It also really depends on the server/race length/drivers how blue flags and racing etiquette are handled.
On some of the busy servers with short sprint races (e.g. FoX junkies) you are expected to clear the way on blue flag. (and I its ok for me)
My experience: short races with many ppl -> more aggressive racers, who expect everyone to clear track if they come from behind ...

Try some servers with racelength > 5 minutes - there I get the most fun in LFS. And with longer races most people start to think(and slow down) before they just crash the blue flagged car in front.

Quote from zeugnimod :Not an entirely different colour but the cars who are in the same lap as you and behind you have a brighter orange than the cars who are 1 or more laps down.

These colors are adjustable in options. I have only cars in front of me or same lap in bright colors - one ore more laps behind dark grey.

OT:
Race order list should also be no problem, all mid race joiners are at the bottom.
I dont need informations above a car if its a midrace joiner or not - if he is one lap behind he'll get a blue flag and should act appropriately. If he ignores blue flags there would be no difference if I know that he is a midrace joiner or not ...

On endurance races its common that someone rejoins after a disconnect - he would also be marked as midrace joiner.

Is it ok that you show all Setup-Info?
Afaik its not possible in LFS to see any of these informations, with these anyone is able to rebuild a setup. Or am I missing something?

LFS can handle a lot more controllers - I have attached 3: gamepad, g25, speed7.

Most functions of lfs are assigned with lfs, but I use this tool http://www.deinmeister.de/jct_e.htm to assign other keys.

The steering wheel is hold by 6 screws (see picture) - my plate is hold by the lower 3 screws. In the upper part I have just put 3 small plates to get the same distance - u can see a little bit of it at the top screw.
The cable is fixed with tape to the steering axis - it has to be quite long, because when g25 calibrates it does a 900 degree turn. I have no problem with that cable while driving, but I only use max 300 degree turn in - dont know how it would be with full 900

Attached is a picture of my wheel with extra buttons - not perfect in shape but in functionality

Btw. its 14 extra Buttons, not 10 as written before. The colored heads of the buttons are replaceable, actually I have only 4 black buttons on the left side to press cursor keys and two white to cycle through f9/f10 and f11/f12
All colored buttons are now on the right side with these functions in same order as in picture:
horn, handbrake, teamspeak (speak)
reset(car not pc), light, teamspeak (mute all)
tc, pitlimiter
(the 2 original g25 buttons are used for looking left/right)

As I'm writing this I recognize, that I could remap some buttons like reset and tc - they are almost of no use

The gamepad I slaughtered looked like some ps2 gamepad - 4 shoulderbuttons, left hand a direction pad (cooliehat in gamecontroller setup), 4 button righthand, 2 analog sticks (I had no use for them) and 2 buttons in the middle

I have attached an aluminium-plate on the lower part of my G25 wheel, placed 10 Buttons from an electronic shop on it and an old gamepad was slaughtered for the functionality. Works quite well and all needed keys/functions of lfs are available at my thumbs

If you are completly unable with electronics and soldering: a small gamepad attached on the wheel will do a good job - I used that with a momo wheel. You just have to find a gamepad that matches good on that wheel.

I've updated our server to wine 0.9.38 on monday

since then we had no problems - 4 servers running, no servercrash

before that update we could use a server for max 1 hour.
I hope that we are not just lucky ...

Debian 3.1
Wine 0.9.20
Kernel 2.6

We had massive problems with older wine version - upgraded last week but still have same problems with 0.9.20
Problem always the same after about 30 minutes:
- server still running / chat is ok
- no one can see other ppl driving, only my own marker on map is moving, all others are standing still.
- join server is not possible
- /reinit causes server to crash

This started early this year - before that we ran lfs on wine for more than 1 year without much problems

check if cursor keys are assigned for any other action in lfs (steering?) - remove them there.

I'm very satisfied with the graphics of LFS as they are. (High resolution - 3840x1024 and AA+AF turned on)
I took a look at r-factor a few month ago and most gfx looked like plastic - IMHO - gtr2 isn't any better. LFS looks more real than all other sims I had seen so far.

I really don't care for cars with millions of polygons as long as motions and behavior of cars look realistic - I use LFS for racing and for that purpose it really looks great. Same for skins - nice to have them in Hi-Res - but there are almost no occasions (in race) where I could see a difference to Low-Res.

There are more important things that needs to be done - gfx update should be a matter to S3.

To answer ur question: yes, my system could handle better gfx, but I really dont care for ...

G25:
100% FF in profiler - everything else (center/effects) in profiler to 0
300 degree wheelturn

FF strength in LFS from 15(TBO) to 45(MRT) - depends on car/setup

With my DFP I used very similar settings.

Quote from Scawen :-Willi- : this is with FOV of 120 I guess?

Yes I have noticed the trees popping up at BL, when I use a lod that seems fine for cars, there is too much tree popup and I've made a note to check if that should be balanced a bit. I think they have a needlessly low draw distance and I can increase that to an acceptable value.

Is it only trees? Or do you have something else popping up as well, that didn't pop up before?

yes, FOV = 120
Trees were most disturbing so I recognized that at once. Can't remember anything else, but I just have driven AS3r, KY3 and BL1r. And these popups were only at BL1r disturbing.
Lod > 1

I'm running LFS on 3 Monitors - 3840x1024.
Seems that LOD is now (V5) lower than before (V2) - if I switch to 1280x1024 it looks better (tested on BL1r) ...
I have set all LOD to max - but there is still popups and trees changing size and form as I get nearer

Any way to increase LOD more than actual max values?

according to your posted formula I would need a LOD of 1.2:
0.6 (my old LOD) * 3840 / 1920 = 1.2

LFS (U33) crashes while resizing window.
LFS starts on my Desktop (3840x1024) in windowed mode at size of 3720x955. If I resize the window slowly it crashes with this message(german): Die Anweisung in "0x00514373" verweist auf Speicher in "0x00000008". "read" konnte nicht auf dem Speicher durchgeführt werden.

This only happens at windowsizes around 3710x950, if I drag the mouse faster there is no crash.

Don't know how u checked wich cars ppl drive, but your result is totally wrong.

I have had alot MRT Races the last few weeks and there are more to come. Also GT and FO8 are not dead. Yes - they are not very popular on public servers, but who cares?
My fav. car at the moment is FZ50 and the final answer to ur question is:
YES, we need them all!

Quote from csurdongulos :switching the option windowed mode off before clicking display server list should do...

Thx - didn't expected this option on that screen
I fear there are some more "hidden options" for me to find ...
