You finally did a decent edit, but nobody appreciates it, mostly because people only like to talk about edits where they can find a lot of mistakes.
Good job, I like it overall, good edit for a beginner.
Sorry, I've got no time and willingness at the moment to read all the posts in this thread, but I've read the first post and I like the idea of this site. I think it would be a nice addition to this community and perhaps, other gaming communities also. I am definitely looking forward for the site and if I get my personal things a bit more organised in the next few months, I might be able to help you guys with some stuff perhaps.
Oops, I mixed them all up. I meant that you need to have a steady hand for Lasso tool, sorry.
So, that changes a lot from what I said before. I don't use Lasso tool, I meant Polygonal and Magnetic Lasso tool.
5tag - And about Lasso tool - that is the point, it won't be able to select all parts properly. First I take Magnetic Lasso tool and use 2-3 seconds to select quickly around the car (for ex.) so that it would select at least most of it. Then I use Polygonal tool just to fix the places it selected badly. This way you save some time, you don't have to go and select the whole object by Polygonal tool, especially if it is not a small object (for ex. car), but if it is a small object, then again there is no point wasting time with Magnetic Lasso tool.
P.S. I fixed my previous posts, so people wouldn't get confused if the information is useful for anyone.
No it won't, at least not big enough jaggy lines for you to notice. I have always used magnetic lasso tool and polygonal lasso tool and never had a problem. You just gotta take your time, obviously by doing it irresponsibly it will look like crap and not smooth. When you get used to it, it is a simple and fast way to do it. Also, with pentool it takes longer time.
And for lasso tool you need steady hand. That is not for me.
Well, it can also be done with one picture, but for beginners 2 pictures is definitely easier I think it is a better way also.
And for the colors, here is one I made some time ago, it is in Latvian, but maybe the pictures will help you understand something: http://lfslatvia.lv/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=349
This is a simple one, but maybe you can use some steps (not all) from this tutorial with some other tutorial to make something nice.
And what I have basically been doing is that I have seen and been using a lot of different color tutorials and after a while you just start to experiment combining them all together, it takes time, but you will be able to do it if you keep trying. One tutorial is not enough, you will need a few of them just to get the experimenting started.
Anyway, you can actually find quite many tutorials at the lfsdrift.net site I gave you, there are also threads with links to different tutorials on other site etc.
Your car selection is done badly, you should start fixing that problem in order to get a better result from the blur effect.
I would advice you to take one picture with the car, then without changing your camera position take another picture in the same spot without the car. So, then you would have an image with the car on it and just a plain background without the car. Then just layer-cut the car neatly and paste it on top of the layers of the plain blackground image. The rest should be obvious. Now the blur won't be affecting any parts of your cars and will look neatly. Of course, you can add some blur at some parts of the cars, it all depends on what you are trying to get in the end.
Also, check tutorials on the internet, there are so many tutorials that will help you to get started editing pictures. Here are some related with LFS: http://www.lfsdrift.net/tutorials/, but you can also check other tutorials unrelated to this game to learn how to add nice colors to pictures and so on. If you need any help, you can always ask.
I sent you a message at FB already, but still, like I said, video is awesome. Reminded me of all the best feelings from those awesome league races that I used to have and actually made me want to play LFS. I think I'll definitely be back to LFS some day, mostly because of your videos, even if it takes a long time. Keep up the great work!
zenkiukas, it is lame to vote for yourself and it is also against the rules just so you know.
Anyway, winner is still zenkiukas. Also, I won't be continuing this competition anymore any time soon, probably, due to the lack of activity and it is pretty much just waste of time for me, but if anyone is interested in running it, have a go.
*You have one vote that you can use.
*You can vote for anyone, but not yourself. (The votes where people vote for themselves will not be counted, but deleted at the end of the voting.)
*Getting more votes in an unfair way (asking others to vote four your picture etc.) is NOT allowed. (If I find out, you won't be able to participate in the competition anymore for some time and also your image will be deleted from the voting.)
The winner will be the person with the most votes.
Voting Closes at 19:00 UTC on Tuesday 1st, May 2012.
