I just have to add my 2 cents here... Someone stated that its easy to use the search function to get most of the answers to most of the questions on this fora... and while that is true, the newb must first and foremost know that there is a search function (sure, most foras have it, but not all are used to this) and then learn how to use it before actually getting any good use out of it... and thus actually pointing them in the direction of the search is a good way to start instead of ignoring them... or flaming them...
Those are sensible setups... As in no overdamping, no locked diffs and modest rollbar strengths. Look at them as a ground to build upon rather then a finished set... If you look at the general setup of the cars you will see that not much has changed apart from gearing, some camberchanges and rollbars.
And as i can reach times within benchmarks with these sets i rather think they are raceable, and not casual as u say.
This didn't happen in LFS but it applies here nonetheless.
I was having a real fight for first place in a league-race, running the inside line and having about half a car-length of lead coming up to a hard righthand corner when my cat pulled the USB-cable out of the socket... Chaos ensued as u may have guessed
As both me and my combatant was on Vent at the moment he heard me cursing at my cat and so he actually found it in his heart to forgive me...
Just got to love those furry things tho just remember to use the USB-sockets on the top of the computer instead of those on the front...
So far i've seen a lot of (for me) alien setups so i thought i'd sit down and try to do some "balanced" (as in not too much over or understeer) setups for the street cars on BL1. Mind that i have followed some of the discussions here on the fora regarding locked diffs and overdamping and such and tried to stay away from it while making (almost) competitive setups
Try them or not... your choice
Download, dissect or destroy them at your pleasure
Moar may be coming for other tracks soon, but these are for BL1

Reason : forgot some cars... :|
I would recommend a Logitech Driving Force Pro eller Driving Force GT instead of one of those. Or look for a MOMO Force... Check on Blocket.se for a used one if you're out for a cheap option... those two wheels you linked to will not give you any driving satisfaction what so ever.
(i've tested both of those u linked to, BTW)

Reason : clarification
Your only bottleneck for the moment is the GFX (graphics card)... I have a similar PC at home and the difference is the my CPU is !!slower!! (2.4 GHz P4 ) but i have an old 7600 gt and im running 30 - 40 FPS w average graphics... So if you're going for a cheap upgrade just to run the game... get a dedicated GFX... otherwise... go all the way
Apart from the evident "fun factor" its also a good way of checking if your setup is any good I figured that if i could get a AI close to (within 1 sec of) and sometimes spot on the "Benchmark" times, its usually a good setup
Well, matijapkc... The blinds on the right side of the car and on the top of the car fades forward... but on the left side of the car they fade backwards... so i'd say that even if they're lined up they look weird...
My thoughts are the same here... Its easier to pass people in the pits and i dont want to spend an eternity waiting for the car to be filled up so i think i will go with a "full" tank this time around... just to see if it makes any difference...
Ok, this goes under "other stuff" in the topic description...
I did an online race last week in which i didn't do that good, but not that bad either. One thing that has bothered me tho, is wether or not it is good to go for a full tank (as in, enough to last the entire race) from the getgo and just do a pitstop to change the tyres (which we have to do) or to go for a, say half tank (to last half the race) and fill the tank at the pitstop too.
I know that the added weight will give me slower laptimes at first, but at the same time, filling up the tank takes a while too... which one is preferred?
