BL3 is actually smaller, so we are out of luck. i went for chalk lines because full on barriers everywhere would have wrecked the look of it in my opinion. the real track is on an open airfield so i tried to do the same.
mate, there are plenty of things which are more wrong than the width of that straight
the track had to be seriously resized to suit the limited autox area. where possible i have tried to keep the corners as a fairly accurate representation of the real ones.. but the scale (and length) of the track changed so much.
I could have made the start straight wider, but then the section between the first corner and chicago would have been much shorter. it's also worth noting, the second time you come through chicago (past the tyre bundle, on tv) you are driving back onto the main runway again - it should be straight and lining up with the runway going down to the hammerhead, but you'll notice i put a kink in it. because if i made it straight that corner would barely be a corner at all. sorry if it's confusing, there were just many things to consider, that's all
GTR2 is a simulator.. is it possible to turn damage off in that? Yes!
I'm simply suggesting LFS becomes more customisable and accessible! Calm down
You can indeed have very close racing now, and I didn't deny that. Of course people do cope with the curve, if someone is determined to learn LFS they will of course be able to do it. I just suggest that if these options were available, it would open the game up to even more people - and at the same time have very little effect on those who are already here. The end result would probably be a handful of servers on your server list with a few of the above realism settings disabled. You could probably filter these out if you like too
In a business sense, it would make more sense to market your game to the widest group of people possible. If making the game more customisable in this regard it means that more people can pick up your game and learn it, I believe it would be a good move.
Hey guys, just have an idea I'd like to bounce off everyone.
What would be wrong with having server side options for the following?
Body + suspension damage on/off
Tyre wear on/off
Clutch wear on/off
Fuel usage on/off
Before you flame, keep in mind if these were implemented as server options, the majority of servers would probably leave them enabled for realism. But surely having these all as options would bring more things to more people?
It may seem funny, but more recently I am missing the simplicity of LFS S1 - my friends and I used to have so many intense and awesome races lap after lap, purely because it was so simple with less variables and this kept the racing close. It was not uncommon to have 50 lap endurance races that had a battle for the lead going on from start to finish!
Is it realistic to have all of the above options turned off? No it isn't. Would it hurt LFS to include these options? I don't believe it would. The sim purists would still have a huge amount of servers with everything enabled, and those who are looking for something different would have a few servers to choose from with one or more of these turned off.
Just my opinion, I'd appreciate everyone elses opinion given with the same respect
although all the links were working fine, I have updated them all to link directly to the true location on the server, rather than using a domain forwarder. this perhaps was causing some troubles for people before.
probably not very helpful, but increase the screen resolution you run LFS with if you can. in LFS going lock to lock with the steering wheel is the same as going from far left to far right in windows. making the resolution higher will mean the mouse has further to travel, hence reducing sensitivity..
if you cant make the res higher due to your monitor or frame rates... set windows to the same resolution you play LFS at, then adjust the mouse speed in windows control panel, testing how far you have to move it to go all the way left and all the way right on the screen.
set windows screen res back to whatever it was and launch LFS
i haven't driven the layout, but just curious - why did you choose to restrict the width of the track in those 2 places up the top of the screenshot? i think it would flow much nicer with those objects removed
