Grandpas? I'm 24 hardly a grandpa, not sure why you felt the need to attack me personally.
I have been playing this game for 10 years, I don't play at the moment but that doesn't mean that I wont be back. For me the problem isn't the game or the lack of development or any significant changes. The problem is that right now I cannot go onto the game and find a server where there are a decent amount of people for me to have a decent race with.
I might find maybe 1 or 2 people that I can race but nothing like it used to be. Popularity is a big issue for me because if I can't get a decent race then what am I playing for, that's the fun factor completely gone for me really. Nothing wrong with the game, I have tried Westhill and it's good, I haven't complained about the game or development my only quarrel is that the popularity has fallen because of other people's perception of these issues.
I pop back onto the forums every now and then to catch up, read up on development notes etc because I love the game and I haven't had the feeling that I had with this game ever since. One day I will come back and I will see that popularity is back because of some major update (be it tyre physics, track updates or graphical updates) and I can again do what I love doing with this game. Nothing will stop me with that.
I absolutely love this game, first racing sim I've played since LFS that I've actually come to like and will probably play for a prolonged time. Had some really great races online on Oulton Park last night with Ginettas, 16 people within 2 seconds of fastest lap.
I think it's a bit disappointing really, when I was playing hardcore from like 2004-2007 I finally left because I had to go to uni and had no setup there.
When I came back after 3 years basically nothing had changed, there were a few minor updates but nothing that really shouted to me to get back into it. Even now, I mainly play Asetto Corsa, Project Cars or iRacing because I feel that they are so far ahead now as an all round game. Still not as good as LFS in terms of physics or gameplay but what is physics without people to race against.
However, LFS was my first love and only Project Cars is coming close to the kind of racing that we used to have back in 2004/2005, the races and leagues that we had back then were immense loved every second. If there was some sort of big update I would definitely come back but I fear that for most people there needs to be some sort of massive graphical update now to lure people back.
I know that the game isn't about graphics and it's about the racing but it's hard to even find a race these days there's no one online racing. It's just a bunch of people attempting to drift...
Hey guys, I haven't played for a long time. Started playing over 10 years ago, thought I'd come back and see what was going on.
Might get back into LFS have been missing playing on sims, all this new Gran Turismo crap is awful, terrible races and mainly just full of kids trying to crash into you. Haven't really been playing many games for the past few years, mainly working hard and getting my life sorted.
Should be buying a new wheel soon so will see you out there
Well I'm not new at all, I was playing LFS in Alpha but haven't played the game in over 5 years now, thought I would pop by and say hi. I expected some sort of development of the game and was quite looking forward to seeing what had progressed, slightly disappointed to see that not much has happened.
Used to run a team with a bunch of people and went to the karting meet in 2005 and met all the devs back then...
Either way, just ordered myself a new wheel and I'll be seeing you all on the track again
I came to the kating meet in 2005 and it was great fun indeed, so I'd love to come this year as I'm getting back into LFS but I think it might be a little far for me but I'l going to look into it anyway.
Thanks guys, it's just getting started but we already have quite a large amount of content so it might be a valuable resource for tutorials and product reviews for you. We're going to start advertising it properly in the new year so this is sort of just like a trial run to iron out any bugs or structural issues.
I just wanted to make you guys aware of a new project that I am involved in. It's basically a photography forum based in the UK but international members are also welcome
It aims to help with the development of people's photography skills in the UK and provide a valuable resource of all things relating to the subject. Here are some of the features:
User galleries with unlimited upload space
Camera equipment reviews
E-Zine in design stages
The site is just getting started at the moment so there aren't very many members but we're all committed to making sure that it works so it would be nice to see a few of you over there sharing some of your photos.
Well I went along to Brands Hatch today to see the WTCC qualification for Sunday's race. I can't go on sunday so I thought I'd check out the saturday instead.
I got there about 9:30 just after the first practice session had started and started snapping. This is my first time shooting motorsport so I'm looking to improve really. I don't think I have the best equipment for the job though :P
