that 15th spot, giving me another valuable point for the team .

Towards the end the leaders were fast approaching. Thankfully this slowed the driver behind me as they overtook him, so I had the luxury of being able to pull over to let everybody through without risking getting caught myself.

All in all an enjoyable race, but I hope it's more tranquil next week ...

I think full points should be awarded. Most of the race had run ... and I don't want my 1 point contribution to my team devalued

Quote from Hyperactive :But I didn't vote yet, I'll ask my team mate first.

I voted yes because my team mate told me to .

Well, maybe that's not quite true ... I don't mind whichever car I drive, and as it's a team-event predominantly I do not have a problem with teams switching their drivers. It's going to happen anyway where teams have a third driver.

Quote from Hyperactive :At the end of the season, the points in both classes and in total are calculated = 3 championships (LX4, LX6 and both merged).

Sounds like the perfect format to me. Allows the 3rd driver to be used without the team losing points in the individual championships.
