Uh. not any car have chase car view IRL. Or a FOV-setting. or loads of things that are in this lovely little game. lets remove that too? (answer: ofc we should not remove the horn of gtr cars.. just dont use it.)
This is like the *total* removal of rearview in GTR cars - even in custom view! :insane: :mad: Make it a server setting if its so damn important. Oh, wait - there is one already called FCV! Implement support for horn and rear view in it! And while we're at it, ignition too?
Is lfsw down? skins that are uploaded there (i tripple checked, so the webpage does work) cant be downloaded by ithers, with error message: "Your car's skin was not found at www.lfsworld.net". I dont use any patch test and afaik neither does the host.
Really, LFS is going realsim? So we cars will get real shafts and radiators that can break, adsjustable rearview mirrors, side views mirrors with the real views (now you can see a cone immediate behind your big FXR car in your sideview!), crashing will be painful and costly, rain will be implemented, turning indicators wont go off while changing view, windows will break... ? that great... but we wont be able to change FOV, see others in real time, use chaseview or even customview?

turn that around, why wouldnt custom view be able to look back? its not real as it is now to have wheels only or position the eye whereever you want toward what direction you want - its just the temporary thing thats gone....
Comparing to realism to this point is always going to be akward. Examples: In race cars (or actually any cars) in real life you cant see something similiar to custom view, chase view or tv view, at least not while its happening. We would be able to view better than what our monitors gives us, have better audio, better physics when you go into a barrier, crashes would be more realistic (no shafts can brake), no virtual mirrors or virtual gauges would be possible ofc, etc, etc, etc. And etc.
If forced realism is the point behind not being able to look back in race cars then the all views except incar should taken away aswell. Im just asking for it in custom view, then servers can use forced cockpit view if they want forced realism instead of racing.
Scawen, Dont take me wrong about me and this game, we're lovers. I really appreciate it and the time and effort you dedicate on this while i hope it continues without you overworking yourself. But this really should be changed!
This was done in X33 last night. Dunno if X35 fixed it, but cant test now since im away from home and on laptop.
Tried out to have 20ish AI drivers with BF1 on KY oval, 15 laps with mandatory pitstop. Found several bugs in their behaviour, the first two being quite serious:
* All but one driver got penalties due breaking to late on their pit entry.
* At least one driver got to a pit that was already taken, pushing the first driver out. The second driver's pit was finished earlier and after that he kept pushing the first driver until he too was done with his pit.
* One driver that had a smashed front wheel kept doing donuts on grass (since turning the other way didnt help). IRL driver maybe would tried to use reverse some.
* On the more advanced driving, the driver that were immediately behind another kept keeping max gas and then releaseing it all, in intervalls, to not drive into the driver ahead (due to slip streaming).
IRL drivers would probably try more of the times to drive by, specially in the corners.
pleasepleaseplease let us be able to look backwards in all cars whilst using custom view?
Edit: Managed to do a test on my lap anyways (3fps while all in view, okayish ), with RACE_S setup though. The new path in x35 helps a lot, but not totally. A few (5-7 drivers maybe) managed to get a penalty. But now all managed to clear it by another pitstop at least (in x33 non did since they never managed to get speed down). The rest of the issues are still there though.

The personal taste is the best, because its personal!
About that reality: it would neither be possible to have a chase view, top down view, nor TV-view while racing, neither possible spectate others in real time. Virtual gauges and mirrors are ofc also a close to impossible thing to have... If i hade my own GTR car i'd also decide *myself* whether i'd had a H-shift or sequential. Also in IRL we feel feel g-forces in corners, brakes etc aswell as we got a wider look/perspective than what we get from our monitors. And we die if we crash har enough.
Its impossible to have it like IRL without being IRL. Not being able to look back in custom view is just stupid, in cruise servers it quite needed by cops to look around easily.
Personally i'd *REALLY* like some kind of 'real sim' (or as Boris said, 'like it should be') server setting, where racing participant only can use incar view. Only then you know that everyone are using the same view and have same (dis)advantages.
Again, to only stripe down this one *single* thing is just... stupid. Doesnt even out anything, just annoying for the ones that use it.

The lookback function is quite weird now, on certain cars (GTR's and singleseaters?) it doesnt work in custom view, and incar view it 'only' shows a virtual mirror if u dont have it already. I yet want to look back when pressing the look back button, not a mirror. A mirror is something different and something i already have in other option =)
I know that Scawen want a simulation and in that case the custom view could be thrashed as concept. Thats what i use (wheels only), and looking back never been an issue. Also, look left/right could be option to have 45 or 90 degrees. Or we're gonna end up driving in 3rd view (which neither have look back) on our cruise servers since we hardly can look back or sides :S
