I can tell you that the community aspect is rather weak, SMS have had a clear dev process and direction from the start and the community have had much weaker impact than I hoped for. I have to hand it to them though, it's a good business idea on there part and a good way to build revenue through the dev process. But in all honesty I feel far more like a paying beta tester/investor than a valued member of a community that can make a difference, because they knew the path they were taking all along.

I just wish they had abandoned the flawed Madness engine and built a new physics engine from scratch, or used another proven physics engine. Despite improvements with the tyre model and FFB the core physics still are Shift like and the car behaviour has the same issues; lack of front end grip, sluggish chassis response, somewhat floaty and light, inaccurate steering response and slippery sluggish tyres that lack bite on turn in and progression under throttle. The suspension movements are also unconvincing.

Where it perhaps lacks the most is that the car/tyres don't feel pinned to the road/track by the weight of the car, it doesn't feel planted like a real car or like the better sims do.

Quote from atledreier :Even my T500 feels aawkward at the slide recovery. The slide initiates pretty well, but even so the recovery just doesn't feel like a real car.

Wow! your T500 spins so fast! way way faster than my DFGT. Looks like you can drift at some good angles and let go of the wheel to self correct fast, my wheel just doesn't react like that, recovery still looks rather difficult though.

Quote from Kristi :The force should actually HELP you with the drifting and not prevent it. There is no force to fight if you are doing the weight shifting right.

Yes this is a true, but on my wheel a Driving Force GT, even with a smooth weight transition there's lots of resistance to fight at the end of the drift unless it's totally perfect, this makes correcting any decent angled drift difficult. In real cars I find it easier to correct at the end of the drift as the wheel works with me.

Could it be that my wheel isn't fast enough and I'm getting slightly delayed forces at the wheel at the most critical time? from most videos I've seen they are using G25/27s or TS500s or Fanatecs all have lower latency as far as I know.

Quote from kars19 :try 107% in profiler, and 70% in game thats how I roll

Finally beat one of my 0.4 pb's

That's similar to me but I have to reduce profiler to 100% in some cars as it causes oscillations.

I tried the E30 drift with lowered gain at 40 and it was easier to recover from slides as there wasn't such a strong force to fight, but you do give up overall feel/weight. To me though it feels like the countersteering force lasts too long at the end of the slide, think I may post about it on there official forums.

Quote from kars19 :reduce the ffb gain
For me drifting in AC is the same as in LFS, maybe because I use weak ffb.
I don't really on ffb that much, for me the most important is tyre physics, that feeling when tires losing/gaining grip is the most important

If I lower gain too much though I can't feel the rear of the car step out as early plus I lose some feel around the centre so I keep it fairly high for lapping fast with but without clipping, e.g 65-70 with the E30 road car.

For drifting though I guess lower gain will help, but in LFS the FFB always works with me rather than against me.

I'm having a bit of a problem with the FFB when correcting and straightening up after a drift, it feels like I'm fighting against the FFB and there is lots of resistance.

In LFS the FFB would be returning the wheel to centre at this point helping to straighten out the car, but in AC it's still wanting to pull the opposite way and I'm steering against it to correct. If I wait for the FFB to stop countersteering before straightening up it's often too late and results in a tankslapper.

To me LFS feels more natural in this regard.

Anyone else notice the same?
