Quote from Spudster :ever used a dictionary?

As long as you can understand people, thats OK ! The Lfs language is english, and is a foreign language for most of the racers.

I have no troubles understanding, whar he`s saying. That`s the important part

Quote from mrodgers :Speaking of tire pressures, I'll post in this thread instead of starting a new one since the above was answered now.

I am having a problem with tire temperatures. I'm hoping someone could help. As far as I know, pressures really affect temperatures and increasing press. will allow cooler temps. I have a problem with hot rear tires at alot of different tracks using the FZR. I have been messing with pressures as well as with camber to get the temps down and more even across the tread. Is there another setup setting to play with that affects temperatures?

For example, at Westhill, I just blasted my PB down last night by over a second messing about with the suspension. But, I can't stay consistant as my rears get hot and the back end starts sliding around (I'm already oversteering with the set some). I think my rear pressures were around 31 psi (don't know the other units) and cambers I clicked down one from -0.6 to -0.5. If I mess any more, then I'll end up with way too much pressure and the center will get hotter than the rest. I'm creaping up into the 100-105 C range on temps BTW. I can run like that if I tightened up the back, so when they are heated up, I have the slight oversteer I want. But that isn't the solution I'm looking for.

Is there anything else to mess with that wouldn't mess up the suspension much? I really like how the car handles and it's really quick, for me anyways. I just need to get the temps to stay cooler for longer than 2 laps. I don't want to switch to R3's as I can run R2's for 20 some laps at other places. I have temp problems at Kyoto tracks as well. Aston I seem to be able to run forever on R2's.

I am slowly learning the setup stuff to where I can take a decent set and change it for my driving. I still can't build a set from scratch though.

Thanks for any help that may arise here.

Maby it is your raceline, which differs from lap to lap. I have driven setups on many tracks, which super heated my tyres in 2 or three laps. The same set, the really good drivers could take 15 - 20 laps without big damages.

So, be very observant with your line and brake points.

I can`t see the problems, asking for a setup. I seldom do that, because people is very kind to offer me one, when they notice your slowness or problems driving the car, on the combo.

Usually I ask once, for a set, if I really need one, and it is very seldom, I dont get a set this way. NEVER EVER BEG !!! NEVER !!!

One of the other answers, in this thread, says : combine two or more sets. That I have been doing for years now and it is a good advice.

When I bought the license for S1, long time ago, I spend a lot of time racing the demo guys. I was used to that and didn`t know all the other guys. There was many "really good" guys, out there, so I had to vote "yes i welcome ..."

Quote from Bob Smith :Should i have max. Rpm`s at the end of the longest straight - Yes

How do I find the final gear ratio for the Mrt ? I know it is something with the radius of the wheels, or am I wrong here ?

...it's in the setup, under "final drive" (well, when you're using English anyway)
No need to worry about maths, either use trial and error, or use GRC to calculate it for you (assuming you know the top speed you reach on the oval).

I like math !

But I`ll go back to test`n`try

Quote from Bob Smith :Should be easy peasy, don't even need my little program to help you there. Just adjust the final drive ratio so that at the end of the fastest straight you are at peak power rpm (about 7800 IIRC?).

Alternatively, you could adjust it so that fifth gear tops out there, and make 6th a little taller and use it for slipstreaming.

I have a little problem with the technical english words. I`m not sure that I understand what you are saying.

Should i have max. Rpm`s at the end of the longest straight - Which is about 7.800 rpm.

How do I find the final gear ratio for the Mrt ? I know it is something with the radius of the wheels, or am I wrong here ?

But thanks for the serious reply :-)

Quote from Matrixi :MRT + oval = sleep

I can`t agree with that. racing is NOT about the speed, as many like to tell us. Racing is door to door in af uf1000 on a short track, and the thrill of trying to gain the last fraction of a second, on the oval. So I enjoy driving there, all by myself, and I`m not bored at all !

Quote from AndroidXP :MRT. On oval.

Oval nutcases never cease to amaze me.

I drive the uf1000 on the oval, too. I find it exciting to try to do my best in every car, there !

I sometimes like to try to improve my hotlaps times, in all the cars - Often one must do hard work, just to gain a 1/100 of a second. I LIKE IT !!
Gearing Mrt on oval.

I have troubles finding the rigth gearing on this track. Yes - I have this tool, you can download and adjust the gear ratios. (Gear ratio calculator)

I have tried the WR set on the oval, and its really much much better, than anything I can make myself - Regarding torque at top speed.

Any hints will be welcomed, sets too - But an explanation would be nice :-)

They could have put a hour count in, instead.

This is a little annoying

Definately I will try out the RAc as the first car. Then the fz50.
Then I can tell if things improved !!!

3 months after my first post.

I have driven the rac some times. also on AsClub, where i expected death in the first corner. Surprisingly this never happened, and I drove a very nice low time there.

My new set is for rigth hand corners, so to speak, and it is very precise in the steering. But still - Be very very carefull on the speeder . VERY !!

I will certainly invest more time in the rac, when the new patch appears.

I own such a steering wheel. My brother uses it and he thinks its very capable. (Gubbe)

Its like a momo, in handling, but doesnt have the momo`s finish, and so.

Bmw or no Bmw !? That`s the question.

Personally, i don`t care so much for the fast open wheelers, I hoped for some Lemans prototypes ! BUT !!

Really - That Bmw/Sauber looks very tempting. And I assure you. That car will be my first choice tomorrow. Then the 2 new Aston designs have to wait.

This shows us, that the Lfs developers works in mysterious ways ! I had never ever dreamt of getting a real F1 car in the patch. So even if I`m not the typical F1 man, then this car stands "as a symbol" for Lfs after the pacth.

This also shows us, that we can never really know what to expect from the devs. It`s thrilling to imagine what the devs will have for us, in S3.

But for the near future, one have to relearn most of the cars + one brand new Formula 1 model 2006. My hopes are high, for this patch and for the future of LFS !!

Definately the best rac set I`ve ever tried.
BUT (allways a but!)

The car is deadly in the long soft turns on As Nat.
The first, just after the straigth, it handles OK. The next. passing the cadet pits, is very deadly - Suddenly the rear passes you, and you are gone ??

Ok - You can prevent it from happen, if you lift the foot from the speeder at the rigth place - But ??

The last very deadly point on As Nat is at the entrance to the hairpin. (3 -400m before) The front starts bumping and the rear comes to you.

This will NEVER, as for the fz5, be a car i will drive - Unless the programmers do some serious work on them, in the final version of s2.

Such cars would kill ppl in the real life.

But I have driven som As tracks in this set - Just because I hate the Rac, and I like pain (LOOOOL- not)
