Seldom play these days, no longer holds my interest. Forums gone stale, rather hotlap on NKP. I think LFS has had a great run but its days are nearing an end. That's a bit sad but I'd rather play on other race sims now.
The 3 mile straight on le mans reminds me of the section of the M1 I have to drive every week to work - oh wait, thats not LFS is it, maybe its real life-----eek!
Well.....a bit reactionary when all that is really needed is clearer instructions about TURNING OFF THE GODDAM USELESS user acount control, then it stops all those annoying pop ups when proggy updates are trying to install themselves. it's annoying but there's plenty other things in life that annoy me far more...
Why? What would that achieve? Not in terms of your own satisfaction but in the terms of running the forum and community more smoothly? Sometimes you just have to trust, as a member of the community, that wrong things are dealt with without your seeing everything going on behind the scenes. Too many cooks and all that.
So many, many years of paranoia and political propaganda thrust down the throats of US citizens by its so-called politicians its no real surprise they don't have access to a bigger, more balanced picture of the world.
LOL, 70's ; Phil Collins - have you ever heard of Genesis? Bloody kids. You may find they were actually quite big in the 70's and Phil Collins used to drum for them.
Tell you what, don't stand over the smouldering red strands inhaling deeply. Is this an occupational hazard you are exposed to or some late night pastime, out of interest?
who cares? Does it actually make any real difference if you were driving round an approximation of an F1 circuit or one of the lfs circuits? Does it make that much difference if the car shape does not exactly resemble that of a stock production car or race saloon? I think the majority of LFS users would not really care that much, it makes no difference to the on-line racing or immersion factor.
There's a much easier way to sway parents. Tell them it's something you really want and are prepared to work a little extra round the house and garden to help fund it.
This is the wierd thing - if I move the movie (m4v format) onto a USB memory stick and run it from there, quicktime plays it no problem. So it must be something to do with the program not getting the data off the hard drive properly or fast enough.
What on earth is going on there?
Well the Quicktime info solved the ActiveX problem with quicktime, but sadly it has not helped the ability to playback m4v movies downloaded thru iTunes - whether in Quicktime or within iTunes the videos freeze and cause a general seizing up of the desktop.
OK, shall we start again?
Let's assume that since i only installed quicktime yesterday evening from the apple site it is the current, newest 7.3.1 version.
Now let's go back to my first post.
Whenever I try to run Quicktime on its own outside of iTunes it says "Could not load or find the missing ActiveX control" and exits.
Anyone know if there is a solution yet for getting videos within iTunes to run properly on Vista (32 home premium)? At the moment running a music vid or movie clip within itunes causes the whole system to clog up and sometimes I have to pull the plug and restart.
How do you figure that one out? ref back to my opening post:
Whenever I try to run Quicktime on its own outside of iTunes it says "Could not load or find the missing ActiveX control" and exits.
You saying this has nothing to do with quicktime?
The latest quicktime I download from their web page last nigyht, is that likely to be an older version than the 7.3?
I don't think so.
no error log viewable. Vista and mac software have never got on well - it took a while for apple to take their bugs out of quicktime and itunes to run at all on vista. evidently there are still stability issues that my machine have picked up on.

Please don't tell me to use some other software to watch videos on - I want to integrate with iTunes and the iPod video functionality, hence the question. Whenever I try to run Quicktime on its own outside of iTunes it says "Could not load or find the missing ActiveX control" and exits.
Well thanks for the advice P5ych0, now all the games are buggered, will not start and cause the graphics on screen to go into res meltdown.
I've posted you your "Muppet of the Week" badge to you. It should be there as soon as it arrives. Wear it with pride.
Once I buggered up the portal screen res i didn't want to risk losing it in HL2 episode 2 as well.
I'll try deleting the Portal folder, then if all else fails, I'll try and screw up HL2 as well.
If it all goes wrong I'll come round and sit on your doorstep.
