I've done the 355/SS experience at Thruxton. I'd recommend doing the single-seater, and wet weather is a bonus Having said that the high gear restriction is frustrating, and the single seaters are rev-limited. Next time I'm going to go for something where they let you push the car harder and for longer (understandably more expensive):

Still I thoroughly enjoyed Thruxton and would recommend it. The instructors are great too.

The red bits on my old wingman wheel did melt a bit. The same happened with the blue leather bits in my Fiesta Zetec S though as well, possibly due to death grippage.

PS. Actually my arms didn't hurt, but over 15mins of racing and I was sweating all over the place... Had to wear underwear only in league races.

Quote from danowat :I am pulling at the wheel so hard I almost pull the damn thing off the desk.

You should push . You get a more sensitive feel by pushing with the left hand when turning right and vice versa. Same thing with being relaxed. Doesn't help me drive quick though

Having said that the few times I've been karting I gripped so hard I couldn't hold my pint steady afterwards!

On the subject of nostalgia, ScHiZ has had that avatar for ever!

I remember a racer who was a bit of a wildcard recording himself singing Buddy Holly by Weezer, who was that?

What was this? I remember the name, wasn't he always complaining that LFS had no skidmarks? Did we all just start replying to his forum posts with

I dunno but I laughed when I saw that image!

RudiTurbo becoming the first ever person to go green in the 100% hotlaps chart. Was it him? My memory's not what it used to be. :fluffy:

Also swear words in the forum being replaced with this flower: [etals:]

Fordie I forgot about tag team racing (edit: Chaos mentioned it first) Reminds me as well, the massive arguments about bump drafting.

Quote from Hyperactive :So this file cannot be updated by LFS itself (using autoupdate)?

Presumably it can and will be, but Scawen has said some people have deleted it, so the autoupdate will fail for them.

Looks like the old pre-select system was kind of half-way there after all!

Now we all need force-feedback shifters

Quote from Taavi(EST) :What i actually would like to see is a quick FOV changing button, so that you press a button and the FOV changes to, say 110 degrees, and when you release it, it goes back to your previous FOV (~80 in my case).

I'd like to try this to see what it's like, interesting suggestion

I agree 100% with dungbeetle. Sometimes you have to allow for the fact that the simulator isn't real-life. Ideally we'd all have triplehead/projector setups and 90 degrees FOV but that's not going to happen, so we need a way of seeing whether there's a car next to us.

I'd argue that this is more realistic, unless LFS is meant to simulate driving with your head bolted to the seat and the sides of your visor taped over.
G25 Brake Pedal Replacement

I've done a search for this and can't find anything. Does noone make a simple replacement for the G25 brake pedal to make it stick out to the right more, for heel-toe? The pedals are bolted on so it would be an easy replacement.

The view restriction is a difficult one.

To mimic real-life you need a good field-of-view and a good sound setup so you can hear where the other car is. A lot of people can't do that.

I've had a little go in a single-seater as Tristan knows You are definitely aware of cars by your side in your peripheral vision and through the sound they make, more so than in patch X30 with a single monitor.

That said, I'm still joining

I've over-heated the clutch in a road car doing a couple of full speed starts, during my younger less responsible days

Basically you could drive normally but try to pull off quick and it just slips. Oh and the smell is not good!

I've never liked the name Live for Speed. As someone mentioned in this thread everyone thinks I mean Need for Speed when they ask about it. I think it's become an unnecessary hurdle when trying to get new people involved.

I'm up for helping, but I don't think I'll have anything ready for this season, just too busy at work at the moment. I'll keep in touch about it though Dan.
